“Singer” Nicki Minaj chats it up host Jay Leno during the taping of the “Tonight Show” on Friday the 13th. The 29 year-old spoke about her old job at Red Lobster and her voice work for the latest Ice Age move. Following the interview, Nicki performed her new single, “Pound the Alarm” and the performance was in normal Nicki fashion, MEDIOCRE – but hey she’s getting money right? Riiight.

i loved her performance. i thought it was fun, colorful and it made me look forward to the video for pound the alarm. i thought her interview was funny and very entertaining. i really didnt see anything mediocre or lackluster about her performance. it was fun to watch.

I watched it. It was good. It’s kind of hard not to like her, even though I find some things about her and some records so very over-the-top. She seems like a cool person, and I liked her performance on the show a lot. Great energy!

That was one of her best performances in my book. It was energetic and fun. Her interview was pretty good. She does seem like a cool person to be around. Hope she keeps it going and not try to be someone else.

The real talent in this performance is the blonde backup dancer Sara Bivens! That little lady is one dynamic firecracker of a dancer! Love love love the way she moves it! Nicki 15 minutes are almost up. Way to go Sara! You killed it!!!

I almost lost respect for Angel and this entire blog for throwing shade at Nicki. Her performances are usually mediocre, but this performance in particular is a improvement in my eyes.

You know what, people love to hate this young lady, but truth be told, we haven’t had a female hip hop star besides Missy in a long while. People don’t want to admitt it, but we need her to win so other female hip hop artists can. You may not like her style or music but she’s winning and that means record lables can start to see value in female hip hop artists again. They don’t all have to be Nicki Minaj’s and I don’t want them too, but it’s good to see a female hip hop artist on the charts with hits.
