Columbia Records/Roc Nation’s newest artist Rita Ora is on the cover of the UK’s ‘Notion’ magazine. Inside the “London Love” issue, the tatted “How We Do (Party)” singer talks her journey into the music business, her time studying theatre and what it was like to work with fellow UK artists Craig David and Tinchy Stryder.
In a recent interview with Complex, the recording artist spoke out about the Rihanna comparisons that have been flying around:
I don’t know, know Rihanna. I’ve met her a few times through industry events. It’s always been perfectly cool. I don’t know what people are trying to do but I think it’s a compliment. I can’t change my face. I’ve been blonde for literally seven years. I’ve had this look for a long time. When my music comes out, I think this will all go away. When you recognize something and you start acknowledging the important shit, I feel like it’s just going to go away. But right now, it’s a compliment. I really like that comparison because she’s hot and she’s doing her thing. I’d rather be compared to her than someone rubbish.” [SOURCE]

i like this chick-i feel like there isn’t anything not to like about her (except if you jus dont like her music). dont see the resemblence to rihanna but i think Ms. Rita will be hot for a good mintue tho.

Tell ‘em Rita! She’s being nice because that non singer is actually copying her look. Rita’s style is street/slightly grunge and she’s hot right now with #1′s and that other bird is doing everything she can to stay relevant bc she feels the real coming.
The question is, what are you trying to do? There is a difference between a comparison, and a copy cat of someone’s style, image, and persona. That’s all I’m going to say.
My issue lies in the fact that just because Rihanna has a particular look, why is it not acceptable for anyone else to? it’s like if someone comes out looking or remotely sounding like someone else they are labeled a clone when all of the above have been in succession before Rihanna or anyone else, celeb or not. I don’t get it but whatever, wish her all the best, whether it’s truly her or if she was told it was how she should be in order to sell and be famous. I’ll just be thankful when this pop-electro BS becomes played and then the record companies and agents begin to force their artists to be someone else.
I swear talent is obsolete in this generation.
