THIS VIDEO IS REALLY DISRESPECTFUL TO AALIYAH AND HER FAMILY that somebody would do this to try to make money by using somebody else style. i am disgusted

If you’re gonna do Aaliyah why isn’t there a dance sequence? This girl probably don’t have any dancing abilities. I’m sick of people doing things half way. And that weak belly roll? Chile Please! The song isn’t bad, but I’m feeling some kind of way about this video..

Disrespectful? Wow I think you overreacting with that statement. I believe she was trying to pay respect and homage to maybe her idol, but it failed. The song is trash, she is not cute (I’m bias because Aaliyah was gorgeous), and I just wasted 3 mins of my life. Try again!

I have mixed feelings….because the song is actually not that bad at all. I actually like the song.

But its kinda erie how much she paid “tribute” to Aaliyah….it was too much.

But otherwise I would have never listened to the song….so I guess, good job??? LOL.

And the synth sound in the song reminds me of Aaliyah’s “Don’t Know What To Tell You”…especially towards the end….lol.

Fail! It just seems cheesy, like she is not paying homage but impersonating her, almost like a parody. Its one thing to pay homage, but to me, she looks silly trying to rock the Aaliyah style get up. Its just not working.

I think it’s unfair to compare her to Aaliyah in the article and then have people vote if she s doing it good enough… Why judge her for who the blog author claims shes channeling and not just for the girls own music and own vibe. No one will ever say that someone does Aaliyah better than Aaliyah, and it’s because it’s impossible, but this girl is talented and should have a chance to do her own thing before getting pinned down as a con artist before she even breaks. This blog post was in poor form.

All this did was make me miss the real Aaliyah…, the reality is Phlo is probably just a mega fan who doesn’t realize that the amount to which she’s inspired by her idol has descended into imitation. I’m a singer and I was massively inspired by Aaliyah but the greatest thing I take from that is to ba as much myself as Aaliyah was herself. IMO that’s the best way to pay homage to someone so original, be the best you instead.

The song is straight, actually kinda catchy. I’m not feeling the video. I don’t really mind the Aaliyah homage, but the direction of the video could’ve been a lot better. It just looks kinda cheap, from the camera they used, to the framing, editing, all that. Kreayshawn didn’t have a crazy budget but she worked with what she had for the Gucci Gucci video and it was a dope video. She should redo the video and execute the Aaliyah scenes better.

I like the song, but who told her to imitate Aaliyah? She lost cool points there and it wasn’t even close to being Aaliyah anyway. Why can’t people be original and come up with their own style? It’s a shame because the song isn’t bad, but the video is just wack.

I usually try to balance the good and the bad but right now I’m smh at this garbage. Just look at the cover of it, this little girl even looks demonic. Aaliyah made some snappy decisions like the movie “Queen of the damned” but she never looked this demonic, and always kept a sense of creativeness within her. This video is just disrespectful and evil. Look at this chick’s face under the shades, something is not adding up. If you can’t be a good singer without channeling someone else’s spirit, and have a sense of originality then you need to sit down because clearly you were not made to be an artist. No-one needs to get paid for being an impersonator!!

The video & song was OK. She had the “Aaliyah” imitation right, she just didn’t execute it well. Her eyebrows could have been a little thinner.

That was so weak. She does not have the swag to pull off Aaliyah. You don’t have to rock the exact same outfit to pay tribute. Let’s be Honest.. First of all She has Talent & second of all if any of these weirdo Aaliyah stands had common sense they would just Google: Phlo Finister. She has her own style & dope one at that. The girl dresses Mod as if shes from the 60s. Her first EP that dropped earlier this year SILVER HILL was inspired by Andy Warhol & Edie sedwick, for the girl to only be 20 and have been in the game since she was 16 (google her) styling, singing, modeling she definitley has experience and has done her homework because her creativity is on another level. I love Aaliyah too, but people are too thirsty for her. Shes Dead, no one wants to be her, take the music she left behind, listen, remember & shut the hell up.

People want to talk about “No Originality” what other artist has done anything like what shes doing in the past decade?!? I’ll Wait….

I can see where she was going with this…Kind of got the vibe like the song was suppose to be sort of laid-back & easy going like Aaliyah’s “Back & Forth”, the same with her look…only difference is that Aaliyah was just natural in her singing & with her performance. The girl in this video was trying too hard to duplicate that same natural vibe. On a lighter note, I’m glad to see some1 try & still keep Aaliyah’s influence relevant rather than try to be a carbon copy of Beyonce & Nicki.

I know they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but-no, in this case it isn’t.

I will just say its time for people to come up with there own style on how they want people to look or judge them. not use somebody that has succeeded her dream. i mean if she wanted to pay homage she could have just did a song and not a video it would have been smart. then people wont judge.

Well when Ciara came out everyone claimed she bit off Aaliyah. And when Keysha Cole came out everyone said she reminded them of Mary J. People will make comparisions no matter what. Also artists bite off each other and use ideas that have already been done. It’s called “inspiration” lol. Maybe this artist was inspired by Aaliyah. Ain’t nobody out now that can do it like she did. Maybe artists need to copy Aaliyah so music won’t suck so badly. Maybe we need that 90′s inspired vibe to kick in cuz everything sucks and is overproduced. With this particular artist I give her props for remembering someone that had such an impact on the music industry. And didn’t try to oversing like Beyonce or do that monotone shit like Rhianna.

I actually like the song but are a few things off about this video, almost to the point where i feel she was set up!. She doesnt sing her lyrics at all in the song..(what is she mumbling in the car when they’re driving?)the song gives me a dark undertone…but most of the video is done during the day..there is no bedroom/intimate scene as indicated in the lyrics..the theme of the video and song dont match..there is no dance sequence..and the tommy hilfiger (or however u spell the name) was too long…this video is missing styling, artistic direction, and a choreographer…im working on my own music and i would never put out a video like this..its sad cuz i actually like her =/

I think she has pretty good vocals. The song was catchy and rhythmic; her falsetto sounded similar to Aaliyah’s on some parts. I liked the vibe.

People, it is clear she wasn’t trying to IMPERSONATE Aaliyah; she was trying to exhibit Aaliyah’s influence in her music.
