No, actually the God of the Bible is his problem. He, and the people in his belief system know more about God than most so-called Christians do, and they’ve just decided that they want nothing to do with Him because they are of this world, and the god of this world is S@tan. Gay folk need to get over themselves. We all have to abide by God’s rules, no exceptions. folk in hell now for fornicating and committing adultery, lying, murder, gossiping, etc and gay folk think they get a free pass while everyone else has to pay for their sins. They have to pay for the sin on homosexuality just like straight folk have to pay for their sins. I agree with whoever said his music is dope. You really have to put all the B.S. aside that artists these days use to sell music with Frank – he’s not handsome, he really doesn’t have any swag or charisma, and now he’s not going to try to market himself as some ladies man or sex symbol because he came out and said he’s gay. I believe the “coming out” was a PR ploy, yes, but not for the reasons anyone thinks. I don’t think this dude could care less about the number of records he sells. He wants people to focus on the music, and he is systemically removing all of the obstacles to you doing that. Some of his stuff is absolutely brilliant, and you’re going to have to appreciate that about him, the same way you appreciate it about other really good MUSIC people who don’t need hype and EXTRA to sell their stuff – Jill Scott, Stevie Wonder…I can’t even think of anybody else right now. Frank’s not worried – that’s what you see in those pictures. Someone who’s doing what he loves and doesn’t care at all what anybody else thinks about it. Not even the haters.
I know when one expresses an unpopular opinion, they run the risk of being labelled a “hater”….having said that, I’ll still say that while I’m a fan of Frank Ocean, I don’t think he’s “the new Prince, D’angelo, Stevie Wonder”. He’s a talented guy who actually has something to show…to validate his record deal. Yes, the album is a solid first effort, but it’s not “legendary”. Frank Ocean is not a “deep” writer. He’s just a singer who tells stories well…like ALL singer-songwriters are supposed to do. The thing is that we’re so used to people talking about money and sex over a techno beat, that everyone who does something else is deemed “a legend” ex: Adele. Again, I am a fan, but lets not overrate the guy.
I heard that almost 99% of the people who have heard about Frank Ocean’s ‘coming out’ heard it wrong/read it wrong. He did not say: ‘I am gay”, he said I fell in love with a man ONCE. I AM going to generalize now and say (North-)American people sure do now how to first of all blow things out of proportion and second blowing the WRONG thing out of proportion.
This was not about accepting him as a gay man, but (for Frank) about letting his fans or people know what has been going on in his life. People SURE have let their true colours show…
Frank Ocean is a talented artist and his album is amazing.
