President Barack Obama remarked on the Department of Homeland Security’s announcement to stop deporting illegal immigrants who came to this country as children and have no criminal history on Fri., June 15. Speaking from the Rose Garden, the President said:
Over the next few months, eligible individuals who do not present a risk to national security or public safety will be able to request temporary relief from deportation proceedings and apply for work authorization.
Now, let’s be clear — this is not amnesty, this is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship. It’s not a permanent fix. This is a temporary stopgap measure that lets us focus our resources wisely while giving a degree of relief and hope to talented, driven, patriotic young people.
While President Obama was speaking, reporter Neil Munro from the The Daily Caller interrupted him (starting at the 4:35 mark in the video below), asking questions such as “What about American workers who are unemployed while you employ foreigners?” The President replied that now was not the time for questions, before directly adding to Munro, “And the next time I prefer you let me finish my statements before you ask that question, is that this is the right to do for the American people.” View the President’s full remarks in the video below.
President Barack Obama Speaks on Immigration

Obama is so handsome
^^PEOBLEM #1 With Americans. This ain’t no damn beauty contest! People like lives are at stake. Damn do you even read or just look at the pix like a toddler…
@ LOTUS I did read the article and it is no different from what I’ve been hearing lately, Obama is the best president the USA has ever had since Abraham Lincoln.
I wonder how this will turn out…
Ugh. Where was his support for the Immigration Reform four years ago? He is the most unrealistic President this country has ever had.
are you a fucking idiot? i’m just curious. who would you ather be in the white house? do you even know how the political game works? the sheer fact that he is recieving this level of public and blatant disrespect from a reporter (to interrupt him during a speech) is a ostensible sign that his job (especially as a black man) is extremely difficult. it is shameful the way people treat this man. and sure, the black community stands behind him for the most part, but why is that such an issue to you?
Is Obama tring to lose? First gay rights now this. This will not help him with independant voters who can’t find work or who are UNDERemployed. The national unemployment rate is almost 10% and in urban areas like my hometown of Milwaukee it’s 34% for black men down from 53% just 2yrs ago. Now Obama want to give out work visas to make it even harder on Americans. Just 3yrs ago there was a technical job at my company paying $30/hr with full benefits. My company phased the job out, renamed the job even though it’s the same job but the starting pay is $9-$13 with no benefits. I live in a high Latino area where they can pay so little but still make a billion a year in revenue. I’m sorry but this may be Obama’s nail in his….
I totally see where you’re coming from and I agree. But you know, the majority of black folks will support it anyway because it’s KING OBAMA and he is NEVER wrong.
this had more to do with the structure of Corporate America and less to do with Foreign Policy. If the system was in check, there would be less of an opportunity for companies to employ those kind of tactics, but then again, if the companies do not find cheaper more resourceful means to produce, then the products they make would increase in price and therefore the cost of living would rise. so there….
I think some people fail to understand the current conditions that exists in the US. We have a lot of illegal and undocumented workers employed and what makes them so valuable to the work force is that companies hire them at low wages and no benefits, and threaten them with deportation if they complain. The reason unemployment is high is based on the fact the many companies are more interested in turning a profit, which means, they seek out people who they can train and pay low wages to (illegal workers) vs. employing an American citizen who they would have to pay a fair wage including benefits. The children of illegal immigrants already feed off the government (i.e. welfare, mediaide, financial aide, etc.), so giving them a legalized status means that they can continue to enjoy they privileges they already have enjoyed while not citizens or residents; however, now, we can tax them, which will add necessary contributions to our fledging budget. I definitely applaud President Obama on this issue, because it is important to remember: Who cuts the lawns? Who picks the produce that you see in the supermarkets? Who cleans buildings and bathrooms? Who makes the meals at restaurants? Who busses tables? who cleans houses? (these are jobs that many Americans feel are beneath them, yet these jobs are essential)
I like having a two party system, but this defiant attitude to see that the President fails is not taking this country up, it’s going down
No , Obama lost his black vote when he agreed to same sex marriage. Give black people the benefit of a doubt, they are not stupid and know what’s right and whats wrong. This shit is just icing on the cake. He Is probably aiming for Hispanic people vote there is more of them then us now.
Yea Obama has definitley lost my vote. He could make a way for people in other countries to work but make it hard for the ones here now to find work. I no longer care about having a black President and I no longer care who runs this country. We’re nearing our last days so save up y’all money and protect your children. This is going to be one hell of a decade.
This is why people should stop voting in general (it’s not like your vote counts anyways) and stop relying on these humans to solve your problems. It’s nothing but dissapointment everytime. There has never been a President that has done what he said he was going to do. People never learn.
Porsche let’em know, Black folk are not falling for that crap again that we are voting for him cause he is King Obama the only King that many of us “Black Folks” have is the one who really runs this,, (Your opinion is your business). Bottom line there is a real war going on in that there WHITE HOUSE. This is so far beyond the American people, notice I didn’t say Black, Hispanic or any other race. People getting their draws in a bunch cause they are making it about them. Keep in mind if the other guy takes office policies are doing to change, clearly it will have nothing to do with you, jobs will be created and people will go back to work,, even the one who have helped the unemployment rate stay high just because they are trying to prove a point..
I’m Canadian and I’m frankly disappointed that I know more about this they you all do. This bill is designed for young people who are in the United States illegally to be deferred from deportation, provided they arrived at a young age, have no criminal record, are not a security threat and are pursuing higher education… or are willing to serve in the military.
It is not designed to make all the randoms around you legal and able to work. This is redirecting resources that are being used to round up young persons when there are criminal illegals and others who are avoiding the process who need to be deported. And helping those who didn’t have a choice in the matter live more honest lives and add to the US economy.
I am convinced that too many Black Americans barely comprehend what is being brought into law…because then there wouldn’t be so many misguided posts on here. Did you even watch the video before posting? Read a full article? Or do you just hear something and then make assumptions?
Immigration could not and should not have been a priority in the last three years anyway…you had a crumbling economy to deal with. Congress would have rejected reform anyway.
And, oh…If the same sex issue is the deciding factor on why you vote for a candidate, stay your dumb ass at home. Honestly.
This!
The important things is for people to vote, and mobilize to make your communities better, and be more collective in your thinking. The government can only do so much. Everyone should count in this country, because they are feeding this economy.
I wish I could vote for him again, but like someone stated earlier,he is making it better for foreigners and not Americans. No more hand outs of any kind!!
Wow.. I wouldn’t have ever thought I’d feel this way a few months ago. lol
so you are voting for Romney?
