Though I originally planned to skip this Ashanti post, I saw the number of comments it drew and figured the song had to be good, so hit ‘play’…only to be astonished at how poor her vocals, the production and the rappers are. After reading the comments, I have to agree, this track is the pits. I really enjoyed many of Ashanti’s singles from the past, despite never finding her to be a talented vocalist. I agree that if she and her people can’t come with better produced material than this, she should think about throwing in the towel. (The good news is, she looks a lot better in these promo photos than she’s looked in appearances over the last several months; I guess it’s either the looks or the sound that work for her, but not both at once, apparently…)

Wow, I was a big Ashanti fan in this past, but seriously this song is just OK. She had GREAT songs in the past, although even back then some people didn’t think she was a strong vocalist. The reason why she sounded good on Hip Hop joints back in the day was because the rappers she was collaborating with actually had some LYRICAL TALENT. They didn’t rap over techno/digital tracks. Just my personal opinion, but I think Ashanti’s music is GARBAGE!!!! It always has been to me…with her non-singing self. The only song I liked was the one where the video had Terrance Howard in it…forgot the name of it though. Her popcorn love, gum drop sounding music is not music to my ears.
