Solange Knowles is featured in the upcoming February 2012 issue of InStyle magazine. The singer-songwriter posed in a few retro styles and talked a bit about her sense of style and how excited she is about finally being able to spoil her new niece, Blue Ivy:

I feel like you should change your screenname. Angel is a woman who wears and appreciates her natural hair. The site is about appreciating our Blackness. You are clearly not for that at all.
smh-ure obviously to insecure/uncomfortable to rock your natural hair & no make-up. To worried n focused on what others would think of you eh?? child, don’t try to knock someone else’s confidence and style just b/c you will never be bold/confident enough to take that route & break away from a full face of make-up and a flat iron. its not about looking ‘african’ Little Ignorant One.
Why should she get a perm? Because society says so or because some blacks not all don’t want to stay true their roots. My hair is 100 percent natural never had a perm in my 19 years of living and I will never as long as I live will put that hair killer in my hair. I don’t know how many blacks I’ve seen with the most messed up, short, bald headed, can’t even put a pony tail in, uneven hair because of perms SMH :-/ perms do not do your hair any good it doesn’t matter if you use dr. Miracle, just for me or a kiddie perm your hair will be crazy and ugly and unhealthy….. Solange can do as she pleases, wear what she wants, and can do what she wants because it makes her happy, unique, and she enjoys what she does as an aunt, stylist, mom, artist, and model I love her look there are to many people out there that look the same and act the same she is different
That person’s comment was very ignorant BUT so is yours. It’s not about whether you are relaxed or natural. It’s about how you take care of your hair. I know LOTS of natural women that have that crazy, ugly, unhealthy hair you claim comes from perms. I have been relaxed since the age of 12 and my hair is mid back legnth, even, and healthy. Why? Because I take the time to take care of my hair DAILY. It’s fine if you choose to be natural but it really annoys me when people like you spread lies and misinformation just because you are anti-relaxers. You have never even had one so how can you speak on it? Your hair can grow, be healthy, flourish all while being RELAXED.

Solange looks like her breath stinks
Solange is the opposite of Beyonce. She has her father’s facial features and her mom’s skin tone. Beyonce is the star with lace front wigs/weaves, wits, etc.. Solange, and I have seen her with weaves and/or weaves on, chose the natural route. I, personally, could not pull that style off! LOL. You have to have a certain face and bone structure to wear that style in my opinion. India Arie, Erica Badu, Lisa Bonet, Chrisette, etc.. Those are a few of the women who can wear the natural style/hippish/Bohemian style. And for the record, I do not think she is ugly. She is unique in her own way.
