Nicki Minaj sat down with ABC’s ‘Nightline’ and talked about how she sees herself as an artist, pointed out her real reason for becoming a rapper and how she didn’t come in to the game to be a role model for young girls. The animated artists also talked about her childhood, her multiple personalities and shared her real thoughts on the Lady Gaga comparisons:

I don’t want to offend Moms or children like when they come and pay their money to see a show. But I didn’t come in the game to be an artist that appealed to kids either. So (I’m a grown up) and I’m a crazy lunatic.ON BEING COMPARED TO LADY GAGA:

First…I’m a Nicki fan. But I’m NOT a fan of changing your fucking skin color (via makeup or chemicals) to appeal to white people. Hey, I prefer not to answer your question due to the fact that that discussion is like beating a dead horse. However I think I do have a theory on why her skin may be lighter. I too was born in the south and as a kid playing in sun my skin tone was darker when i was about 8 I moved Up North to Ohio and over the years my complexion lightened up considerably because of the long dark winters and less sunlight. So Nicki being born in Trinidad then moving to NY could be this Real reason for this lightening of skin.
Yes it is true. I myself was born and raised in Trinidad. I was considerably darker while living down there. My siblings as well. But when we moved to the US and to date, our complexion has lightened considerably. Can’t say either way if it is or not due to chemicals, but the environment in which you live does play a significant part.

I understand that she needed to go mainstream, because hardcore female rappers never make it in today’s music industry, but she’s gone too far. I can’t believe she believes the lies that come out of her mouth. I remember she was doing, I think it was Complex Magazine, 2 years ago and was wearing glasses that she said “Rihanna and Gaga” wore. So b–ch stop lying. You know damn well you’re wearing crazy wigs and outfits to try to get attention and success because it works for Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna.
