♫ Robin Thicke – Exhale (Shoop Shoop)
♫ ALTERNATE LINK ♫
Robin Thicke pays tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston by covering her classic from the original motion picture soundtrack to Waiting To Exhale, “Exhale (Shoop Shoop).” We were pleasantly surprised by the unexpected acoustic cover. It’s not really the first song that you think about when talking songs to tribute Whitney!

Is this a joke? The woman’s body is not even cold in the ground yet and folk have the nerve to re-make one of her songs already? The things people will do for money.
Just another white guy trying to make money off black talent and spiritual gift. Just Like Clive Davis…The thing is, whitney and Michael Jackson were some of the last two that let white folk make millions off the back of their god give talent. Beyance, lil wayne, Jayz and the other alike are not allowing that form a slavery.
Robin Thicke is always up in black folk mix.. trying to see how he can come up financially..
@Chuck
MJ and Ms. Houston did not let white people make money off their backs. They set precedents for the recording contracts and concert tours they signed at a time when it was hard for black artist to get those kinds of deals. They and other artist like Marvin Gaye and Ray Charles pave the way so Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Jay Z and other up and coming artist can reap more rewards from their success.
Why does it have to be like that? Why can’t I just be paying homage to a legend?
thankyou @Robin’s thicke , you people are ridiculous , why do black people always have to bring up race , why does he have to be the white boy . come on grow up . I love love Robin Thicke and i think he did a beautiful job.

Homage. All Robin is doing is paying respect in a musical manner. As a black man, it really bothers me when I see other black people making everything so racial! Robin doesn’t try to make money off of black people! He performs, and writes music for every race on the planet. we as a people have to stop being one sided Racists, what about the Black artists the cover songs written by other artists of other races? Case in point, one of the biggest song sang by the late Whitney Houston was “I will always Love you”, That was Dolly Parton’s song (a white woman). So unless you’re gonna make your arguments fair, dont make them at all.
We LOVE you whitney may your Music live on and continue to be covered in a respectful manner such as this!
Good job Robin!

hey stupids….. dis is from way before whitney died.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTtUlCqvevg
very good!! i love it!! Good job! :>)
I think the song is very touching and good tribute to Whitney. RIP Whitney Houston.
@THECONCRETELOOPIST….I don’t think he was remaking the song. I believe he was simply trying to show his love for Whitney by singing one of her songs. I mean after all he is a recording artist and maybe it is his only way of expressing his feelings and love for her….like a poet would do by writing poetry. Like what a painter would do by painting and so on. It’s just his way of showing love for her and I for one think he did a great job. He changed it up a little bit to suit a guy singing it and it was wonderful. People are so hung up on just focusing on the negative instead of seeing positive in people. I feel bad for the world because these are the same people breeding like rabbits and passing it on to another generation. Good Job Robin and thanks for the TRIBUTE!
Chile, boo.
no, boo you Concrete-whateva. always has to be someone funky around to spit in the communion juice….well said, Mrlighteyes.
thankyou @mrligheyez
Ya’ll ain ysh. That white boi ain’ even thinkin’ bout ya’ll.
No communion going on here, boo. Just ya’ll groupies standing up for a white man trying to get coins off Whitney, chile.

Aww, that was nice. He has a beautiful voice.. Every time I listen to this song or any song by her, I feel a terrible loss, like my soul hurts. I didn’t know Whitney personally, but growing up trying to sang all of her songs with my cousins and in the shower, its still a shock. I was rooting for Whitney and she made it to a better place, after all.
Co-sign 1000000%
that was real nice, i enjoyed that. one of my favorite whitney songs.
It was a good cover in my opinion. He made it his own while still giving a good tribute to Whitney.
Why do people assume people are just trying to make money off of people when they die, could it be that her death just touched this man and he wanted to pay tribute, I’m quite sure Robin has plenty of money in the bank, my goodness!
Great job, Robin. I really enjoyed his rendition of the song.
@ CHUCK….hey big mouth….Whitneys biggest song wasnt hers. It was originally a country song that belonged to Dolly Parton who is …. WHITE!! But white people redo black people songs all the time…mmmkay. IT goes both ways you ignorANUS.
He did a good job and I can’t believe that Whitney’s gone.
That was really beautiful. It had almost a gospel feel to me. Nobody does it like Whitney, but that was really nice and it felt (to me) heartfelt.
Beautiful and touching tribute! Very well done.
Amazing.
I love it!
I’m so frickin mad at Whitney.
Likewise
robin actually did this years ago. it’s touched up a bit with the background vox, but i orginally saw a video of this and had someone rip the audio for me. he “re-released” it once whitney passed.
i love robin, and thought it was a nice gesture. those of us who were fans feel some sort of void with whitney’s passing, and officially releasing this was his way of saying thanks for the years of inspiration. i really don’t think it’s any deeper than that…just my opinion.
here’s the link to the video i saw a few years back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTtUlCqvevg
That’s a no no. Stay in your lane Mr. Growing Pains son!
I’m not feeling it sounds really depressing and the song was meant to be encouraging.
It’s not his singing I’m not feeling, it’s the fact that he messed up on the lyrics..I mean seriously Robin? We’re you drunk going into the studio or what…sheesh. Correct lyrics by Whitney-Everyone falls in love sometimes- Incorrect lyrics by Robin-everyone falls-falls down sometimes- really wtf???
He changed the lyrics intentionally. There are other change ups he made as well to make it relevant to what’s going on. It’s nice.
Robin should have left this song along. Everyone is coming out of the wood work trying to do rendition’s of Whitney’s songs and it’s ok to pay homage, but I hope he is not trying to market this as a single so soon after her death.
YA’LL FOOLS ITS A TRIBUTE SONG OBVIOUSLY AND ROBIN DID A GOOD JOB FOR BEING A MALE VERSION “YOU GO BOY!” (IN GINA’S VOICE)
He changed the words to reflect Whitney’s worldly pain and she “Exhaled” meaning went back to the Creator. Haven’t been the best Robin Fan but the guy is gifted!
NOOOOOOO. Sorry brutha. Too thin. Whitney has more depth in her voice. It’s hard to listen to.
People are so negivate but oh well i think it’s dope
i can’t co-sign this!!
like someone above said i’m so mad at whitney for dying, now we have to deal with this kind of f8ckery!!!
i know his heart is in the right place but damn….
Somthing about RT’s voice is so soothing…like a tangible piece of peace…this is no exception, well done a beautiful tribute.
people are so angry on the blogs sheeeesh calm down! smh…………….anyways I think he sounded very nice I like his voice! something soooo soothing!
I can’t STAND this pale bama right here! Ugh! Jimmy Neutron lookin’ self.
I just had to reply to that ignorant statement that Chuck made. First of all, Micheal Jackson owned most of his publishing rights, so your statement is just false. He also owned the catalog that included The Beatles, Babyface, Little Richard(which he gave back to Richard), and half of the artist that you associate with the early years of Rock and Roll. In short, Mike’s catalog was the Holy Grail of music. There are also other artist that owned most of their own rights…Ray Charles, James Brown, are just two.
