NEW MUSIC: KEVIN MICHAEL – “USE YOUR HEART (COVER)”

♫ Kevin Michael – Use Your Heart

Kevin Michael offers up a brand new cover of the SWV classic, “Use Your Heart,” from their second studio album, 1996′s New Beginning.

Michael is currently working on his sophomore album as well as penning tracks for other artists. No word on when he’s planning to release another single (check out previous releases here), but look for more new material from Kevin next year.

  7. Ashanna

I’m not one to judge or respond to ignorance or someone’s opinion, but in this case I have to, what “ChocolateMan” has said makes no sense, how can you say Michael is trying to copy a black man’s voice, Kevin has vocals, he can more than hold his own, with both his high and low range, he is amazing at rearranging music to fit his unique voice, and experiments with different types of music, his ethnicity has nothing to do with that, but the fact that he is black is what makes this comment even more ridiculous, you are egocentric, racist, ignorant, and your comment hold no merit in what’s really being presented, Great Musicianship!!!
Until I see ChocolateMan doing something that’s worth value rather than bashing hard working artist, he’ll get my wrath every time, you seem more Shi++y that Chocolaty…
On another note support Kevin Michael aka KofThey he’s really doing something exceptional with music!!! Love him!

  8. 7926

Ummm..NO! Sometimes people do TOO MUCH to songs that were meant to be simmple, classic, and soulful. Like Kevinn, but way too many runs and adlibs. Try again dude…

  9. elena

i agree wit 7926…. dude has some decent songs, decent voice but Use Your Heart is a dope classic r&b song and he definitely aint bringin it better than SWV. dem girlz was flawless.

  10. Lawd Have Mercy

7926 & Elena, maybe you guys should listen to the original again because he did almost every run and riff that SWV did. Now I don’t disagree that sometimes Kevin does a little much, but this was in the pocket for me. IMO

  11. Corey Pope

UUUUUM Chocolate Man, really dude? I don’t know you but im over you already. Kevin Michael is a vert talented vocalist and Im Glad he’s back I like this cover he did it justice and the ladies of swv will be proud.

  14. Lively09

    He has a nice voice.

  15. Electric_Pink

He’s cool. Sounds like a cross between Rahsaan Patterson and Stokely from Mint Condition. He sort of has the vocal gymnastics thing going on, but he clearly has a good voice. He could really lay back and get into the range of it if he wanted. Smooth it on out.

  16. GoldenLady

    He sounds like a girl

  17. Ronie

That’s my song & he did justice.

  18. phillipaundreas

i think he is dope i wanna sing too hmu and leme know what you think http://youtu.be/A5J9VeHBuBI

  19. Mrsjones

He sounds great, but damn I almost thought he was a chick. Love that song though.

  20. CiCiFan

This man can sing reminds me of Jessie Powell with the voice minus all the vibrato and runs. Anyways his album was great, isn’t he Wyclef’s artist?

  21. It's Me

I like it…I’m definitely vibin it…I need to say though, you guys gotta check out another artist…Michael Francis…he’s also dope :)

  22. The Hater

He sounds like a chick…at least it is a real R&B song.

  23. Jevon

Ok some of what chocolate man said was kinda mean, however the sentiment is true. We have a lot of imitators out there that are not black but we are saying they are producing black music. They can’t sing it as well as we can nor can they produce it as well as we can. Most of them have no soul. Here is a question for all you whom think ChocoMan is racist. If the blacks in the industry say that they have a harder time getting their rewards/earnings than their light skinned counterparts, and that they “the Man/Label Execs” only allow a few at a time. Also that “they” constantly make room for new lightskinned acts. How long do you think it will be before R&B is taken over by whites and latinos who have this new fake version of soul? How long before no matter how much you sing baby girl that you won’t matter and can’t get a deal because like Rock, Pop, Disco, Dance etc… has been taken over. People need to stop acting like the world has arrived at some new place. All racism and equality wasn’t overt even back in the day.

  24. DiamondLatrelle

I think he did a great job on his version of remaking a classic hit song. His voice did seem to change a couple of times though.
