Remember Antonique Smith? She is probably best known for playing singer Faith Evans in the 2009 movie, Notorious. Well like many of her counterparts, Antonique is not only an actress, but she is also a singer. Citing music as her first love, her new press release says she is a mixture of Adele, Barbra Streisand and Beyonce… Very interesting.

I like this, actually. I do hear a bit of the toni braxton thing, but i could also hear Brandy singing this song. Its kind of a classy type song isn’t it. On second thought, I could also hear Katy perry or Leona Lewis. It really could be a hit (with the right mix) they need to bring that bass up a bit and let that track bump. and the imaging is off…. she has a beautiful smile and this song isn’t suited to sex as much as it is a smile. be endearing and cute chile… and why the Smith. Antonique is strong enough; Just go by that. thirdly, WARDROBE.

All of these comments must be from her PR team. Are people listening to what I’m listening to? I mean, she’s not as bad as Karli Redd from RHWOA but she sings just as good as an “Ashanti” or “Ciara” AT BEST. Stop it yall. If she was on American Idol, you guys wouldn’t even vote for her. This is a STAGE voice; good enough for theater but not a record deal. The song is fantastic but we aren’t judging her song writing abilities, we are judging her voice (furthermore, who is to say she wrote the song). It was a 6 on a scale of 1-10 for me. Maybe I wouldn’t have judged it so harshly had she not compared herself to Adele and Barbara Streisand.

What you’re really saying is, you would get something from it if she was a white chic…. her voice is much more than average and doesnt deserve to be in the categories of an ashanti or ciara… and this coming from a singer/vocal coach. she has control of vibrato, great timbre/tone/ clarity… essentially everything that those other singers you mentioned do not have. I’m not saying she’s barbara streisand, but who’s checking for babs nowadays anyway. Plus this is one song and this song called for her to sing it THIS way. Especially when you consider all of the singers who have also worked in theatre (before and after being signed) case and point: Jill Scott. Who , might I add, could sing Adele under a table like a redheaded stepchild. People get so caught up in the small things. Observe the bigger picture.
