With Bravo TV, E!, VH1 and more taking over the reality television scene, the TLC network has decided to add new type of reality sitcom to their programming. What better way to capitalize on entertainment then to start a series based on the lives of the First Ladies/preacher wives in the Atlanta area?
“TLC has ordered a new program that follows strong-willed Atlanta women with leadership roles in the city’s religious community. The women on the show manage day-to-day politics at churches, help troubled or needy congregants, and hire and fire staff. Some even step up to the pulpit to sermonize.” [Source]
No word on when the show is expected to start taping or airing. The cast’s roster hasn’t been revealed either. Let’s see if Bishop Eddie Long’s wife will join the shenanigans.

I was thinking the same thing! I don’t like this at all. Reality shows = drama.
Still, TLC reality shows usually don’t go the drama route (cursin, fightin, etc. a la Bravo or VH1) for the most part so it may not be that bad. Anyway, hopefully, these women won’t disgrace themselves, their husbands and their churches OR turn more people AWAY from the church!
This is a horrible look for these people. In looking at reality TV today, what church really would want to be a part of it? If you can’t glorify God by what you do, you shouldn’t be doing it, right?

Don’t they know that church people are one of the noseist people on earth. Their always talking shit about everbody else or think everybody else’s business is their business. Why would the TLC channel do a show about preacher’s wives in Atlanta? There are churches in New York, California,Folrida, New Jersey, Ohio and so on.
That’s a good point. As soon as I saw Atlanta, I said they are looking for drama, which they have equated to black folks, hence, “let’s find a good old Southern black church and let the craziness begin.” They may have some white churches or at least one so as not to look one sided.
I did comment already that TLC usually doesn’t go the drama route so hopefully that will be the case with this show.
When I found out about this, my initial thought was, the black church had officially signed themselves over to the devil. I noticed that I only had that thought because of the negative perception that typically comes to mind when you think of a group of women on a reality show. After much thought, I came to the conclusion that this may not be a bad idea. Hopefully they exemplify how real women should behave. — My mother hates reality shows, but when I asked her would should watch one about some church women, she showed great interest. I actually applaud TLC marketing team for testing the waters with that idea.Black church women are a underrated market and an Aladdin’s cave, once discovered. Tyler Perry is evident of that.
I don’t really want to see this, but I think TLC is a better choice to get the show together than say, VH1. If it was VH1, you would know for a fact it’s all about ignorance.

HeY guys, TLC didn’t reveal they were only going to feature black pastors. I’m sure there will be white ones too. Stop jumping to conclusions. This will probably shed a positive light on men and women in the ministry. And hey, there are a few openly gay pastors with spoouses with large gay congregations in Atlanta too. Let’s not be so backwoodsy, people! THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!
