CL EXCLUSIVE: CL CHATS WITH CYMPHONIQUE MILLER + A CLIP FROM HER NEW SHOW

February 4th, 2012

Many of you may be familiar with Cymphonique Miller, the 15 year-old is the daughter of rapper turned mogul Master P and the sister of rapper/actor Romeo Miller. Concrete Loop recently chatted with her about her upcoming Nickelodeon show, new music, and her advice young girls who want to do what she does.

Her new show, ‘How to Rock’ premieres tonight on Nickelodeon and this young lady has a good head on her shoulders, check out the interview below..

Angel:
Hey! How are you doing? Thank you for talking with Concreteloop. We really appreciate it.

Cymphonique:
Oh, I’m good! Oh & no problem.

Angel:
So I was reading on your background a little bit. And I read that you’re just 15 years old…

Cymphonique:
Yes, I am…

Angel:
But you’ve been in the game for a while doing TV appearances and music. How does it feel to have your first official show on Nickelodeon?

Cymphonique:
Oh, it feels amazing. It really is a dream come true for me. Like you said, I’ve been doing it forever, so it’s what I love and I would just describe this show, ‘How To Rock’ as a dream job for me because I get to sing, dance and act. So I get to do it all.

Angel:
That’s cool. So that’s some good things about having a show. What’s the worst part of having your own show?

Cymphonique:
What’s the worst part about having my own show? Hmm…I would say the crap service room that is on set because they have doughnuts there every single day. It’s dangerous. I have to keep myself away from there. [laughs]

Angel:
Well if that’s the worst thing, then you’re living the life right now. [laughs] A lot f people know that your dad is Master P, the master behind all the dope rap album covers and music from the 90s and your older brother is rapper/actor Romeo. What have they taught you within the last few years that you’re using right now for your career?

Cymphonique:
That’s a great question. Well they’ve always just told me to just be myself no matter what. Never change my values to please anyone else. So that’s something that I’ve always been using. I think that’s a great thing for any young person to know, is to just be yourself no matter what. Never let any other people change you. And with our family, we have always kept our priorities in line. It’s always God, family and education.

Angel:
That’s good. Okay. Shoutout to Master P! That’s great.

So other than the show, what are some other projects that you’re working on. I know you do the music thing. Are you going to have an official album come out with the show or…

Cymphonique:
Oh definitely! After the soundtrack for ‘How to Rock’ comes out, I’ll be working on my own album and releasing it. So you guys can definitely expect touring and future films as well.

Angel:
Okay! So when you’re out shopping for clothes and accessories, shoes and whatnot, what ‘s the first thing you look for when you’re shopping?

Cymphonique:
Well I always love accessories with like a little quirk to them. And I love when they have personality. For instance, I have a necklace with a lollipop on it or a teddybear or just different types of rings. So when I’m not looking for accessories, I’m looking for shoes. I’m also a shoe girl.

Angel:
That’s dope. So what are some TV shoes you’re watching right now?

Cymphonique:
I’m watching…Well I’ve been working on my own TV show…[laughs]

Angel:
[laughs]

Cymphonique:
I like to watch Vampire Diaries. I like to watch Reed Between the Lines. I like to watch Pretty Little Liars. Those are the three TV shows I’m watching.

Angel:
Okay. That’s a very eclectic mix of shows. So let me ask you the obligatory music question, who are your favorite artists to listen to right now?

Cymphonique:
Well my music inspirations in general…I love Mariah Carey. I love Jennifer Holliday. Jennifer Hudson. So many great ones…Beyonce. Tina Turner. Those are just to name a few. And Etta James as well.

Angel:
Alright. Dope eclectic mix of artist. Now I know you’ve been answering a lot of the same questions throughout the day. But at Concrete Loop, we like to do positive stories and when people visit our site, we want people to learn from it. So for those little girls who are going to look up to you or are looking up to you now, what advice would you give them if they want to do what you’re doing right now?

Cymphonique:
I would just tell them. Don’t expect yourself to be perfect. You’ll never be able to enjoy life that way. So I think accepting who you are as a person. That’s why I feel so confident about ‘How to Rock’ because it has a great message to where it’s telling people to embrace different types of people, different religions, styles and just about embracing who you are. Because everyone’s different and I think that’s one of the things I definitely want to tell girls out there. Don’t expect yourself to be perfect. And another thing is you’re never too young to make a difference. For me, our family has always been about giving back and getting involved with charities. I think even if you’re not into the entertainment industry, everybody has different talents to offer. And I think everyone should use their talent to help other people in some way.

Angel:
Great advice! Well for my last question, can you use 3 words or phrases to describe your new show, How To Rock?

Cymphonique:
Super hilarious. Great message. And fresh music.

Angel:
Dope. Well alright, Miss Cymphonique. I wish you the best on the show. I’ll be checking it out. Keep listening to your Dad’s advice. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. That’s what’s up.

Cymphonique:
Thank you. Appreciate that. It was good to meet you.

Angel:
You too.

I’m so proud of her. I know everyone talks about her name, but I loved that Lil Miss Swagger song. It’s good to see her and Chyna have their own shows.
