Check out the latest holiday release from former Danity Kane and Dirty Money starlet Dawn Richard. The new track, “December Sky,” produced by recent Grammy nominated Druski, with whom Dawn has been churning out tracks in the studio, including “SMFU (Save Me From U).”
Dawn is presently working on her first ever solo studio album, GoldenHeart, the first part of a trilogy, which has been said will be a concept album, based on a character called NEON. No word on when the album will drop, but 2012 is sure to find lots in store for Dawn.

She can’t help her voice tone! You act like she snapped her fingers and thought, ‘Hey i feel like sounding like Brandy today’. I guess by your standards anyone who even dares to belt out a song is trying to steal Whitneys style, yeah as if these people registered and trademarked the vibrations and frequencies of their vocal range (i’m trying to sound scientific but don’t really know what the fuck i’m talking about but hopefully someone gets what i’m trying to say).

I really wish people would stop saying that Dawn is jacking Brandy’s style. When have you ever heard Brandy over a track like this, 1? 2…when have you ever heard Brandy sing any of the records Dawn sings? Yes, their tones are similar but so are many other artists. I don’t see anybody talking about Trey WRONGZ or him copying R.Kelly’s style, song choice or that God awful vibrato imitation. The only reason why people compare them are that they both have an appreciation for background vocals and harmonies but Dawn’s voice is a lot heavier and grittier. Brandy’s is a lot more lighter and raspier. They are two different artists and the sooner you get over trying to put these two women in the same box I’m pretty sure you’ll feel better about your day. Let Dawn be Dawn. And Brandy be Brandy. Damn.

I totally agree. I’m a HUGE Brandy fan but she and Dawn are completely different, Dawn has always been Dawn.
I like Dawn’s voice better and go to love her personality. Never a Brandy fan. Even thou every thing you said about their voices are true regarding their difference….they still to similar for me. She needs someone else on her song to bring her out for example, A Trey Songs, Usher, or Chris Brown. Just one….and I bet it will be a winner! Once I realized this song was pop/R&B it BLEW me away..This song is put together BEAUTIFULLY. For the ppl who thinks different listen closely to this song. I truly agree with you and my hope is she will keep the faith in god and that consistant drive she will make it for sure.After surviving the katrina disaster in 2005,the break up of her former group danity kane,and now another break up of a group dirty money,her break up.From her ex fiance”Q” former group memeber of day 26 as well as over coming cancer.So yes this darling angel deserves to be heard,accepted,respected for her efforts also the song is amazeing and her voice is so graceful I wish her all the best because she is a such a beautiful artist with class..
I love this song, sound like Brandy. Wish Brandy did this song, but I will pic this up with Dawn sounding like my fav singer.

love the song. It does remind of Brandy (who is one of my favorite singers). However, you can’t blame Dawn for how she sounds. I can tell them apart.
Dawn pushes the envelope much further than Brandy ever would. Although their voices have similarities (and Brandy’s is indeed DOPE), Dawn is actually interesting. The anthesis of typical, predictable. That’s the edge she has over Brandy. I wish Dawn MUCH commercial success with her upcoming project. And I hope Brandy will release new music soon too. There’s room for both of these talented ladies.
