On Monday, in an interview with Atlanta’s Fox 5 television station, Ginger White claimed to have had a 13-year affair with Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain. The 46-year-old said she came forward because she felt bad for the four women who’ve alleged sexual harassment charges against the presidential candidate:
It bothered me that they were being demonized, sort of, and being treated as if they were automatically lying, and the burden of proof was on them.
White says she’s “not proud” and that she “didn’t want to come out with this”, but felt the story would break sooner or later. She says she and Cain met in the late 1990s in Louisville, Kentucky, where Cain allegedly told her, “You’re beautiful to me and I would love for us to continue this friendship” after having drinks together following a presentation he had given as head of the National Restaurant Association. According to White, “he made it [the affair] very intriguing. It was fun. It was something that took me away from my humdrum life at the time, and it was exciting.”
In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Monday, Cain denied having an affair with White but admitted to knowing her: “Until I see and hear exactly what the accusations are going to be made, let’s move on.”
White showed Fox 5 her cellphone, which included Herman Cain as a contact and phone bills which show 61 calls or texts to his number during a four-month period. The station texted the number, and Cain responded that he knew White but she had his number because he was “trying to help her financially” and her allegations of an affair were false.
Cain, who has dropped 5% in the polls in recent weeks, will undoubtedly continue to suffer amid these new allegations. While White says she didn’t want to do this, “it was something I felt at the end of the day was the right thing to do, and is it going to hurt a lot of people? Yes, I’m sure I will be one of them”. Regardless of rather he is a potential canidate or not, why are all these women coming out now? His campaign is a wrap for all intents and purposes. I heard on the news today that Cain is assessing his candidacy with his team. He needs to spare his family any further embarrassment and throw in the towel before yet another broad comes out the woodwork. Plain and simple, if he did nothing wrong, all these women wouldn’t be having something to say about him. Notice that no woman has said anything out of pocket about President Obama, or Romney, Gore, or Kerry. Those last three guys have been in the political landscape for years and if there was something to dig up, it would’ve been dug from jump. Cain is done.
