REMEMBERING WHITNEY: OUR FAVORITE SONGS + MUSIC VIDEOS

February 12th, 2012

We all loved her dynamic, powerhouse voice. So many have tried to emulate her, but none have come close to being as phenomenal as Whitney Houston. While winning music awards her chart topping hit songs like “How Will I Know” and “I’m Your Baby Tonight,” the late legendary singer took on modeling and worked her acting skills, playing lead roles in films like The Body Guard and Waiting to Exhale.

Despite battling the highs and lows of her life over the years, Houston managed to make a positive comeback to music and film. Although she has moved on in body and spirit, her music will live on for generations to come. Below are some compiled music videos & performances from Whitney’s 35-year career in the music industry. Rest in perfect peace, Whitney.

Still tough to process, like with MJ…her version of “I Will Always Love You” is timeless. “I Have Nothing” is classic…too many

My friend just met a chocolate man on Blackwhitemeet.COMit’s where for men and women looking for interracial’ship for a fabulous lifestyle
It’s a nice place for black white sing’les, to interact with each other…no bounds or extremes in front of true love.

This still doesn’t feel real. My favorite song will always be Why Does It Hurt So Bad. But you can’t just choose one favorite Whitney song.

    • I believe production was pretty much done, so they are probably going to release it as scheduled later this year.

Thanks Angel. I still can’t believe it, 48 is such a young age and she seemed to be on the mend. All of our true Black Icons are dying, the artists now are artists of a generation and the Whitney’s, Michaels, Luther’s to name a few are artists of a life time. These artists never had digital downloads to break records, just hardcore fans who would queue outside Tower Records for LP’s and CD’s and concert tickets and crossed over to mainstream with decent songs and amazing vocals.
Again, R.I.P Whitney. God will cleanse your sour and repair your instrument allowing you to sing for him with the gift he gave you.

All The Man That I need. She was really good, one of the best. People dont understand how it is important but in France in the 80′ we had no black figure but Whitney Houston, she was beautiful and really talented. Now what do we have ? ( Only black singers who love to show what we dont need to see). Rest In Peace Whitney. REST IN PEACE

Why no one EVER gives recognition to “My love is your love” Its like her second best selling record that wasn’t a remake! And its so more passionate during this time b/c bobby kristina says the “sing mommy” in the beginning…. but anyway i am deeply sadden by this smh I can’t wait til they find out the cause of death!

Because I am a TRUE Whitney fan, I can not just pick one. However, if I had to just select one, it would definitely be The Greatest Love of All. I’ve sung that song most of my life in talent shows and at church. I still can’t believe this. She was the greatest vocalist ever! We will always love you Whitney!!

I don’t have a favourite Whitney song. In her heyday she could sing the ABC and I’d like it.

This is hitting me really hard, I’ve been listening to this woman since I was 5 years old, and I say You Give Good Love,Jesus Love Me, Run to You, Queen of the Night because that was my childhood right there, teenage years was Exhale. I’m just numb right now, I can’t stop crying because piece of my childhood is going with these legends. Can’t talk anymore….

    “I learned from the best”
    “Your love is my love”
    “Waiting to exhale”
    “We have something in common”…

With MJ’s death, now Whitney Houston, this is the end of an era, when artists were known for their amazing talent above all.

I have a thought for Bobbi Kristina, I wish she stays strong.

“I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity

I find it very ironic that I was watching The Bodyguard last night when news broke that she passed away. I thought it was just a rumor but i soon found out that it was absolutely true.

I was born in the early 90′s, so the Whitney songs I’m more familiar with are her ones from the late 90′s on but I do know some earlier songs. I like “When You Believe”, “My Love is Your Love” , “Something in Common”, “Greatest Love of All”, and the list goes on. R.I.P. Whitney Houston.

Whitney… I cannot pick one song, but I really like “You Were Loved.” Her voice and artistry resonates with me in ways that no other artist has. She’s still here in spirit. Love and Light.

I was hooked from the first time I heard her very first single “You Give Good Love”. Go to youtube and search for Whitney Houston and Carson to see her live performance in 1985 or search for her live performance on the 1987 Soul Train Awards.

There are too many to count and I won’t even try. I’m just deeply saddened by her passing and I was so hoping that she would have made a full comeback and show these “artists” what REAL TALENT is. There will never be another. My prayers and condolences go to her family and loved ones especially her daughter, Bobbi Kristina….

It would be difficult to narrow it down to one. I can’t think of one song she made that I didn’t like and that’s saying alot in this day and age of one hit wonders and thrown together discs. Luv ya Nippy, RIP!
