MOVIE TRAILER: ‘UNCONDITIONAL’ (STARRING MICHAEL EALY)

June 24th, 2012

Think Like A Man‘s Michael Ealy will be starring in a new Christian film entitled Unconditional. Based on real life events, Ealy plays “Papa Joe” Bradford, a childhood friend of a woman named Samantha (Lynn Collins), who lost her husband in a murder. As she struggles to come to terms with her husband’s death, Ealy’s character teaches her a lesson of forgiveness and more as he dedicates his life to helping and mentoring underprivileged children in his broken community.

In an effort to bring awareness to the issue of homeless and parentless children, Unconditional aims to spread the word via partnerships with Christian ministries catered to at-risk children and youth in communities all across the United States (LEARN MORE).

Check out the story summary and official trailer after the jump. With Cedric Pendleton, Kwesi Boakye and Gabriella Phillips included in the cast, Unconditional hits movie theaters on September 21, 2012.

FULL SYNOPSIS:
Samantha Crawford’s life is a storybook life: she’s happily married, she lives on a ranch where she keeps her beloved horse, and the stories she’s told and illustrated since childhood have become published books. When her husband Billy is killed in a senseless act of violence, Sam loses her faith and her will to live. But a death-defying encounter with two children leads to a reunion with Joe, her oldest friend. Inspired by true events, UNCONDITIONAL stars Michael Ealy (Think Like A Man, Barbershop) and Lynn Collins (John Carter). As Sam watches her friend Joe care for and love the kids in his under-resourced neighborhood, she begins to realize that no matter life’s circumstances, the love of God is always reaching out to us. I’m really sick of this white woman black man agenda the media keeps trying to force down our throats. Can I ever have a positive movie with a black leading man & woman with a good story line & good acting without any of the stereotypical “black” movie b.s.?

There’s a concerted effort to get black people put themselves out of existence in America by breeding with white people…

The powers that be have said we will give you what you seem to want and that’s white women

Whoa, everyone. As someone who worked on the film, I will tell you there is absolutely NO romantic dimension whatsoever between the two main characters. It is a friendship story, and based on true events.

You should NEVER have to explain that to anyone! In fact I think they would have made a FANTASTIC couple!

I am dumbfounded as to where your comment is coming from. God sees neither black or white or yellow, just the heart. Why must so many choose to continually divide what God chooses to unite?

Didn’t any of you simple-a$$ black women read the treatment for the film lol? Why are you complaining about the film starring a white woman? IT IS BASED ON TRUE EVENTS. As usual, NO READING COMPREHENSION smdh. Anyway, I thought in the “Christian” church, they teach that love “has no color”. I mean damn, most black females outside of the Christian church are usually BIG ADVOCATES for interracial dating, bi$exuality, and homo$exuality AS LONG AS IT BENEFITS THEM. When the black male “dates inter-racially”, all of a sudden the black female becomes the world’s greatest psycho-analyst…..”These black men ‘hate’ themselves.”……”Willie Lynch was RIGHT!”…..and the all-time best, “These black men must hate they momma.” lol. I guess love suddenly has a color when the black man gets a non-black woman and the black woman is left in the church pew by herself with a big-a$$ fruit basket hat, a fan, and a bible that she’s never opened a day in her life lol.

First of all, Jesus was not a white man. He was a Jew. Secondly in the Muslim faith are you suppose to be cursing. Thirdly, your right about the Christian faith is not suppose to see color. You guys are judging without even seeing the movie or reading the facts. It does not matter the color of the person, if that is who God deems for you to be with then it should not matter. Love sees no color. The black woman is just as beautiful as the white woman or any other race of woman. Instead of complaining and showing your insecurities, embrace who you are and don’t worry about what black man is with what white woman. It doesn’t matter. Besides, the movie was based on true events. Quit judging!!!

