Monica and Brandy rolled through BET’s ’106 & Park’ on Monday afternoon (March 12). The “It All Belongs To Me” singers sat down together for the first time on the music video countdown show and talked about the reality of past beef, the loss of their friend Whitney and the possibility of a joint tour this summer. They also talked about how the filming process was like for them for their newest single:
Monica: Freezing.
Brandy: It was so much fun.
Monica: It was freezing.
Brandy: But it was fun.
Monica: You can’t leave that out though. It was freezing.
Brandy: Well honey, when you haven’t done a video in about 5 or 6 years, it was fun! And it was exciting and a blessing and I was, I couldn’t believe it. It was dope!…And it was cold.

I love these girls, very humble and funny!! I loved there jokes on 106 last night. I really love that song they put out, and I hope they come to Toronto for there tour, I will go to that hands down!!! Can’t wait for there albums to drop in April and June!!!

I hope these ladies continue to do well as they are both talented. Monica came across as being a very grounded and confident person, which I found refreshing. I was a little perplexed by the fact that Brandy, on the other hand, seemed to lack confidence. She kept alluding to having badgered Monica about reuniting and generally just seemed more desperate to please. Brandy has been relatively out of the music spotlight over the last few years, so maybe part of it is just nerves and needing to get back in the game. She also notably left out any mention of her much talked-about upcoming album, which makes me wonder if it’s indefinitely tabled; it sounds like there have been productions issues surrounding the project lately. Hopefully she manages to make the album happen.
I love both artists and they are talented and have beautiful personalities.
They slayed that song! However, I’m #TeamBrandy and I’m kind of confused why she is DOWNPLAYING herself like she hasn’t sold at least 2xs more records than Monica. “Begging” to do another record? Really? Where is her damn confidence?! Brandy is a movement by HERSELF but I’ll admit they are a FORCE when together! I can appreciate both vocalists and am looking forward to the tour!
I agree, Brandy was downplaying herself and it bothers me. Brandy is so beautiful, energetic and she has a beautiful voice!
I believe she was always kind of sensitive, but I think she lost a lot of confidence after that freeway accident where the woman died. It wasn’t Brandy’s fault, but people were hounding and harassing her, and calling her a killer. And I think that whole situation took away piece of her and caused her to die inside, a little.
But she is still strong and gifted and the best is still yet to come for her!! I am DEFINITELY #TeamBrandy
Maybe brandy was being humble. She probably thought it was better to present herself as modest rather than like Monica’s country ass talking about she blew up a car in real life. Brandy has not only sold 2 x’s more than her, but she’s carrying Monica right now. The best vocals, the more anticipated upcoming album, & if the video was just Monica ; vh1 or 1/2 of the promotion would not be on board. Monica is talented but fails because it’s hard to put her in a category. She wants to still be a rowdy chick, but has 2 kids, step kids, married, and claims every song hits her personally. Brandy is genuine because from day one, she’s portrayed talent instead of a gimmick.

You clearly just gave bait to Brandy haters by even posting this comment! If you’re a Brandy fan y would you on a public site post something you didn’t like about Brandy. How about posting the things you liked about the interview! That way when people look at the interview they’re looking out for something positive. Not how she “DOWNPLAYS” herself (IMO Its called humility)! Some things would go unnoticed if unsaid!
Monica just has that aura of a wise DIVA.
Brandy does lack confidence but Monica told Bran she has “one of the greatest voices of our generation” so she kept it 100%.
Brandy will bring out the fun in Monica & Mo will bring out the confidence in Brandy.
They have both learnt harsh lessons in different ways but look at them now. GROWN WOMEN with a great future and longevity

Talent must be embraced and i glad they managed to find a better connection than in TBIM era.
Lack of one on one communication kept them apart but life and growth brought them back together with a much stronger understanding of who eachother is.

Brandy sold 25 million records. Monica sold 20 million records. How’s that 2x’s more??? They BOTH are great women and artists. However, DIFFERENT! Please stop trying to compare the two, or put them at odds! Y’all dumb asses are missing the entire point of them coming together again! Which, now, I see why Monica didn’t want to in the beginning. They can do more together! Neither of their accolades outdo the other. They’re very similar. To be honest, Monica remained more relevant professionally. They are both beautiful and talented I wish them all the success in the world. I really wish the music industry would stop sleeping on Brandy though, she is an amazing vocalist that has a voice that completely her own, its a shame she hasnt had much success with anything past Full Moon.
Same for Monica. I never really agreed with her shift to kind of rowdy chick after the “All Eyez on Me” single flopped, but at least she saw the pulse of the moment and went for it. I loved the monica before that shift though, attitued but classy. She after the kids somewhat came back to a more classy image, which I think is a good look on her.
These women deserve success, yet we let the likes of Ciara and Ashanti take the spotlight and then fizzle while these two were putting out records and no one giving them a chance. Goes to show how fickle the entertainment industry can be.
