WHAT THEY ROCK’D: RIHANNA / J.HUD / NICKI MINAJ / USHER

November 30th, 2011

The holiday season is upon us, and it’s time to start making those Christmas wishlists to send to Santa. If you’re in need of a little inspiration, look no further than to the gear your favorite celebs are rocking. We also hooked you up with some links to more affordable items..

Rihanna spent her Thanksgiving holiday in Ireland, throwing a traditional holiday dinner for her crew at an Irish pub. Not so traditional? Rih’s $1,692 Lanvin ‘Tyrone’ leather pumps. Featuring a crystal flower across the toe, these five inch heels are definitely eye catching.

Want the same look without the high pricetag? Try adding one of these $30 Steve Madden shoe clips to these $19 GoJane ankle-strap pumps.

Nicki Minaj, who picked up a ‘Favorite Hip-Hop Artist’ award at this year’s AMAs, wore an Oscar de la Renta ballgown to the event, paired with sky high Alexander McQueen platform wedges.

The diminutive emcee had such trouble with the 5.5 inch heels, that she had to be escorted onstage to accept her award, and even ended up switching the shoes out for a pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Daffodil’ pumps.

The Alexander McQueen wedges go for $4,245 at McQueen’s official website. Finding that kind of craftsmanship on a budget is nearly impossible, but these $40 MIA wedge sandals will at least give you the same kind of height.

Nicki’s clearly a fan of sky high wedges. She donned a second pair earlier in the month while performing at the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Her six inch high Giuseppe Zanotti wedges feature yellow, pink, and blue color blocking.

Not only does she like her wedges high, but she also likes them to be expensive. Her Giuseppe Zanotti’s are available at Zappos for $695.

Although they’re not wedges, both these $55 Michael Antonio heels, and these $78 Colin Stuart heels have the same color blocking going on.

Jennifer Hudson has been on a designer fashion high as of late, and she kept it up at the Swarovski Elements and Rodeo Drive holiday lighting ceremony in Beverly Hills last week. She wore a cute Temperley London little red dress, and Jimmy Choo booties, and pulled it all together with a Versace Fall 2011 cream wool coat.

Retailing for $5,018 at Luisaviaroma, the coat adds a bit of instant chic to any outfit.

This $160 Guess? coat available at Macy’s has the same gold accenting, and same belted waist as Jennifer’s Versace creation.

Last, but certainly not least, for the fellas we have Usher to provide some style inspiration. The R&B singer was spotted out strolling the streets of NYC wearing an on trend varsity jacket by Givenchy. The black jacket features structured shoulders, and a low collar, giving it a clean yet still athletic look.

Bergdorf Goodman has the jacket for $1,385, but if you’re trying to spend a little (read: a lot) less, try this Gant Rugger wool blend jacket on sale for $172.50 at Mr. Porter.
