Music’s biggest night featured a bunch of stars including multiple winner Adele, host LL Cool J, honoree Diana Ross, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Chris Brown and Bruno Mars. It also featured a bunch of dope performances and not so dope performances (*cough* NICKI MINAJ)..
LL Cool J served as the perfect host, starting the show off with a prayer for the late great Whitney Houston. Singer Jennifer Hudson also paid tribute with a performance (VIEW HERE). Singers Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt paid tribute to Etta James and there was a short acknowledgment of Don Cornelius by Quest Love. On a more positive note, the legendary Diana Ross received her first Grammy, getting the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Grammy.
British singer Adele took home top honors during the night including, Album of the Year and Song of the Year. She matched Beyonce’s 2009 record of 6 Grammy wins in one night. The grammy awards was a hot mess. Congrats to Adele, she deserved it. Nicki Minaj is falling off quick..hot mess. The awards did Whitney so wrong..smh. That tribute was shorter than amber rose’s hair. They should have canceled half of those sorry performances and extended her tribute. I hope BET does better for her.

I partly agree, but you have to remember that she passed away 24hrs before the Grammy’s aired so it’s not like they had a lot of time to prepare a fitting tribute. I think that they did what they could do in the amount of time that they had to do it in.
Chaka Khan was also suppose to perform but decided it was still too devastating for her. I think the tribute was fitting. Simple and classy. It would have been a trainwreck if they did anymore
Just to add the producer of the BET awards said on CNN Sunday that he did not want to do a full tribute, because it is too soon and her family needs to mourn. He said Chaka Khan will do a tribute and he reached out to Jennifer Hudson to have her do a tribute.

I think Adele is really talented, but maybe it’s just me but I’ve never been really moved by her music. I’ve heard both her albums and aside from a few tracks she’s kinda bland to me.
I only like Rolling in the Deep. I don’t get the hype.
THIS RIGHT HERE. Adele can sing no doubt but she is O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D!!!! Her music doesn’t really do it for me. I prefer variety, she sings about the same things and expresses the same emotions in EVERY DAMN SONG. Girl, you’re not the first to be heartbroken. But congrats to her though, compared to those she was nominated with, she actually deserved those awards.

I absolutely love Adele. Her voice and the lyrics are always complimented well by her musical arrangement. Yes she sings about the same heart aches that everyone has felt, but…I enjoy her version. But like a few of you have said, 21 was a bit depressing. I like 19 better. Just depends on your musical taste I guess.

I’m so embarrassed for Nicki’s performance. I can’t believe that no one told her at rehearsals that her performance sucked. I wanted to like her and I had high hopes for her, but stuff like this is really making it hard. She killed her career with stupid h*e, and performances and acts like this aren’t going to revive it.
Nicki was definitely a disaster and I dont commend her corny and obvious influence from Lady Gaga. She needs to be original and it’s obvious that she is still working on finding herself as a artist b/c she has been working off everyone else’s image since day one. Love her delivery as a “rapper” / pop artist, BUT there is major work needed in the presentation department.

Adele deserves her Grammys, I mean, talent plus sales! However, I think her success is due to the fact that she is white. Period. White female + soulful voice doing R&B and you have the world at your feet. I’m happy for her but there are many artists out there who stand and sing. If Jazmine Sullivan was white, she would have been where Adele is probably. What a socitey we live in.

jennifer hudson/beyonce/ledisi/jill scott/jazmine sullivan do the same thing and people say they’re screaming and doing too much, it’s such a double standard it’s not even funny. i guess because it’s not expected of white artist to sing like that so people get all surprised and fall over themselves but really this isn’t new, white girls can sing and have been sanging for quite some time.
every year i just wait for the new it white girl and it never fails, anyway….
adele’s gotten all this success/awards off the strength of one song “rolling in the deep” the rest of the album except for ‘lovesong” and “someone like you” is very blah and is just a derivative of “19″ which was a much better album and is much more deserving of these accolades.
despite all that, i’m still happy she won these awards and that they didn’t go to some of these other artists that can’t really sing except in a studio, don’t write their own music, or are just plain manufactured.
hands down she was the best this year, but she better bring something different next time!!!!

