MAG COVER: ALICIA KEYS ON MOTHERHOOD & GIVING BACK IN ‘WEBMD’

Singer-songwriter Alicia Keys has been chosen to be featured on WebMD magazine‘s November/December 2011 cover. In the digital magazine’s Heroes issue, the philantrophist spoke about her passionate fight against HIV/AIDS through her Keep a Child Alive organization, motherhood and how it felt to be in the director seat of a film:

On giving back to those thru her org, Keep a Child Alive:
“Sometimes we watch the news and things seem so out of hand. We feel that there’s nothing we can do. Or we think in order to donate we have to give $100 or $500. You can give $1, or even 50 cents a month, and these very small amounts add up and make a difference.” Continue

TV BIT: NENE LEAKES THROWS SHADE AT RHOA CAST ON ‘WENDY’

NeNe “I’m Very Rich” Leakes dropped by The Wendy Williams Show and caught up with the host. When asked if she heard what her fellow cast members said about her changing during their visit to the show, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star didn’t hold her tongue and expressed her opinion the way she knows best:

I heard some of the things that they said. I wonder why you had all three at one time – probably because they are boring. [...] I know Sheree is excited about people calling her name because nobody really even knows she’s on the show. She’s so boring. [...] You know, you have to change on a platform like this and people are judging you and talking about you. I mean you can’t stay the same.

Wendy went on to say that she thinks NeNe is mean-spirited. Nene responded, “It’s very difficult. You can’t trust a lot of people. You know your girlfriends all change. Your family is now against you. It’s like, it’s unreal. So you have these walls up.” Video after the jump… Continue

FASHION: CELEBS ATTEND THE 8TH ANNUAL CFDA/VOGUE FASHION AWARDS

Not as glamorous and celeb friendly as the MET Gala, or as notorious as the CFDA Awards, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards are probably the least familiar of the American fashion industry’s top award ceremonies.

About acknowledging and awarding emerging designers with long term potential, the night is more about the business end of fashion rather than the creative. But that doesn’t mean the star or style power was any less prominent.

A number of celebs were on hand to witness designer Joseph Altuzarra receive the night’s top award — $300,000.

Baller Carmelo Anthony and wife Lala, who was dressed in Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2011, were guests of designer Rachel Roy.

The designer wore an on trend fur vest, paired with a nude turtle-neck, and black floor length skirt.

Also accompanying a top fashion designer was actress Zoe Kravitz who attended with designer Alexander Wang, a past Fashion Fund award winner, and long time friend of Zoe.

Naturally, she wore a look from his Spring 2012 collection, a burgundy leather (it’s not just for the fellas) mini dress, paired with black pointy toe heels.

Other fashionably focused peeps who walked the event’s red carpet include models Joan Smalls in Altuzarra and Liya Kebede in Cushnie et Ochs, and designer Tracy Reese.
