High fashion line DOLCE & GABBANA showcased their new Spring/Summer 2013 Collection this past weekend in Milan and let’s just say a lot of people were not pleased. The luxury brand used images of “Blackamoors” on many of the dresses and even had a couple of the models wearing “blackamoor” heads as earrings. Adding fuel to the fire was the fact that there weren’t any black models walking the runway for the collection…
Blackamoors are defined as “archaic a Black or other person with dark skin, usually from Africa.” They were very popular in 16th and 17th century Europe and were used in sculpture, jewelry, armorial designs and decorative art. Some of the images definitely correlate with the racist images of America’s past (Aunt Jemima, Black Mammy, etc). However, a few commentators on the Huffington Post said it is no big deal.
What is your take on some of these “2013″ looks? Are you offended? Check out a few more images below…

SMH!! The more things change the more they stay the same.
its not offensive…its paying HOMAGE…you dumb blacks…! ya’ll always crying about seeing black faces in fashion and now not only are their black faces walking down the runway there are black faces on clothes…sometimes i hate blacks and their “ignorant” minds…ps I’M BLACK!!!!!!
Life is so lonely .I am a rich and single man at present .I need a woman who can love me back .I also uploaded my hot photos on —-—-Millionαiretαg,c o M—––under the name of jeff1098..It’s the largest and best club for seeking CEOs, pro athletes, doctors, lawyers, investors, entrepreneurs, beauty queens, fitness models, and Hollywood celebrities. Please Check it out!I’m seriousdyrt
We are not DUmb! Not one African American model was used!
Open ur eyes and see the Racism!
Some of the looks aren’t bad, but you won’t see my black ass wearing any of this. They did this for publicity. It’s very obvious..
hello Teena i work in Venice Italy and realize jewelry moors, in my city these things are done since 1500. D & G did not invent anything if you want to have a look at my news site veneziagioielli.com
JUDAH with a breakdown in 3, 2, 1…. lol!
Its sooooooooooooo funny because it’s sooooooooo true lmfao… rofl. Oh my god. I needed that (wiping tears away) Thanks.
Lol, honestly I did not notice this thread until I saw “Boots’s” comment in the “Top 5 comments” section asking for me. I thought this was another one of these fashion posts for you black women to salivate over clothes that are too expensive for you and can’t fit you anyway lol.
Judah…why? You have insight into so much but you are always so negative with your comments about black women. We come in all shapes and sizes and we have various levels of income. Some can afford the clothes, some can’t – some can fit the clothes others cannot. Why do you negate your intelligence with such scathing remarks on this site? I’m not even trying to pick a fight, I seriously just want to know where that comes from …
@GG BOO
He thinks like everybody who belongs in his religious cult. They all hate/detest black women, and plan on killing/slaughtering us one day. They’re all over Youtube preaching their hate and disdain for black women. It’s really scary.
@ GG BOO
If it’s not you, then you shouldn’t be offended. Black females do worship articles of clothing that are well above their level of income in an attempt to mimic allegedly “European” fashion trends. The same way black males shoot and stab each other over sneakers and jewelry. The difference is that when someone mentions what the black male does, it is viewed as fact, not stereotype. You black females have an issue with accountability.
@ DON’T BE SHOCKED
Miss, no one is planning on “slaughtering” you lol. For you to be “scared” is really an indicator of how ev!l you probably are. Many of you sisters have no “fear” when you’re out at all times of the day and night dressed like wh0res, putting yourself in precarious situations, making bad decisions, and associating with criminals.
@JUDAH
Do you need some help slaughtering some of these black whores? I got my machete with me. Let’s start in Brooklyn, then we’ll make our rounds down to the dirty south. Those women are big as hell down there and got bad attitudes.
@ CHICK FILET
Lol, nah I’m good. It’s just funny to me that black females think that they can be so negative and masculine and yet be the recipients of positive energy. That’s not how things work.
@ Chick Filet bring your ass to Brooklyn with that shit and see what the hell pops off.