First of all Beyonce’s album was NOT nominated! So how the hell could she have won?! Chris was given the Grammy because they felt that he DESERVED that Grammy! It’s not his fault they got rid of half the damn r&b categories and put hit up against traditional r&b artist! He can’t control the way they screwed up the r&b categories! FAME was the highest selling album in that category & has the most hits so it was obvious FAME was the front runner. Other than RKelly the rest of the artist are pretty much unknown and didn’t stand a chance.
Furthermore, Chris DOES sing you idiot! He sang live at the Grammys! He sang on ‘TUTM’ and the ‘I Can Only Imagine’ with David Guetta’! He also sang at the AMA’s during ‘All Back’! He sung ‘She Ain’t You’ at the BET Awards, he sung ‘No BS’ on SNL! He also sung live at ALL of his FAME shows!

I thought Nicki Minaj’s performance was a little, um, creepy. I noticed her left hand, while in restraints, were making a weird “sign” (if it was a sign at all and not just the way the restraint guided her hand). I honestly believe that it was an initiation so it wasn’t for us to understand.
Rih looked very hot , and sound GREAT , Jennifer Hud , was outstanding .

The Grammys were horrible! Many of the performances were boring and stupid.
Anyone who thinks Rihanna’s performance was good is a booty licker or part of her camp! Rihanna, tell your ghetto friends to stop trying to make you look good. I am disgusted by her nasty dancing. Her popping out her flat a– was gross and her voice was irritating. How the h-ll can’t Rihanna and Chris Martin harmonize during a duet? They sounded like dying cats! I hate it when Rihann tries so hard to act like she can sing. The only “tribute” she did to Whitney was looking like a crackhead like how Whitney looked in public for a great amount of years (R.I.P. Whitney).

Chris Brown, he’s such an amazing dancing and him dancing on those platforms was so intense, I kept saying OMG don’t fall, but he has to learn how to not make it so repetitive. I wish I would have seen him do more and sing more live.

Oh yeah and with Adele, I agree with many others. They were kissing her a– too much! Adele is not all that. Yes, she has a big voice and can sing, but she doesn’t have that deep, ugly soul type voice that makes you really feel the emotion and her voice isn’t versatile. She sings the same notes, has very similar, basic melodies, and her voice is kinda bland. She sounds sad all the time to me. I am glad she won big because she’s selling talent instead of sex, but I don’t care for her.
Adele was great. Im glad all the gimmick artists (gaga, katy, nikki, or pink) won anything. The grammys show was not that good but I enjoyed seeing live bands. It was a bit refreshing than watching a bunch of rappers onstage and bleeped out cussing. Rhianna should only be seen, not heard. Chris brown was eh and is he really r&b?. Taylor swift stays in her range. Shes dosent have good voice but ive never seen her sexed up which is a plus and. Nikki was just awful.

I would have to agree with most of the comments,in that the Grammy Awards were tired,except for a few of the live non lip synched performances,Bruno Mars was entertaining,channeling the late Elvis Presley.Adele was great,Jennifer Hudson was good,despite the fact she was quickly tapped at the last minute, to sing one of Whitney Houston’s signature songs,everyone else in my opinion looked as they were performing in a high school talent show,sleep walking through their performances,I feel that on music biggest night,and you have the chance to perform in front of millions and millions of people,you should bring your A+++ game.I’m realy happy people are starting to see through the bull-crap that is passed off to the public as music and musicians.If you can’t perform live,you should not be able to perform at the Grammy awards or tour.Just my two cents about the Grammys!!!!
I also thought the Grammy’s overall were boring. I wish I could have my3 & 1/2 hrs back. They’ll have to offer better & more interesting performers to get me to watch next year.
