On Wed. Nov. 16, a House Judiciary Committee hearing began on the Stop Online Piracy Act (H.R.3261), which many claim would lead to internet censorship.
Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), who introduced the bill and chairs the House Judiciary Committee, says it will help “stop the flow of revenue to rogue websites and ensures that the profits from American innovations go to American innovators”. However, the tech freedom organization Fight for the Future (and tech companies such as Google, Yahoo!, Facebook and more) claim the bill would “stifle free speech and innovation” and have launched a campaign to spread the word and ask Congress to oppose it.
The House Judiciary Committee could vote on H.R.3261 soon, but the Senate Judiciary Committee has already approved its piracy bill, the Protect IP Act. It has been placed on hold, however. Check out the video above and visit fightforthefuture.org/pipa for more information.
If this bill passes it would be horrible. Downloading musis and movies without paying for them is stealing, whether you think it is ok or not doesn’t mean its not stealing. But there is a gray area that the entertainment industry has proven time and time again that they will take advantage of the consumer any chance they have. The music industry was convicted of price fixing by the U.S. Government when Napster came around and bankrupting families as a scare tactic with their law suits ten years ago was just morally disgusting.
The entertainment industry is extraordinarily irresponsible when it comes to fair use and this bill should not pass. I encourage everyone to sign that petition linked in this.
This is only another step toward an authoritarian government, to keep the dissidents from having a voice. However, I`m not surprised because I could see this coming. They`ve long been trolling on the internet in their espionage of citizens…I`m sure they`ll call it the,”war on terror”. This will also correlate with the abolishment of The Habeus Corpus Act as well as Martial Law being implemented during any possible revolts. Some may think this to be a paranoid view but it goes hand in hand with authoritarian rule.
And I find their ostensible reason for this new law to be very HYPOCRITICAL. The hemogony that The US possess globally with its` imperialists and colonial policies makes it null and void of any claim of nobility. Also, their coups and assassinations of other foreign leaders throughout history who are intransigent to their evil ideals condemns them as the biggest TERRORIST the world has ever known.

Malcolm X is on point. I don’t know how many times these ppl can be warned and still don’t take the time to research this stuff. They are trying to close all the gabs for the New World Order as fast as possible. I heard about the government putting restrictions on the internet a year ago. Trying to get rid of our freedom of speech over the internet then they continue to take it further. The government wants us to watch hollywood movies and listen to main stream music because these are their brainwashing and desensitizing tools. And sad to say it’s working. So many young ppl don’t know about their history and we need to know our history to keep horrible things from happening again. America has launched 5 wars alone in the last year worldwide. It is still looking for more fake enemies internationally but they are not content yet.

Cali you are also right. No one wants to touch on these subjects because it disrupts their day to day. It seems to be far fetched for the average already brainwashed and programed individual.
