The funeral for the legendary soul and jazz singer Etta James was held over the weekend in California. The 73 year-old died last week after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease and leukemia (READ MORE). Pictured below is her son Dante James, singers Stevie Wonder and Christina Aguilera and activist Al Sharpton.
Christina sang the classic Etta song “At Last” during the service and you can check that out below.

It seemed to be a very toned down celeb funeral…
I used to really like Christina, but all that hollering and acrobatics is ruining her original voice. She need to stop listening to too many black hollering singers and go back to genie in a bottle singing style, trying too hard.

Christina Aguilera has been singing like that for as long as I can remember, that’s just how she sings. She was raised on Soul and Blues music, which is why she sings like a soul and blues artist…not necessarily a black artist.

Christina couldnt go back to singing pop music like genie in a bottle if she wanted to. It would never work. She has worked so hard at being liberated from the image her debut album left on many people. It simply was not her. She said herself that that wasnt the type of music she wanted to do but she had no creative control when she was first signed. That is why her second album stripped was polar opposite of her first album. And she can sing her face off!!!!
She is yelling tooo much n yes Christina has a strong voice but the original song wasn’t sung like that it had a more soft tone to it, even thou Etta had a strong voice as well, she was doing toooo much!!!!!! I definitely didn’t like the way she sang this. It was just a bit extreme

That was not blood, It was spray on tan and I believe she was sweating.
Christina sang the mess out of that song!…. The riffs and overthetopness was appropriate for this home going celebration…. This was Etta’s song and it needed to be put on with a bang. There’s a time and a place for everything….. this was the time and place for that performance.

I won`t say R.I.P. because Miss Etta James is only continuing her journey as she enters the 4th dimension of a higher state of consciousness. It`s a journey we all will take and understood in its` proper context then we know that there`s no such thing as energy dying. Miss Etta still lives, just on a higher plane…death has no victory.

I think she did a really good job. I have to agree with the person who said some of you guys must be used to hearing Rhianna sing and think thats singing….Good job Tina you sang it much better than you did at one of your shows some years back, your voice was much stronger.
christina aguilera has a voice, however, in this particular performance she tried to do to much. the song was barely recognizable.
