After recently announcing her departure/separation from Bad Boy Entertainment, Dawn Richard is still releasing music from her upcoming solo EP, Armor On.
The latest of the material to break is the Druski-produced, “Black Lipstick,” one of the seven tracks that will be found on the new project, due March 27th.
This song is amazing it is truly the direction I was hoping she would go. Her harmonies are excellent. It’s amazing what people like and don’t like. I have accepted that most people don’t like ground breaking good music and Dawn proves that. I am a fan of hers because she is gifted musically and is a true artist I hope she has the success and acclaim she deserves
OMG, since Brandy refuses to provide us with the sound she gave us with Full Moon nowadays, Dawn Richard is giving me everything I need! I love this!!! It’s the old Brandy, I just love it! The best music I’ve heard since Brandy’s “Talk About Our Love.” Yes!!!
She’s every spit of Brandy. All harmonies, and boring ass songs. Talented, but I would never buy her material. Apparently the masses agree bc neither can release a hit to save their lives.
The lyrics are amazing. Dawn brings good music and it’s different. Just like Adele did! Love it!

It’s like when they compared Trey Songz to R. Kelly or Neyo to Usher…they always compare the new artist to the one that is already established, and all of them have flourishing careers, so I’m anticipating Dawn to have a great career as well. Both Brandy and Dawn are talented, but for some reason in the black community, we have to have an “either/or”. We don’t allow multiple people to shine in their own rights and it’s a bit sad.
