I’m glad to see these women being recognized but I didn’t feel that the movie itself (not their performances) was that good.

Sooooo happy that Viola and Octavia won and hoping they win at the Oscars. On a side note, did Cicely Tyson discover the fountain of youth? She hasn’t aged in like 30 years! AND where in the hell did Regina King’s grown ass son come from, really?

  9. LULU

Congrats to all, I can’t wait for the Oscars.

  10. DIORULEUX

Amber finally found a dress that works for her, imo. Viola never looked better, keep it up.

  11. nat

    Omar’s coming! Omar’s coming!

  12. nat

love me some Sinclair James…but that dress is a no. and the fat chick from Glee needs to COVER THOSE ARMS. lose weight first.

  13. Mia

Viola & Octavia look amazing, I love these ladies, but Ms. Tyson is doing it, she is aging so beautifully! Congrats to these ladies on their individual wins and as an ensemble!

I AM SMART, I AM IMPORTANT & I AM SPECIAL!!! I love it!

  14. Chris

Everyone looks great but…. Kim Coles? Really? dress is a bad fit and is her hair having a mid life crisis?
    The Glee girl………

  15. TRP

Yes my black sistahs! Can you imagine if they both pick up Oscars?! That would be unbelievable!

  16. Chuck

Amber Riley got it wrong with this outfit but she doesnt usually make mistakes so I will give her a pass. Miss Viola…YES!! love her skin complexion against that white. Congrats on the win ladies, as I JUST saw the movie and loved it, but more importantly loved their individual performances.

  17. honeyxzillah

viola davis is so gorgeous! beautiful!!!

Nothing against the performers and their performances but it doesn’t surprise me that this type of film would get praise. Not that there are many brown films out there but either we’re left with Tyler Perry’s nonsense or something like ‘The Help’. I’m dying for more diversity when it comes to films with predominantly brown cast.

  19. JUDAH

Seventy plus years after Hattie McDaniel wins an Oscar for playing a maid, and black women are still begging for the attention of their white masters by playing maids, and getting on tv and crying when massa finally recognizes them. The more things change, the more they stay the same lol.

The movie theatres were packed out by stupid black women that are too simple minded to see that. Solidifying such roles as money makers and then will complain about lack of roles but dont connect that they are responsible for such mess because they keep buying in by buying tickets, big weaved head dummies.

  20. JUDAH

…and when is Kim Coles and the rest of the cast of “Living Single” going to make a reunion show and acknowledge that they’re all l*sbians in real life, other than Erika Alexander lol.

  21. Morning Glory

Viola is gorgeous. Love Regina’s everything. Her body is nice too.

  22. Aha!

have’nt seen the movie, “the help”, yet, but congrats to the actresses who were acknowleged for their outstanding performances. a great performace is a great performance. for those complaining about the maid roles, we have black film makers(tyler perry) who try to give black actors roles,so they won’t be so dependant on white hollywood for parts and stereotypical roles but some blacks find fault with everything he does, insteadof being supportative and giving him a chance to grow and make films with more depth. the man has his own movie studios for christ sake. he must be doing something right.
