RANDOM PICS: SOLANGE & JULEZ VISIT RWANDA

March 7th, 2012

Solange Knowles has been bitten by a travel bug and has made another trip to overseas. The 25-year-old singer and her partner-in-crime/son, Julez, caught a flight to the central-eastern parts of Africa and visited the Rwanda’s capital & largest city, Kigali.

The singer posted some pictures on her Tumblr page and captured her experience with the people of the city in some beautiful photos. Check out some more of her pics down below.

@WAKE UP: why are you mad?? Is it because she went to Africa to learn about the people and you can’t?? I can’t stand ignorant black Americans!!! No wonder real African people who have sense don’t acknowledge your stink ass!! Good thing I’m Ghanaian because the ignorance in you sickens me!! You disgust me, because of you, black people never prosper, always hating on black people. POOF BE GONE AND KICK ROCKS!!! YUCK!!!

@Jessica what you shouldn’t do is classify one black person who has their own opinion with every black person. Secondly the last thing you can do is talk about black americans when all that crazy ungodly sh*t is going on in Africa. You’re the first one’s running behind whites and bleaching you’re damn skin to be something that you will never be. Oh I’m sorry wasn’t it Africans selling their own people into slavery? Don’t start that American Sh*t on this blog. Take your ass home if you have a problem with black people. I don’t claim anything but being black all day everyday and I’m proud of it. Oh and come get your people off the streets of New York selling all these damn fake handbags.

What is with Wake Up’s unnecessary use of apostrophes? Did he/she learn nothing in grammar school? Other than that, I agree with you. I love to see our people visit Africa. Not all of us are so fortunate.

I fully agree with ms michelle. I don’t agree with wake up, but I’m not made because that’s wake ups opinion. Jessica you should go kick rocks, oviousely you are to into listening to his-tory than really researching the turth about all of our history. Africans sold their own, not realizing what would happen, but still sold their people.but like michelle I know the deal U make me sick, I can’t stand non-knowledgeable people whom try to belittle others.
Anyhway , love the pics, and when I have it I will deff make a plan to travel to africa at least one time in my life.

@Jessica, I would think you would know you are on the WRONG blog to be hating on black Americans. You probably live in America, yet ironically, you are on your high horse hating on the black people in the country. Feel better? As if black Americans need you or any other person from Africa to acknowledge us in order to feel legitimized. I’m black, and the fact is, my ancestry is from Africa, regardless of your “blessing,” like it or not. I never claim to be from Africa or African, nor do I claim to have a wide knowledge of African cultures, but your lack of “claiming” me in the “African family” doesn’t change my life one bit. And anyway, as far as popular culture goes, who do you think young black people all over the world (including in Africa) take an interest in and try to emulate–oh, that’s right, black AMERICAN celebrities. That’s why you are on this blog. Get over yourself.

And so what if she uses her sister money if HER sister gives it to her? Come on man! Blacks are the first to talk about loving family and each other; but the first to talk sh*t when people actually do it.

What would Beyonce even do with all that money she has except to share it with family, friends, and those in need?

Get real black people! We are our own worst enemies and nightmares.

If I had Beyonce’s money, I would hook most of my people up. Ask them to establish something that will benefit the community and themselves. Go on vacation when they want, and enjoy life.

I think the photos are beautiful. Very educational as well. They will experience life outside their celebrity bubble life here in America.

The photos are very classy and meaningful.

@WAKE UP, you really need to wake up.there is no written law that those who earn more money should give more.you give what you can.even God does not discriminate.rich or poor He still appreciates what you give to the others.what have you given to those around you?it doesn’t have to be Africa.we aint a dying race you know.some of us might be ignorant but there are some of us educated enough so stop hating on people.let solange and bee live their lives as they want.

she may be using a lomo….but most likely she’s using an instagram type app. i’m truly unimpressed. it sort of looks like she just flew their to take some pictures. sort of lame if you think about it…considering all that kigali has gone through. it’s not meant to be a backdrop for your self-indulged vacay photo shoot.

Some of you are absolutely ridiculous..
So Solange travelled ALL the way to Africa to take photos? You mean to tell me whenever you go on vacation you don’t take any photos at all? You’re all activists who don’t have time for photos right?
It’s not like she publicized her trip like Kim Kardashian did when she went to Haiti – now that was more of a photo op.

    Oh boy

She can’t win. A handful of photos don’t necessary say she didn’t do any charity work while there. Had she posted pics in an orphange or something, there are those who would criticize her for exploiting the needy. You guys take everything too far.

BTW, what’s with the African versus African American comments? Last I checked y’all the same people.

Solo is just plain wack and what does she do again? And her sister’s sound/style/image is officially played out. All that standing in front of fans with the weave blowing in the wind doing the “single ladies” and the corny “Count Down” routine, is OVER. Its a new day and REAL music will return. Both need to stay home, be mothers and raise their babies. THE REVELUTION WILL BE TELEVISED
