The 2012 Billboard Music Awards went down this past Sunday night, and as typical of most awards shows, the celebs were out in full fashion effect.
Brandy. The singer/actress looked amazing wearing a new curly hairstyle, dramatic eye makeup, and a leg baring mini dress. Brandy’s fringed Herve Leger dress is available from Forward for $2600, and her bow topped Christian Louboutin heels are $2,395 at Net-a-porter.
Brandy accessorized with crystal bangle bracelets from Nana Fabella, a snake knuckle ring from Elodie K., and a white sapphire ring from Beverly Jill Designs.
Jordin Sparks. Before hitting the Billboard Awards stage to perform a rousing rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You, singer/actress Jordin Sparks walked the red carpet in a blush colored lace dress from Diane von Furstenberg. Jordin’s lace sheath dress is available at Nordstrom for $325.
Amber Rose. The former Ford model wore a white strapless mini dress, and added a pair of soft gold heels to finish off her look. Beauty-wise, she rocked a bold red lip, and eye catching yellow nail polish.
Monica. Singer Monica was in my opinion one of the best looks of the night. She wore a white long-sleeved, floor length gown, that featured a thigh high split, and another revealing split that went from neckline to waistline. If that wasn’t visually interesting enough, Monica complete her look with leopard print Christian Louboutin platform pumps.
Swizz Beatz. The ladies of Hollywood weren’t the only ones to get in on the all-white wardrobe acton. Swizz Beatz also joined in on the red-carpet mini trend. He rocked a cream suit, crisp white button up shirt, tan shoes, and finished everything with a black hat and Dior sunglasses.
Taio Cruz. On the opposite end of the all-white trend spectrum, other celebs were sporting all black everything. British singer/songwriter Taio Cruz was blacked out all the way from his black sunglasses, down to his black sneakers. He accessorized his black denim jacket, black tee, and black jeans look, with a fringed black scarf.
Alicia Keys. Alicia Keys’ look was relatively simple, but was one of her best red carpet outfits to date. She wore a black long-sleeved gown from Azzedine Alaia Couture that allowed her to go all out on the accessories and hair. She rocked a Repossi rose gold and diamond multi-hoop ear cuff in one ear, and a Jennifer Fisher handpiece on her fingers.
Gladys Knight. Classic R&B Diva Gladys Knight showed the young ladies how it’s done, wearing a black mini dress that featured a bronze sequined belt. She added a pair of bronze dangle earrings, and matching bronze peep-toe beaded heels to finish her look.
Jurnee Smollett. Amidst all the blacks, whites, greys, and neutrals, there were a few celebs who were brave enough to try color on the Billboard Awards red carpet. Actress Jurnee Smollett wore a deep teal colored mini dress that had an intricate rouched detailing, that she paired with a gold clutch, large statement necklace, and black peep-toe booties.
Usher. Wearing one of the decidedly bolder looks of the night, Usher took to the red carpet in an aqua colored suit. He toned down the bold hue of his outfit by paring the look with a grey button up shirt, grey shoes, and a white belt.
Jordin Sparks. Jordin’s second look of the night was a chic and sophisticated black and blue strapless gown that featured a leather bodice, and silk chiffon skirt. It’s a more dramatic look that her first red carpet ensemble, and definitely more eye catching.
Jason Derulo. While some were doing either all-black, or all-white, others went for the always classic mixed black and white color combination. Whatcha Say singer Jason Derulo (who also happens to be the boyfriend of Jordin Sparks) rocked a tieless black tux, but kept things interesting with a patterned jacket.
Wiz Khalifa. Rapper Wiz Khalifa kept to his usual casual and laid back style, wearing a white tee with black vest, black jeans, and a grey hat. He added a pop of color with a pair of red sneakers.
Jeremih. Singer Jeremih opted for a stylish look of almost all-black. He rocked a black button up shirt paired with black pants, and black sneakers. He topped off his outfit with a cream blazer that featured black lapels.
John Legend. Continuing with the mostly neutral colored theme of the night several of the fellas walked the red carpet in grey featured ensembles. John Legend wore a grey blazer over black shirt, and black pants. He finished off his look with Lanvin grey and white sneakers, and black framed glasses. Get John’s shoes from Mr. Porter for $975.
Miguel. Singer MIguel is always one to bring an interesting look to the red carpet. He didn’t disappoint at the Billboard Awards, although this look was a subdued one for him. He rocked a grey blazer over a black and white patterned shirt, paired with black pants, and matching black shoes.
Robin Thicke. Singer and star of the new reality show Duets, Robin Thicke had a little fun with his red carpet look, wearing a checkered black and white blazer. He wore it over a white henley shirt, grey jeans, and finished everything with black boots.
LMFAO. As with NIcki Minaj’s Grammy red carpet look, there are just some ensembles that can’t be explained. Dance music duo SkyBlu and Redfoo (the grandson, pictured left, and son, pictured right, of Berry Gordy) of LMFAO hit the Billboard Awards carpet wearing…this. But it’s not really surprising seeing that they always dress like that…
