While promoting Madagascar 3 on Thurs., June 8, comedian/actor Chris Rock compared his character to President Barack Obama, saying we ignore the President’s whiteness:
I wanted to be the lion, you know, king of the jungle and all that, but that didn’t work out. Snake is always good. You know, scare people. Ssss. But I’ll take the zebra. In honor of our zebra president. Black and white, white and black. … I love our president, but he’s black and white. He appeals to all. And that’s what I am going for.
The funnyman joined the hosts for the 8:30 opening as Matt Lauer mentioned, “We’re hoping the same kind of weather hits us tomorrow when we’ve got Chris Brown out on the plaza.” Rock couldn’t pass up the opportunity: “Did you say you hope the same weather hits you?” he said, referring to Brown’s 2009 domestic abuse arrest and charge. Rock added, “We hope this weather doesn’t smack us upside the head tomorrow.”
