According to various reports, 80s rapper Ms. Melodie (real name Ramona Parker) passed away this week. Known for her 1989 album, Diva and for being married to rapper KRS-1 for a few years, she also was apart of the trailblazing Boogie Down Productions.. Kerry Washington and Jimmy Kimmel announced the nominees for the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards and a handful of black stars were nominated including, Idris Elba (nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie), Don Cheadle (nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) and Loretta Devine (Nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series). She said: “I send love and positive energy to all those people in their lives. WOW @ the photo of Jason Kidd’s SUV; he better get it together. I’m just glad that an innocent person didn’t lose their life to his negligence. The Lord spared his life, I hope he realizes that he must have a purpose; and to do something positive with it.

I’m still trying to figure out the ignorance of calling someone a hater who does not go with the flow of everyone else’s opinions or thought patterns. If I choose not to care for a particular artist or person. How am I a hater? Everybody’s preference and taste is different. Get it together black people because this is an overused term in the black community. Human beings are becoming more and more weak and not able to take criticism or accept the fact that EVERYBODY is NOT going to be interested in what you say or do. So they coin you as a hater.

Thank you. You articulated well exactly my thoughts. I have always hated (no pun intended) that term, it is far over (and inappropriately) used. And when 11-year-olds talk about having “haters” I just can’t even take it seriously…let alone when full grown adults say it. It’s mostly a term used by narcissists–scary that she’s using it so young.

Why is she talking to Yahoo? She claims she doesn’t want to be famous or have notoriety, so act as a regular kid as much as you can. No regular eleven year old is talking to Yahoo, about “haters” no less.
I understand why she calls people haters. If you say that you don’t like what she is wearing or he singing than that is your opinion but people are so cruel and will say stupid and ugly things that doesn’t have anything to do with her talent or nontalent. Hater is used by anyone who can’t except the fact that u don’t agree with them. This word is the fall back word for insecure people. Get a dictionary and expand your vocabulary people. The use of this word has now become embarrassing. Everyone is not hating. It’s called having a different opinion. SMH. I’m willing to bet that this word is used only by black people.
