Earlier this week, singer / actress Teairra Mari released a intimate video interview where she details her humble beginnings in Detroit and her current career plans within the music industry. She is probably best known for her 2005 singles, “Make her Feel Good” & “No Daddy,” along with her Roc-A-Fella records association. After being dropped by Def Jam in 2006, she moved on to a development deal with Fo’Reel Ent and tried unsuccessfully to release a sophomore album. Now learning from her past mistakes, the 24 year-old says she knows what she wants and is now taking her career into her own hands.
As seen on hit VH1 show, Love & Hip-Hop, Teairra is now working with producer Rico Love and still plans on putting out a sophomore release soon. Check out the interesting interview video below..

Omg it’s that ghetto girl from the reality show Love and Hip Hop.
Wow! You know T.Mari had a career before Love & Hip-Hop?
She’s still that ghetto girl from Love and Hip Hop..lol (shrug)
@circ1984 I know she was a singer before appearing on LHH and tha’s why I don’t understand what she’s doing there acting like ghetto hood rat, I was shock.
I remember when she first signed to the roc it was her and rhianna, I guess Rih withstood the test of time but honestly I wish it wouldve been Teairra Mari b/c her voice is better!!!! but there is sooo many people out in the world that can sing..U really have to stand out in the music/entertainment biz and seperate yourself, either that or create some good publicity!
I RESPECT WHAT DUDE HAD TO SAY— HOT 97 no need to answer to nicki wack minaj
I like her but I think she is missing that “IT” factor it takes to make it big. Very cute girl, can carry a good tune, but I think she should try to transition more into acting as a backup plan. She did a good job in her cameo with Lottery Ticket. When I saw her on Love & Hip-Hop I thought that was a good platform for her to promote her music but she is a lot younger than the rest of those women on the show so it is hard for her to “fit in.”
nice segment she’s always had a nice voice! she did great in ‘Lottery Ticket’ too.
Her last EP was dope

I think I am the only person who bought her debut album. It was actually decent. “Phone Booth” is still my song. I agree with her needing a “It” factor. Something is def lacking in her career and coming out with that goldiggin song “Sponsor” sure as hell didnt help her career. I like her voice so I hope this producer helps her and she has alot of success
Lol. I loved her song “Act Right”
Wish her the best.
It’s good that the creator of this site highlighted the portion where it states that now Teairra Mari “knows what she wants”, because that is the reason why she was dropped from Roc-A-Fella Records in the first place. She and Rihanna were signed at the same time and Rihanna’s career was skyrocketed by the entertainment industry, and this female’s career fizzled. The reason why that happened is because Rihanna did whatever she was asked (and continues to do whatever she is asked), and obviously this female found something that she was asked to do to be “objectionable”. People must understand that the ONLY DIFFERENCE between an “R&B star” and the average black chic singing in the church choir or in hood clubs is the willingness to take the oath. “Teairra Mari” obviously did not want to sacrifice someone close to her, submit herself to the monarch programming, and/or fully pledge herself to the B@phomet, and now she is ready to do that for the sake of “stardom”. It will be interesting to see if they give her a second chance.
Judah you are so correct this is the third time she has tried to launch her career. I guess she has some morals…
Agree with Judah
Wait didn’t read the last few sentences but I do agree with the fact she was probably more sure of what she wanted to do than Rihanna and how she wanted to be represented. Also I think image and personality might have had an effect on her success as well.
Duh stupid
Got mad love for Rico Love but TM is gonna find out that Rico aint no Jam & Lewis. Not even remotely. I think she needs to figure out how to entertain the masses not just the hood cause the hood is fickle. They either embrace you or they don’t. I agree with Judah also.
@ Circ1984 I love that song too lol
I’m really looking forward to her new album I have been for a long time now.lol
I hope when ever or if ever her album comes out that it blows up big.
This is that same ghetto, black chick that was instigating on Love & Hip-Hop. I can’t stand this chick at all and never did like her because of her classless attitude. Someone said Rihanna stayed because she did whatever Def Jam wanted, but Teairra was quick to sell her a– too. I still remember when one of my former friends, who lived in the D, told me that it was going around that nobody liked Teairra because she had a diva attitude and was a b–ch to everyone. Isn’t it funny how she said “I wasn’t really close with anyone from high school anymore and had no one to turn to besides the people from the label?” TERROR you are never going to make it and Rico most certainly can’t help you.
I really hope this time is it for T, I loved her first album and all her mixtapes are hot! her drive is great, despite all of the false starts she has had she is still pushing forward and hasn’t given up. I have always wondered where she could be right now if Jay didn’t drop her…she came out at the same time as Rihanna and to me was the better artist…hopefully Rico can help her secure her spot….I cant wait for the album!
I do believe that part of what happened with her being dropped was her alleged diva attitude…I do get that vibe from her and I am sure it was raging at 17 just being signed to Roc A Fella, her song was really hot then, the video was getting spun like crazy on 106, she was guest hosting there..and then it all stopped….so Im sure there is something behind that…but it appears that she has learned from her past mistakes. I noticed she said she has learned that “kindness is key” so I am sure she realized the error of her ways…and I am rooting for her to actually make it this time…
*yawn* she’s irrelevant . that’s why she had to play the Hoodrat in Love&HipHop . #Next
well
What made Rihanna a star was her essence
those exotic eyes, her nasally voice(which helps sell pop music), and her island background made her stand out, she’s cute as hell, she can make any song a hit, fashion designers love her, and she appeals to a WIDE audience, Teairra sadly has a voice, that any cute ghetto girl trying to make it in the industry has, she’s not different then the wannabes. Rihanna made it big” because there really isnt anyone else like her and to become a music star you have to be unique.