Everybody is doing all this talking and has no idea what they are talking about. Even if what is being said is true, get over it. It’s a free country and people can do as they please. Have an open heart and mind and know that this movie is all about exactly what it says and not about what you just assumed it was by the color of the cast. That’s what’s wrong with the world, people like you. You are totally wrong! Watch the movie and then come back an post an apology comment.

This is why Tia and Tamera reality show is so refreshing because they are not the norm for black women. And I bet white women and non black women are looking at that show and thinking those ladies are normal because they act that way all the time. On the flip side, black women love Nene, Tami Roman, Evelyn, are their role models and aspire to be those clowns. Public housing, hodgepodge culture mess.

O Wowwww, as a black woman I find your comment very disrespectful. Everyone is intitled to their opinions, but their are MANY of us who don’t indulge in the likes of so called reality charachters like the BBW’s. There are every type,in every class of race, however it’s always balck women who get the bad wrap, and it is ignorant to clump us into a whole. Tia and Tamara are like Many black women I know. You must not ever watch Big rich Tx, Mob wives, or Jersey shore… Yeah great examples of woman, huh??.. and they are not black. This film posting has nothing to do with the ignorance your comment brings to it.

Maybe if all the BLACK woman weren’t flipping about this movie staring a WHITE woman 1/2 these comments wouldn’t be made….. It seems the “BLACK” woman on here did this to themselves today…. It’s YOU guys whom are the racist ones… Are there any White people on here bitching about seeing a White woman with a Black guy?? NOPE… Know why???? B/c most of us have gotten OVER things like that… Learn from the rest of us!

Just want to clarify for some of you folks… it’s not actually a love story between Ealy’s and Collins’ characters… this is based on true life events and those 2 characters do not fall in love.

If this is based on true life events, does anyone know what happened at the end?

    ****Possible SPOILER ALERT*****

I’m guessing here. He’s needing a transplant and she’s out for justice for the death of her husband. Could it be she dies and he inherits her organ and continues his work with underprivileged children?

For those of you arguing or upset about race. The point is they were childhood friends first and foremost, who HAPPENED to be of different ethnicity. The point is he, who happens to be black, is a mentor in his underprivileged community. She, who happens to be white, lost her husband. The characters could have been both white, or both black, or both Asians. One is struggling and the other, I’m guessing is middle (or even upper class). They could have also both been the same gender. Both boys or both girls. What brings them together is their friendship.

Wow…Did not expect to read such comments. I’m just happy there’s a decent movie out, one that I can take my grand kids to see. We have a black/white marriage in our family that include 2 beautiful children. None of us have a problem with it. I don’t understand.

I understand how some feel, all this about God sees no color that is true but society and many elements of the church does! Let’s tell the truth. The church still has color hangups. What gets me is all this about I loose my faith because my nice life was interferred with. I’m so tired of this type of weak christian story telling. There are people who are going through serious hell, and still remain faithful and full of love. If God has blessed you with a nice comfortable life, how weak is it to loose your faith when something bad happens. What about the people who maintain their faith in the midst of serious attacks. I heard a young christian child speak of how she forgave the man who killed her father in the projects where they lived. Now this is faith. But most christian films seek to appeal to the mid-western, bible belt demographic, and these sad weak stories reflect it.

This movie is based on true events- right?! What blessing it is to have childhood friends of a different race, remain friends, despite being corrupted by worldly views of human worth. We should all have the innocence of children and connect with one another based on how we’ve been blessed on the inside.

By the way, it has been said time and again that children are closest to God. Maybe we should start there before and after seeing this movie… It seems these “characters” have…

I am shocked at all these comments. Its a movie based on true events and the black man and white woman aren’t even “romantically” involved! My daughter heard about this movie from a friend and we decided to check it out and see what other people were saying about it. INSTEAD I had to explain to my 10 year old daughter (who is bi-racial) why people would be mad about a black woman and white woman being friends. For all of the ignorant people out there who felt compelled to make these comments… here is a lesson from a ten year old!!! HER WORDS… My mommy and daddy love each other and our family is beautiful and if GOD chose to make our family why do they have such problem with it.
