Following the season premiere of VH1′s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, K. Michelle chatted it up with TT Torrez about being on the show and the reality of everyone’s story. In the radio interview, the R&B singer talked about her love for Lil Scrappy’s mother, Momma Dee, her past abusive relationship with music executive Mickey “Memphitz” Wright (who is now married to Toya, Lil Wayne’s ex-wife) and her dislike for Tamar Braxton:
ON OPENING UP ABOUT ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP:
I wasn’t scared about that. Because you’re only scared when you’re lying. You’d be scared when there aren’t any facts. His family still talks to me and knows the truth. For me, I even tried to do it right and not be shady out of respect towards Toya and their situation. I didn’t even say his name. I told my story without saying his name because I did not want it to be like, ‘Oh, K is throwing shade. Oh, K is bitter.’ No. He probably is a different man now. Different women bring out different things in men.ON BEING MAD AT TAMAR BRAXTON:
I’m not mad at him or her for her belief. The one person I am mad at is Tamar Braxton, that muppet. She needs to have several seats. [...] Because she deleted the tweets, because people were tweeting me what she said. She was saying to Toya, ‘Oh have fun. Let this girl stay in her fairytales. And stay in her fairytales’ All I tweeted was ‘I like Toni anyway.’ I don’t play in those little games. The muppet needs to get it together. She needs to stay away from me.

I have to speak on something that K. Michelle said that almost went unnoticed., “You’re only scared when you’re lying”. I beg to differ. She spoke of an isolated incident on the show which I removed from my DVR list after my first viewing. I connected with her because I have been in two horribly consecutive abusive relationships. My heart reached out to her because I know how that feels to be on the receiving end of violence and how it feels to say “Hey, snap out of it, it’s me”, but at same time the ignorance was far to rampant for me to tune-in ever again. Having lived in Atlanta, I personally know at least a dozen women that are actually Hip Hop wives who are intelligent, poised and have lives of their own, Rasheeda being one of them, so I do hope that her story line is not sensationalized and that she is shown in the beautiful light that I have seen her in. But back to my point “You’re only scared when you’re lying”. You have to be really careful about what you say, especially when you have a captive audience, largely made up of women who have likely been in an abusive relationship, coming out of one or will be in one. FEAR IS WHAT KEEPS YOU THERE! FEAR IS WHAT GETS YOU THERE. Fear that you are not good enough , fear of loneliness and the fear of being exposed. You are not scared when you are lying, that is absolutely absurd. While I respect her for speaking out, I would like to urge her to choose her words carefully. Women are LITERALLY SCARED TO DEATH while bursting at their seams with truth. The next thing is that she attacked Tamar and said she’s from Memphis and that they hop fences. Really? In one breath you are the victim and the next you are the threatening someone who was standing up for her friend, who I imagine to be Toya and clearly she felt that her experience with Memphitz was all together different. Then she says that “He’s probably a different man now because different women bring out different things in men” and that is the saddest statement in the entire interview, because at her core, she blames her self for what he did to her. That made my stomach swallow my heart because having low self-esteem drowns you in self worthlessness and her acknowledgement of that worries me because she could find her self in similar situation. I was married to a serial cheater and abuser and when he and I were over, I didn’t take the time that I needed, required and deserved to heal myself, so I attracted the same guy, younger, cuter, but a serial cheater and abuser. K. Michelle, get some help and learn to really love your self. And if you are a woman in an abusive relationship know that you can speak up, even if you are afraid. Fear is often not synonymous with lies as it it with truth. The truth often hurts worse.

1. Memphitz beating K. Michelle and K. Michelle letting Tamar know not to mess with her have no correlation.
2. K. Michelle probably feels that Memphitz hasn’t changed but the smart thing to do is to say that possibly Toya has brought something good out of him or different out of simple respect.
3. I believe the “When you’re lying you are scared” is in reference that she feels nothing wrong with telling the story because it is the truth

1. Violence is never the answer. In my eyes, K.Michelle was threatening Tamar and if you didn’t recognize it before, VIOLENCE is the blatant and direct correlation between both statements that Ms. Michelle made.
2. She said that Memphitz could be a different person because different women bring out different things in men. If she does not feel that he has not changed, she should not have said it. I don’t support that statement and I stand behind mine..she needs help.
3. Not that it makes any difference, but I believe her, I did not think that she was lying, but my point is that there are millions of women that are afraid to tell the truth and her statement discourages that in my opinion. If I were shaking in my boots and afraid to tell someone, as I had been in the past then the added pressure would be for someone not to believe me because I was afraid.
4. Yes, my post was long because I had lots to say. I rarely post comments and this hit a nerve and the word count may have been a nuisance to you, but I do hope that those that needed to get the message heard it loud and clear.
I believe domestic violence is a very serious situation and women need support to get out of the situation and support afterwords to heal. All you have done throughout your initial post is put a woman down and judge her. You do not know her situation and therefore what worked for you may not work for her. You should just be happy she has survived this hell and has went on with her life. Women don’t speak up because of fear of being judged and for you to have gone through a similar situation and put this woman down is wrong and absurd. You are the one that “needs to get some help and learn to really learn yourself” apparently the words your abuser spoke to you have caused you to treat others the same way. Take Care

I spoke about the effects of abuse and my own personal opinion of how the interview made me feel as a former victim of abuse It’s quite obvious that you are personally invested in her story and we are not going to see eye to eye. I responded to your reply and not once was I rude to you..or even to K.Michlle for that matter. I spoke about how it made me feel and I’m sorry if my doing that makes you feel that I am an abuser, and quite honestly that’s what’s absurd.
