Opening in London’s West End in November and based on the 1992 film of the same name starring the late Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, The Bodyguard features a host of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, including “How Will I Know”, “Saving All My Love for You” and more. Ok… I hate musicals but I love The Bodyguard. Good for you Heather.
Sounds exciting! Congrats to Heather and the cast.
Wow, they should bring that to the US. Heather Headley though?
TRP – GET WITH THE PROGRAM SHE’S ONLY A SMALL HANDFUL OF SINGERS TODAY THAT CAN GIVE JUSTICE TO THE BODYGUARD SONGS.
I’m sorry when I think of The Bodyguard, I don’t think Heather Headley in no way shape or form.
Wow. There’s a blast from the past…haven’t heard much about Heather in years. They could have found a better looking yt guy to play the body guard, I’m just sayin.
Yeah, Im not really a fan of musicals but this sure would be an exception. I love Heather Headley. Im sure the musicals will be coming to US right after and i would want to go and see it. I think it quite fitting as a tribute to Whitney, and Costner for having done a trimendous job on the movie.
yt guy? :\
I thought he was a wax figure! lol
Great choice, Heather Headley has a powerful great voice
I would like to know who will garner the production credits (and thusly, the proceeds) on this “play”. I suspect that it would be Kevin Costner, and if so, I have to congratulate him on how astute he was in attending Whitney Houston’s “funeral” and making himself a sympathetic figure by aligning himself with her through the film that they made. He already knew that he will without a doubt develop either: 1) a sequel 2) a play or franchise reboot i.e. re-released DVD that will net him hundreds of millions. His career is dead, and through her, he can rejuvenate it. Whitney Houston is the gift that just keeps on giving lol. That top photo is so telling on so many different levels lol……
you better preachhhhh !!!!
They been planning this since last year, and Whitney doesn’t own any rights to The Bodyguard music. So? Just trying to find people to attack? If everyone called us out on everything we did and tried to make it seem malicious, it would be just as easy. So?

Kevin Costner stood up for Whitney when others did nothing but bash,bash,bash… He didn’t WAIT til she died to talk about how “great she was” yada,yada. And for that, he get’s much respect..all that other stuff Judah’s talking about, is just him spinning himself into butter.
lol totally absurd . Kostner has nothing to do with it and owns none of the rights to anything that has to do with the movie or the musical.
His career is not even dead when youve made as much money as that guy has you can do whatever you like start your own band and make music which he has been doing for years .
Conspiracy nutjobs just crack me up .
@INDIGO
He “stood up for Whitney” lmao? How did he do that? Negro please. You have no idea how their industry works. Everything is for image. If we want to speak on that level, to the untrained eye, Clive Davis “stood up” for Whitney also, but he is nothing but a p!mp. That’s your own mental projection under your “white knight” programming. Not saying you particularly, but the media plays up the Bobby Brown vs. Kevin Costner dichotomy to reinforce the wicked black man vs. white knight syndrome in the minds of you black women. That is why I stated that the top picture was symbolic. Notice the difference between the Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner photo as opposed to the pictures taken for the “play”. The Whitney/Kevin picture actually conveys a “bodyguard” theme. The photos for the play clearly evoke the black woman being worshipful of her “bodyguard” i.e. WHITE KNIGHT. That shows how much the black female has been broken down in 20 years. It is what it is.
@ JUDAH If Kevin Costner was a BLACK man, I would say the SAME thing! (I was about to say something else,but I’ll just play into your blind beliefs) I didn’t bring up color for a reason.. Everything is not a race issue, only simple minded people see everything as a race issue,because it’s a simple debate..No one has to deal with their own demons and how they play into things. I’m far from having A “great white hope” mentality! In fact, I despise how it’s depicted in Hollywood films and how most play into it without knowing,even while shouting PRO black this,symbols and signs that! Let me rephrase my original comment;he stood by Whitney,while others bash,bash,bashed. And if the person in my corner gives me “hope” and they just so happen to be white, then yes, I’ll have that great white hope mentality. shrug
IMO, Kevin Costener comes off genuine.
