Monica and Brandy stopped by Hot 97′s The Angie Martinez Show recently and talked about their children, Monica’s 10-carat rock and eventually landed on the top of Monica & Brandy’s not so sweet relationship back in their “Boy Is Mine” days.
Angie pressed Monica with questions, asking about whether their beef ever got physical. In an effort to not dig into the matter further, Mrs. Brown spilled out the truth, without blatantly saying it…Lol:
Monica: I’ve said, ‘I’m sorry.’ … No, no, stop, stop. No, I take this very serious. [turns to Brandy] Did I not apologize to you, though? As a woman, did I not apologize?
Brandy: Yes, you did.
Monica: I admit that from my heart. Like that’s not funny. I said I was sorry. I was 16!
Brandy: She is gangsta. You still a lil’ gangsta though. You just gangsta with control now.
After Monica put it out there that she apologized, Angie continued to ask what really happened and if Monica hit her…Meanwhile, Brandy is sitting there looking a tad bit uncomfortable. Oops! Peep the full clip below to see how that lil’ convo went.

Monica’s first album at 13 wasn’t called “Miss Thang” for no reason. I don’t think that Brandy should act like anything she’s not.
I agree that’s just not Brandy’s style. We should be thankful that not all black women carry themselves the same way. And I’ll say the same for Monica even though they mess with her for being “spunky” she’s always had a degree of class IMO but just two totally different people.
I agree with TRP and TC, you can’t always expect every single person in the industry to have an over the top personality. Brandy has a personality and speaks her mind it’s just not the same way Monica does. Brandy has more of a sense of humor and is more chilled and laid back. I personally don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
I also agree that is not Brandy’s style. I don’t see timid at all I see a grown women acting very mature. Love them both

I’ve honestly never felt like they are as close as they try to come off. IMO while I’m sure they are friendly, them coming together again for this new song seems like more of a business decision. They had a hit with The Boy Is Mine, and since they both need a current hit they tried to recreate the magic.
I’m not the biggest fan of the music either of them have been putting out in recent years, but I rather them apart than together because this act they put on when together isn’t a good look for either of them. Monica is always talking over Brandy and seems very overbearing, and Brandy always looks like she’s scared to say what she really thinks.
It sounded like fun and games until Monica told the truth. I was shocked when I heard it Friday. I thought she was joking, then it got real, quick.
I like Brandy and Monica…both their voices are unique. I just dont think they have much in common which is why they had to bring up this old story to make it seem like they really had a past…they dont have much to elaborate on with one another. Monica is just pressed, bitter, and jealous of Brandy. Brandy was the mature one, and she didn’t say anything about that incident. The interviewers didn’t even ask them about it, Monica opened the floodgates with it by saying “we couldn’t have done this in 1998″. Then she says “did I NOT apologize?” then refuses to elaborate further on the situation, leaving the door open for specualtion, but Monica’s so fake and transparent. She ain’t real at all. She has no media PR skills like Brandy does. She needs to grown up and get it together and practice what she preaches in the bible verses she likes to quote so much.

i heard the same. during rehearsal Monica did hit her first but i heard Brandy was giving it to her after that and the makeup artist (Derek Khan) a good friend of mine and the backup dancers had to break them apart. that’s why they were put on opposite sides of the stage, but the show had to go on! love them both though.
