SPOTTED: MARY J. BLIGE ENJOYS THE SUN IN MIAMI

March 19th, 2012

Mary J. Blige got her dose of vitamin D while enjoying the sunny beaches of Miami, FL over the weekend (March 17). The R&B singer aka Queen of Hip-Hop Soul was in town for the Jazz In The Garden music festival which also featured performances by other artists like Jill Scott, Ledisi, Ramsey Lewis and more.

Speaking of the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, MJB sat down with the Miami Herald and talked about how grateful she is for her strong 20-year career in the fluctuating industry of music:

“It means a lot, because it was the beginning of an era that changed music. It changed the way things sounded, the new-jack swing and contemporary R&B. Hip-hop soul is what music is now – every rapper is singing over it, every singer’s wanting to sing over it. If it’s not hip-hop soul, it’s four on the floor, which is the club songs. Even if it’s a ballad, it’s hip-hop and it’s soulful, and it means a lot, because it was the beginning of something that changed something.” [Source]

She also spoke about her role in the upcoming musical film, ‘Rock of Ages’ and how that experience has made her want to pursue more acting roles.

Mary will be one of the headling acts this year’s Essence Music Festival which goes down the July 6-8th in New Orleans, LA.

I like Mary J however, without makeup she looks old. Her body is on point though.

The Queen looks good. Everytime I see Mary I think of how far she has come. She is truly one of those artist that grew up right in front of us, from the 90′s til now.

Mary J Blige is the only artist from the 90′s still doing it. Mariah is worth mentioning but Mary has been consistent for years and is legendary at this stage in the game. Only the tough really survive.

Sun bathing is very beneficial for all people. The sun provides a great source of vitamin d, solar energy, and is good for your immune system. It has nothing to do with getting a tan. Darker skin people have more melanin than lighter people. Laying in the sun is wonderful as long as you don’t over do it. Too much direct sun exposure can lead to hyper pigmentation in darker skin people. It will lead to melanoma (skin cancer) in pale people.
