Looks like Janet Hubert aka Aunt Viv has found a new victim to cut to pieces. Move over Will Smith because Ms. Hubert has got a word or two for talk show host Wendy Williams. After watching Wendy’s emotional commentary on the death of Whitney Houston, the former Fresh Prince actress decided to write an open letter to Wendy, calling her out for her past treatment of Whitney Houston and celebrities alike (during her radio days). Dear Wendy,
This past weekend was a very difficult time for so many of us.
Though I never knew Whitney Houston, I felt a profound sense of loss and sadness. On Sunday morning I took my dog for a walk in the park across the street and still could not shake the sadness I felt. I wondered if what I was feeling was perhaps related to losing my mother and brother this past year, but then I thought no, it was something else.
I watched the funeral service with the rest of the world, and cried time and time again with each story that was told. I felt like I knew more about this amazing woman than ever before. We all watched her as a little girl, center stage, singing like a bird, she was destined for superstardom. To watch her center stage full circle in death was a feeling no mother should ever have to feel. I applaud Ms. Warwick, the pastor, and all others who formed a police line of love and protection around her that was impenetrable only to those who really knew her. We, the public accepted their decision to keep it private, but they allowed us to witness her Home Going ceremony, I don’t know if I could have been so gracious. WE felt like we knew her and we knew nothing about her except what we read and hear from people like you and other media outlets. I listened to her interview with you and was compelled to say out loud. “Go on Whitney tell her like it is,” when you pried into her life back then. I had my son in the same year as Ms. Houston; we did Ebony Magazine that same year, she introducing her baby girl and me my son. I am trying to be dignified, but here goes.
The Internet has become somewhat like the 10 commandments, and this is why… whatever is posted or commented on… is forever written in stone. Neither I nor anybody can stop anyone from making up stories, reviews, lies etc, cutting and pasting whatever they decide to put together like a bad buffet breakfast.
I have had some horrible meals shoved down my throat on the web that I had no parts of.
I still have a bad taste in my mouth from a recent cut and paste meal from your beloved TMZ (THE MUDSLINGING ZONE). I believe you said once “If you heard it on TMZ then it must be true,” really Wendy?
The Internet is indeed the information highway, but it can also be “a Forum of Hate.”
You said that morning with tears in your eyes, that you would not discuss Whitney any further, but you crucified her the whole time she was alive, as you do so many people on your show. I want to ask you why? What do you get out of this besides money?
How do you sleep at night knowing that you are one of the biggest bullies in the world disguised as HOT TOPICS? Celebrities are not topics we are people, just like everyone else, we hurt and we hear and we bleed real blood, not fake blood, just as you do.
How do we as parents teach our children to honor each other, treat each other with kindness when all they see are images of people like you who condone and promote meanness, rude reality TV stars, and your opinion as you berate world renowned people like Janet Jackson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and others you slam on a daily basis.
I keep asking myself why no one is saying anything about this. What the hell are they afraid of? Where are my sisters out there who feel as I do?
Well Wendy, I try to teach my son to stand up, shout, and scream when there is injustice. Yeah yeah, I know, I have been screaming for years and will continue to do so as long as there are images that depict black women as neck shaking, over bearing women who can’t get along.
A sister, a mother, a daughter, a star, left this world way too early; she was loved by the world. The world mourned, I don’t think that we needed you to try and take down another brilliant sister on that following Monday morning. (Your rude comments about Janet Jackson)
You started right back up without hesitation or pause… you need to stop Wendy. We need to stop, and the world needs to stop. I need to stop as well. There will be no more quotes from me to be misquoted. We need to join together, wrap our arms around our children, everybody’s children. Remember you have a child who will suffer every slingshot and arrow that gets thrown back at you Wendy; our public lives greatly affect our children.
I know I am going to suffer some arrows for writing this letter to you, I know you are loved by many, but remember this Wendy; they love you when you are up and they love to take you down. You will not always be up, you will not always be on the A list and attend all the parties. Ride the wave sister girl, but make sure you know how to swim when the ride is over. Artists are survivors, we work hard to build our crafts and careers and I ask that you simply remember that in the future.

This bitch is always crying over something. She really needs to sit down and stfu. Celebs get talked about constantly. But for her to try and down play Wendy’s emotions for Whitney is absurd. I truly agree with Janet Hubert. I made sure to tune in that Monday just to see if Wendy would say kinds words about Whitney. If you pay attention she made sure not to mention or go in too deep about the radio interview. As she continued I felt that she was sorry but not fully. The “tribute” began about Whitney but turned into Wendy and her battles! Wendy needs to realize that she is still doing the same thing just in a different format and her constant trash talking about people is going to catch up with her one day. Was it sincere sadness at her loss (at she attempted to connect their struggles with drugs), or was it guilt (knowing she had contributed to kicking the woman while she was down)? I also find it funny (ironic), days prior, she was having herself a good ol’ time cackling about Whitney’s antics on “Being Bobby Brown”. Like I said, she is a part of the problem. Agree with Janet 100% (although she will hear it from many about the use of the term “celebrity” when referring to herself). Wendy’s show is hard to watch – she’s so unprofessional during her interviews that I find myself cringing at times. She’ll ask serious personal/emotional questions while laughing or smiling when she should be serious. She’ll give her “celebrity friends” advice on how to deal with a serious/tough situation when if they were really her friends she would’ve gone to them personally.

