Sad news. Comedian Patrice O’Neal passed away on Tuesday morning (November 29) due to complications from a stroke he had back in October. He was 41 years old.
O’Neal has been in the comedy game for years and made appearances on several TV shows such as “Chappelle Show,” “The Office,” and “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.” His last appearance was on the Comedy Central Charlie Sheen roast (VIDEO HERE), but he also had his own CC special, Elephant in The Room, that aired back in February.

UPDATED: His booking agent Matt Frost released this statement:
It is with terrible sadness we must report that Patrice O’Neal has passed away this morning at 7:00am due to the complications of the stroke he suffered on October 19. Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius. His mother, who was also his best friend, was at his side. Patrice is survived by his wife, Vondecarlo; his step daughter Aymilyon, sister Zinder, and his mother Georgia. The family wishes to thank all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks. We ask that you please respect the family’s request for privacy at this difficult time.

THIS ISNT FAIR AND I AM TRULY UPSET THAT WE KEEP LOSING THE GOOD GUYS! RIP PATRICE!
I CAN’T TAKE IT NO MORE… ANOTHER BROTHER DOWN! I am really sad right now. RIP Patrice… You were one funny brother.
We are losing so many of our black entertainers. This so sad and he will be missed. Rest In Peace Patrice.
What!!! Are You freaking serious?! Such a shame man, another talented brother. What the hell is going on? R.I.P Patrice. He was so funny!!! Sad Face
WHOA! This is terrible! I’m praying for his family & loved ones.
RIP my brother…..I don’t want to sound mean because it truely is sad when someone expires but its a natural journey we all must take…I just feel its so important we treat people accordingly while we’re blessed to have whatever time we’re granted……..
oh my god i’m freaking out.. i just saw his HBO stand-up show yesterday night and rewinded and rewatched it twice before i went to sleep because it was so funny and i was so happy to see him. it turned my day around. this is bizarre- i’m so upset. rest in peace. he was SO funny. i hate that he’s gone.. he was so young.
Eerie. I was just about to post something similar. I had a rough Sunday and needed some “American” entertainment. Popped open my laptop to Elephant in The Room, and dude had me in tears up in my hotel room. Missing white chicks.. football killers.. side pieces by the dumpster. Big talent gone. RIP brah.
He was truly a funny guy. I was looking forward in seeing him at the Improv in DC next year
Truly unfortunate… Especially since this was I’m sure a preventable. These recurring deaths should hit home for not only black people, but people in general, that put their personal life before there well-being. Always got time 4 something else. Funny Guy tho
wow, so many of our brothas need to start taking care of their health, black men are starting to become an endangered species…smh
RIP. I don’t know who he is.
One affect of being unhealthy is death. Unfortunatly, you can’t recover from that. R.I.P.
This is another sad day. Loved on that brother since seeing him on VHS1′s WebJunk and Best Week Ever. His standup on Comedy Central was funnny and it a life cut too short, too soon. God Bless the entire Oneal family and I can only imagine that there’s gotta be some extra laughter in heaven right now…..
Rest in peace that great comedian.
One more thing.. my people, health is wealth! No reason to have a stroke @ 40!!
wow! are you serious? he was funny! but you never know. Come on now, we need to start taking care of ourselves especially us brothers bc we are losing a lot of good people (in their early 40s) and thats not good. that is a wakeup call.
So sad. Dude was my age. Patrice, Heavy D, Teena Marie, MJ, and Vesta Williams dying so young have me thinking about my own mortality sooner than I thought I would. No one is invincible. God rest his soul.
I can’t believe he’s gone, he was so funny and at 41! People dying left and right, makes me cherish everything I have. R.I.P
I was really hoping he would pull through, but the fact that Opie and Anthony said last month that there was uncertainty about him making a full recovery said it all for me. He was such a true talent. My condolences to his family and friends. He’ll be truly missed.
RIP Patrice O’Neal
I always thought he was great on Web Junk on VH1,a show he shouldnt have left in my opinion
R.I.P
Just watch Elephant in the Room last night – what a funny man. This is too sad – RIP Patrice.
This is sad, that’s why it’s so important to take better care of ourselves. Just like right now Tyrees is in the hospital…probably from over working. Just like Rick Ross.
OK RIP, but they wrong for naming the child Aymilyon.
A wake up call!…Lose weight, eat healthy and exercise more.
RIP, you’ll be truly missed!!
