First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden were on hand at Sunday’s NASCAR season finale in Miami, where the served as grand marshals of the Sprint Cup Finale in support of their Joining Forces Initiative.
NASCAR fans booed the two as their names were announced just before they gave the “Gentleman, start your engines” command along with retired Army Sgt. Andrew Barry and his family. Mrs. Obama’s communications director, Kristina Schake, issued the following statement, choosing to focus on the positivity of the event:
“Mrs. Obama was proud to join NASCAR in recognizing our nation’s veterans and military families to raise awareness of this important issue for all Americans. As she has always said, she will proudly stand with anyone making a major commitment to serve and honor our military community and yesterday, NASCAR did just that. They paid special tribute to our veterans and military families at the championship race by donating over 5,000 tickets to military families and by honoring Sergeant Berry and his family, true American heroes. Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden enjoyed their visit to the speedway and are looking forward to working across the country to honor America’s veterans and military families.”

What does poor democratic policy have to do with MICHELLE Obama. Her position, although it definitely reflects Barack’s political positions, is NOT a political office. She not a legislator, she does not have any definitive political powers whatsoever. Mrs. A, I understand what you’re trying to convey, but I respectfully disagree. As I see it, there are quite a lot of Caucasians who engage in race baiting and try to make it appear as though African Americans are quick to play the race card. An African American who has experienced enough racism in his/her life knows what to look for before that racism even arrives in their lap, covertly or overtly. Many of us just know and can often see it coming. Okay so try conveying that bit of intuitiveness to someone white who has no interest in fairness or equality and see how far you get. If a white person doesn’t feel that racism is involved in a situation, then it isn’t there, no matter what the black person feels despite the fact that he/she knows what racism is firsthand and is thinking objectively. This economy that has been ruined by the Republican party has got plenty of white people in the uncomfortable and unfamiliar positions of joblessness and foreclosure and no health insurance and no jobs after their expensive college educations, etc. But they conveniently forgot about the damage the last president did and want to focus their frustration on President Obama because he’s not creating jobs fast enough or overhauling healthcare fast enough, which have been stalled by the Republican-controlled House I might add. This thing isn’t even about Nascar. The tide is turning and it’s not largely in the “majority’s” favor.
