We’ve previously mentioned the new TV Land sitcom The Soul Man which stars Cedric the Entertainer as Rev. Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine, an R&B superstar-turned-minister who takes over as preacher of his father’s church.
Premiering Wed., June 20, at 10 ET, the series also stars Niecy Nash as his wife, John Beasley as his father, Wesley Jonathan as his brother and Jazz Raycole as his daughter.

Isn’t that the original Claire from “My Wife and Kids”, what happened to her? I always hated how the replaced her with Jennifer Freeman, who looked nothing like her character.
The reason they replaced her was because the original girl’s mother had problem with her doing a certain episode. (it was some about pregnancy..) She(the mom) didn’t find it appropriate (since the girl was a young age) and her mother took her off the show…so then came a new Claire.
I know why she was replaced, but they could of replaced her with a girl who resembled her.
@TRP- What does it matter whether they got a girl who looked like the old character or not? What matters is her acting skills and the 2nd girl’s acting skills were MUCH better than the first one.
I’m happy they switched her.. They did the Becky..

Had the lowest of expectations going in but was pleasantly surprised…I loved it! Nicey and Ced make a sweet couple. Will def keep watching.

Niecy looks amazing and she and Ced have good chemistry…The daughter is great w/ them…love grandpa he’s been acting forever & soooo excited to see Wesley Jonathan! He is still as fine as he was when I got up every Sat morning just to watch him on City Kids! lol Anybody remember that?
P.S. The church lady that said, “She’s trying to Vegas up our hair” was on the “Side Part Under” episode of The Game. Loved her.

The first episode of the show was decent.
i like the show & i’m a fan of Niecy & Johnatan but I dont like the daughter i didn’t like her in my wife & kids either her acting sucks!

To be honest at times it was a bit corny, but I see it having potential. I LOVE Neicy Nash! She’s amazing! Plus I heard that Brandy will be making a few cameos.
the ending scene was the best part when the lady tried to take the mic. everything else was cheesy. it does have potential though

Very cute show. I didnt care for the “I wanna have sex with you and drinking part..but I thought it was good overall. Love Ceddy Bear and Niecy.
