While performing “Even Angels” in Chicago on Tuesday night (February 14), singer Fantasia Barrino shared her personal point of view on the struggles of being a celebrity and spoke about how she understands what artists like Whitney Houston go through when having to resort to other things to get away:
I understand what those artists go through. When they become superstars, they lose their family, they lose their old friends. Anybody’s that feels that they should be doing this and doing that and they just want to be regular people. So what happens is they start turning to other things. I promise you. Just to get away from folk.
Whitney Houston, I love her. She touched me in a special way. And to this day I still can’t believe that she is gone. But we must pray for her mother, we must pray for her – her mother lost her baby, when we don’t really know the situation.

Fantasia, girl you are blessed by GOD!!! That was a powerful word… People really need to focus on the spiritual side of this! Whitney Houston is just another example of Great Talent that was truly sent here by God… Eventhough, their are a lot of “Singers” she (Whitney Elizabeth Houston) was the a Great singer and b=not a gimmic… I respect the fact that she came from a classy generation that kept her clothes on and truly sang about REAL LOVE! God is LOVE… People in the media are focusing on her so called DRUG ADDICTION! When God anoints His children, the enemy most certainly will put things in their/our way to try to deviate us from His path. You can tell she grew up in the church and maybe she has a calling that she will move toward in the future.Everyone has their own mess to deal with and none of us are qualified to judge as we don’t know all of anyone’s story but our own.

Just because you put on a “preachers voice” and say “churchy things” when you say something, it doesn’t make it gospel. Having a gift and an anointing are two different things. The anointing has all to do with the Holy Spirit, and what He does in that anointing. Nobody got to know who God was through Don’t walk away from me, how will I know etc. God’s anointing is all about calling God’s people to something. A gift as beautiful as it is a gift that can be utilized for God’s glory but the gift holder makes that decision of how it’s utilized.
Whitney was a beautifully gifted woman, I do believe even in all of her struggles that she was a Christian, only God truly knows but point being I don’t judge where she is, not my point at all in what I’m saying here. But black folks are the most unknowing/uneducated folks on the planet when it comes down to who God is. Will sit under a false preacher/teacher which God warns His people to flee from and call them a man of God. And will believe anything as long as it sounds Christian enough or godly enough. Let me be clear, God can and does use people not what I’m saying either. But the believer is called to test the spirit to see if it is from God, and also to study to show thyself approved. So for the believer you should know what God word is and what it is saying not by the way a person presents it but by studying as led by the Holy Spirit. The believer is anointed by the Holy Spirit to give God’s word to the unbelieving (and edify the church) but you will know God in full as lead by studying His word, as lead by His Spirit.
