On Tues., June 12, Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of George Zimmerman was arrested and charged with one count of perjury before being released on a $1,000 bond.
Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. His bond was revoked earlier this month following claims from the prosecution that he and his wife misled the court when asked about available funds when his bond was set in April.
Assistant State Attorney John Guy charged Shellie Zimmerman with knowingly making false statements at the April hearing on Tuesday. George Zimmerman was not charged with perjury as he was never asked about money while under oath. Also on Tuesday, the court released Seminole County Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester’s order revoking Zimmerman’s bond. Another bail hearing for Zimmerman is scheduled for June 29.