I liked the letter. It was straight, to the point & honest. Who can hate on that. I too was surprised at how Wendy cried about Whitney, I remember how Wendy treated her some years ago. Maybe Wendy’s guilty conscience caught up with her at that moment. Wendy is so fake anyway!
She made very interesting points, but I would’ve just stuck to how Wendy tried Whitney in 2002 then wanted to do a complete 180 on the show the other week and left it at that. All the other crap was unnecessary but you know Janet Hubert chile…

How do you speak negative about someone who inspires you? Wendy is full of crap and like Whitney said during the interview “I’m not your friend” and “You never even met me in your life so keep my name out your mouth” so again Wendy your career won’t last forever and remember just like you kicked Whitney when she was down someone else will kick you when your down as well. I so agree with Miss Janet. Wendy is the epitome of self hate, thus making it easy to put down others…I mean sure to some extent she is entertaining to the masses because thats what our society like to see (examples ..all the ridiculous reality shows.) But yes as black women we do need to set examples of self love and oneness…I personally think Wendy caters to the white people by berating her own folk. Just because you where a former addict and over came your addiction does not give you a right to ridicule others, try lifting them up with your testomony of how you over came. But I will say she has progressed into a better person on t.v then on the radio, but as sista to another sista I still have hope in her that she can use whitneys death as a turning point to do better.
Look whether its her job or not to gossip about people, it is what it is. If Wendy chooses to make gossip her profession. then she sets herself up for criticism. It’s not all one sided. U want to talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk. If Wendy puts her opinion of others on public display then she has to take the public response to her actions. I don’t like either one of these women. Wendy the loud mouth makes her living off gossip and Janet always seems so angry and spiteful towards anyone who will listen.
Both Janet and Whitney knew what kind of mess they were signing up for when they entered the entertainment industry. There’s no reason to be upset over a woman who obviously didn’t care enough about herself to stay sober-not even for her own daughter.
Yeah Wendy is part of the problem, but the Celebrity-Idol culture is a bigger part. We should also keep in mind that alot of the stuff that is heard at the core the gossip has come from the celebrities actions or words. Also in some cases a person in the camp that is just “getting theirs”. Then we also have to look a society to see that all things are mess up. Look at the phrase,”hoes be winning”. We are in a bad place as people of the world. Yeah even I admit I sometimes laugh a Wendy, and sometimes I say she should not have said that. I find myself saying the same thing about Sandrarose.com. There is a mountain to corrections to the way things are done that would have to be corrected. It just does not make sense to call out one rock for blocking the view when there is a custer of mountains.
Let us not forget we as the general public participate in the shenanigans that is put out, so if we stopped paying attention to this then alot this would probable fade into obscurity. Judge your place in the problem and fix it. P.S. I do respect Ms. Janet Hubert’s integrity, and talk alot of balls to express you opinion even if it’s not a popular one. It seems like the only reason she did not go further in her career is because she would not play the game, and hell I can understand. Why should there be a game at all.

Tell it like it is, the truth I too found it ironic that wendy was praising Whitney when all she did was bash her when she was alive like so many other media outlets have done. Which is part of Wendys business but it breaks people after awhile I have no idea what it feels like to have the world know your business and scrutinize you without knowing you. Some one once said above all the things her mother taught her growing up the one thing that stands out the most is this “Above all to thine own self be true”. Continue to stay true to yourself Mrs. Hubert because as you have shown that standing up for the truth and being honest to yourself is much greater the wealth and fame. Because wealth and fame will always come and go but the person you see when you stand in front of the mirror is there to stay. So we must decide whether the person looking back at us will be true to themselves and honorable .

I was surprised she became as popular as she is and then realized its the sign of the times that people like shadiness and meaness disguised as “keeping it real” bs or “say whats on your mind” crap. What Aunt Viv is saying is simply the truth, but Wendy is paid to do what she does. It was her mouth that landed her that t.v. show, and it’s her mouth that’s gonna keep her there. The same thing was done to Michael Jackson. They lashed him out while he was alive. He went in hiding twice, and couldn’t seem to catch a break. But when he died, that’s when all the respect he once had was given back to him smh. People treat a person’s casket better than they would have treated that person if they were alive. Even a murderer gets a proper burial. So Aunt Vivs shouldn’t sweat it. She should keep whatever little blood pressure she has left low.

While the tears may have been real for HER, the fact that she and others took such an open and negative stance against an artist who was already going through something as serious as drug abuse – even worse, something she had gone through herself, is deplorable. Writing and saying unkind things is easy. Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and caring about something or someone even if the situation does not pertain to you is decent and HUMAN! And, as a woman, an African American and more precisely a veteran who made such a positive and distingished mark in the difficult world of show business, you have as much right or more to express your feelings and concerns. As much as I respect Miss Huberts work on Fresh Prince. Janet is WRONG for this one . Wendy had a connection to Whitney in the fact that they both were full blown cocaine addicts. Wendy always admired Whitney and wanted her to come out a winner over the drugs. There were reports she was in rehab once again months before her death. This lead Wendy to breaking down that monday. She knows how hard the addiction was and she only cared about Whitney and wanted her to beat that terrible drug dependency. She loved Whitney and Whitney was a friend in her head. Wendy loves talking about hot topics its a business but she is in no way out to to bring them down. Her energy is if anything always positive. I think Janet is bitter and wants her two minutes of fame through this letter. I wouldn’t even be surprised if this was an indirect hidden ploy for her to be lookd at to even play Whitney in a bio pic movie or something. Janet Hubert is not fooling me.