@ Judah, not once have I come on here talking about Black men racing to save white women.. I can careless. I leave that to the simple minded.
@KEN
Costner owns “none of the rights to the movie or musical”? Really? You know what’s funny? In my initial comment, I POSTULATED that Costner had a hand in this play and what the hypothetical ramifications would be if he did. I never stated that he definitely did (because it’s not that serious) but your asinine, crab-in-a-barrel response made me look it up. Kevin Costner DOES HAVE PRODUCTION CREDITS for the Bodyguard movie lmao. As a matter of fact, he has LEAD PRODUCTION CREDITS. You cannot just create a play with the same title, characters, and plot, and have none of the proceeds go to the lead producer of the film that the play is adapted from lol. The entire play production would get sued you idiot. Your comment is reflective of how and why hundreds of talented black entertainers end up broke. They take the caucasians (particularly the caucasian jews) at their word and outward image as opposed to understanding BUSINESS. Then when thoughts are too deep for you, you call it a “conspiracy”. It’s not that I’m a “conspiracy theorist”; it’s that you’re a two-dimensional thinker. Let me make some more “conspiratorial” comments to ruffle your p@nties. That play will carry over to America and eventually, the movie will be re-made (starring Jennifer Hudson), or a sequel will be done (starring Costner with flashbacks of Whitney Houston).
@JUDAH yes Kevin C has production credits but Lawrence Kasdan the singular writer of the screenplay and also with production credits will obviously get principle royalties. This musical has been in pre production since last year. However there is going to be a remake, Warner Bros started so last year.
@SEYI
I don’t know if Kasdan will get principle royalties. He is the sole screen-writer, but Costner is the one that has the power to get scripts green-lit. The overall point is that “Ken” is a crab, a simple-minded negro, and an idiot (not particularly in that order) lol. The re-make of the movie was in production since last year because they already knew that Whitney Houston would be assassinated by the time the new film came out (her death obviously providing extreme buzz for the re-make). Again, THAT is why Costner was at that black sabbath sacrificial mass that people called a “funeral” for Whitney Houston. He was using the energy from her death to convert over to his “Bodyguard” projects”.
Should be interesting.
She always had interesting phrasing and she just butchered Whitney’s song. Sorry cuz Heather can actually blow.. but its like she couldn’t keep up with the beat and had no personality behind her voice. It will take a very special singer to sing Whitney. Jennifer Hudson was a fail and so is this. Whitney was the 8th wonder of the world… if you can’t do it as good or better leave it alone honey.
Heather does have the vocal chops…
She needs more iron in her diet, thats why her eyes are so dingy looking. Same for Taraji- needing an extra iron vitamin to clear up the white of her eyes bc its hard to get those vegetables in.
Lol, and how the hell does this relate to the topic?!
Am i the only one that thinks this production is just a little too soon?
I think its funny how black people mention celebrities that have MADE 10′s of millions of dollars and have the audacity to assume that their career is dead just cause YOU don’t see them at the forefront. Retirement, being wealthy and free, and being jobless in entertainment are completely different things.
How about this? You can say that Kevin Costner’s career is dead after you make the money he’s made. umkay?
@ GUAP
Lol, dude if you’re going to address me, at least be astute enough to hit reply under my initial comment. Your dumb a$$ looks like you’re talking to yourself. Where did I mention anything about Kevin Costner being broke? If Kevin Costner’s career was what it was 20+ years ago, he wouldn’t have time to do a re-make of “The Bodyguard”. For example, Harrison Ford took 20+ years to do a 4th installment of the Indiana Jones movie because he was getting other scripts. When his career started to dry up, suddenly he wanted to do the movie. That’s how the entertainment industry works in regards to acting. You can un-bunch your p@nties because I don’t give a damn how much money the next person has “GUAP” lol.
white people don’t do that because they understand what money brings.
Hmm, not sure about Heather playing Whitney’s character though…
This has to come to the US!!! When the talks of a ‘Bodyguard’ remake discussed Rihanna or Beyonce I knew that would NOT work. I think Heather will bring balance to the role, with the acting & her singing chops.
TOO EXCITED!!!
