Oprah’s interview with Rihanna was must watch T.V. on Sunday night (August 19). Not only was the 24 year-old pop superstar CANDID about her relationship with Chris Brown, she opened up about her vulnerability, the loss of her grandmother and why she needs her fans. She also showed Oprah around her childhood stomping grounds and had a special surprise for her mother.
I would have to say that out of all of the recent Rihanna interviews, this has to be the best. Not only because she was speaking from the heart, but you can tell she has grown up a lot. For those of you who missed the interview, I typed up a few quotes/snippets. Check them out below..
ON HER CURRENT RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIS BROWN:
“We’ve been working on our friendship again and now we are very very close friends. We built a trust again. We love each other and we probably always will, and that’s not anything that we’re going to try to change. That’s not something you can shut off if you ever been in love. I thought this was a great interview also. She was so honest and raw. She looked amazing, being in her natural state not made up. She had on sneakers, her hair lose and was “chilling” with Oprah on the couch lol I loved when she drove Oprah around her area where she grew up and everyone was calling her by her real name Robyn. She was sweet and actually very funny. I really enjoyed watching. A nice change from the boring interviews where they pretty much tell us what we already know! lol
I had never seen Rihanna in a personal sit-down type interview before and was pleasently surprised. I enjoyed her so much. She seems so down-to-earth and regualar/real. What she and Chris had was intense and I can totally understand all those feelinigs she described. Rihanna is beautiful and so is her accent. I really just loved the interview with Oprah, my only gripe is that is was too short. It should have been at least a two hour interview but regardless Rihanna has made a new fan out of me. Loved it

Rihanna spoke from her heart, and did not sound scripted at all. She was REAL, and original with her questions. That interview made me like her character. I love people who speaks from the hear and not the ones who speak as if they are playing chess all calculated and stuff.
Phenomenal interview. Aspects of Rhinna’s sincerity can be questioned…a little too sugary at times. It is what it is.

Neil: She was well coached for this interview. What a public image says to the public is often contirived and devisive. Her handlers wanted to be sure that she personify vulnerability and sweetness. I do not think that she was worried about appearing too vulnerable. In her making mention of being ” too soft”, it obviously was on the forefront of her conscience. I think that she was seeking validation from Oprah that she hit her mark. All in a days work. She is charismatic and smart. I like her.

I was thinking the same thing! What weight must have been lifted for her to actually speak her feelings and be confident enough to do it. I understand the love she has for Chris. For her to be more concerned about his feelings and reputation speaks volumes about the intensity of their relationship. I understand it 100% and if you haven’t experienced that kind of love you can’t comment or tell Rihanna what to do/not to do. Oprah asked all the right questions and Rihanna came off as nothing less than open and sincere. I don’t get into the little kid battles over celebrities I don’t know personally. @TRUTHFULLYSPEAKING, I understand him wanting to keep hush, but how could she? How could she make an agreement to pass on the drama when her face was splat all over the screen? How could she face her fans? Sure, it would be “smart” for him to get everyone to keep their mouth shut, but how “smart” would that make her? I’m only addressing your point about celebrities handling “hot water” situations. Most times there are no photos of the victim, but somebody had to explain that “assault and battery”. She would have set domestic violence back 30 years if she would’ve cut a back-room deal with Christopher Maurice Brown. Besides, it was better for him to take full responsibility, than having his people get with her people to clean up the mess.
This is really sad. Not in the sense that I feel sorry for Rihanna, but in the sense that her career revolves around her “tragic” private life experiences, sex, image, and wild tactics. I am sick and tired of this talentless fool. How many times is she going to talk about this incident that happened over 3 years ago? For those who don’t know, a celeb being interviewed can opt out of questions. I wonder why so many on here are saying that Rihanna is so real and genuine. Are you kidding me? It’s crazy how many forgot that she purposely used the incident to get sympathy sales and awards and then turned right around and did a song with her so called abuser and starting sexing him and bragging about being “friends” with him on all her social networks. Not to mention her violent sex songs and her cussing out her fans when they expressed how disappointed they were that she went back to someone who hurt her. Rihanna is insane and as fake as can be. She’s madly in love with Chris because he was the only one she could relate to. No REAL MAN, I REPEAT NO REAL MAN WANTS HER SKANKY BEHIND; that’s why all she gets is guys who want to hit and leave and cheat. She’s a disgrace to young women. Sex, drugs, alcohol, wild fights is all she consists of and then she tries to act all sweet and incident in an Oprah interview. Wake up people! People can be so naïve.
It’s funny how Rihanna is really the only big named celebrity that came out about her domestic abuse situation with another big named celebrity the way she did and used it to blow up her career. Many of the other ones just kept that between their family and friends. I couldn’t imagine. It’s important to keep private life separate from the public and that is something that she has not learned and will never learn.
