MUSIC DOWNLOAD: PJ MORTON’s ‘FOLLOWING MY FIRST MIND’ EP

Almost two years after his last studio album, ‘I Walk Alone‘ and mixtape, ‘Independently Major‘, New Orleans-bred singer/songwriter/musician PJ Morton is back with a brand new EP. This comes on the heels of his surprise artist deal with Young Money AND becoming the newest band member of Maroon 5, Morton is giving the world a glimpse of what is to come — through his latest project, ‘Follow My First Mind.’

The 7-track compilation opens with a head-nodding interlude, alluring us into Morton’s world. It then transitions smoothly into “Never Get Over You,” a groovy, guitar and horn-heavy track about a lady he can’t seem to shake off. Following this track, Morton and his band-mate Adam Levine (of Maroon 5) bring a bit of funk with the organ-accented tune, “Heavy.” Two tracks later, PJ & Jazmine Sullivan sing about sticking together through thick and thin in “Built For Love.”

The EP wraps up with Lil Wayne joining in on Morton’s anthem-like track “Lover” and a smooth & sweet acoustic track, “Saying Hello,” featuring Chantae Cann. All in all, ‘Follow My First Mind’ is a great listen. We definitely look forward to his forthcoming studio album.