It’s incredibly disheartening to know that, our people (the strongest people) , can’t find the strength to be more than overly critical assholes, with chips on their shoulder. I hate this ollection for two reasons: 1. Dolce and Gabanna took an African tradition and placed it on the backs of those who despise us the most. (what’s with the black faces) 2. They will also make a killing off of something completely stolen. It isn’t anew thing, but it’s still a shady thing. @Judah for someone with some much knowledge, you’re very ignorant. Use some of your “book” smarts, learn to build a heart, install it and shut your mouth. Black people (we’re more than that color thing), here in America are based off misery, grief, deceit, death, and frankly we are continuously passing this bull crap to our babies. something has to change.
This looks incredibly foolish.
What is their reasoning for doing this?
They look ridiculous, the outfits are ugly – especially the top and shorts outfit.
Agreed!!
The sad part is some idoit of a girl is going to wear it, because it Dolce and Gabbana.
INDEED I FIND THESE SYMBOLS OF SLAVERY TO BE OFFENSIVE; IF D & G ARE LOOKING TO CAUSE HYSTERIA AND ALARM THEY’VE ACCOMPLISHED THAT…..IT’S WHAT WE DO TODAY TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND MATTER THAT STILL PERMEATES GLOBALLY AND VICIOUSLY IN THE USA….RACISM.
what slave do you know that was ever allowed to wear a flower headdress and lipstick…? stupid azz…! these arent slaves but queens!
I don’t think the dresses look bad, but its just not right. And then not to have any black models is a real slap in the face. I dont care for Dolce and Gabanna clothing anyway. I find that it is usually really overpriced low quaility clothing.
What??? This was definitely done on purpose. Whites intentionally try to mock a certain group, then turn around and act like they didn’t know it was wrong.
I agree. They are exploiting black people by using slave images on clothing for publicity. They are desperate for attention and this is a trick to get attention on their dull and boring line of clothes.
These are not pictures of slaves… LMAO!!! These are pictures of black Queens.
@INDIGO
You’re right, they are Queens. I’m gonna go purchase my own outfit today to pay “homage”. Did you want one?
@Cheers.. You can pick me up a pair of those door knockers..lol
@INDIGO
Good choice. I just purchased mine from Ebay this afternoon (for a much cheaper price). I also ordered some maracas. Don’t ask me why.
I think it’s a mockery to exploit, but I have found that other races dream of having what we have. They wish they had our nose, our hair, our color, our swag. Its just the minority thing that they despise. No one wants to be singled out of economic empowerment and equality. The majority has it previllages. The earings and other symbols could be viewed as Carnival if displayed in Rio or Barbados. The sad truth is that we rarely benefit from our “African likeness” until someone else accepts it and creates a market. I wonder what Michelle would have to say?
I agree totally with you meat. It isn’t until we as Black People and everything we stand for become accepted in the White world and then were so called accepted. That is B_ _ _ S_ _ _. We need to start doing for self. Becoming more self-suffient. Black Men stop dating these White Women, and Black Women stop dating these White Men. White Folks always trying to claim our heritage, our Culture, our Ethnicity, our Rights just like they have been doing, and just like they continue to do until we as Black people realize and start sticking together that is when we can start demanding designers like Dolce and Gabbana to take his foolishness and go to hell, because that is pure mockery and sarcasm/not market such Garb. Too, to not have any Black Models is just one big slap in the face of injustice. It’s time Black people that we wake up and stand for us and who we are as a people and stop making excuses for being Black. You don’t see no other race of people making excuses for who they are and how they were created. We are just the ignorant people. The time has come for us to say no to injustice. The law only benefit White folks, Black men can’t get job because the White man is so inferior and alot of us still have that slave mentality. – Harriet Ross Tubman – “I freed a thousand slaves, I could have free a thousand more if only they knew that they were slaves”. . . So relevant to how most of us act and think today. Wake Up People . . . I love being BLACK, and so should you.
@Maleeka Medley
It’s no conincident that Madonna, Angeline and Sandra Bullock are adopting little black babies. They know the soul of man is rich in our heritage. We buy our clothes and shoes from Macy’s, Marshalls, and the European shops. We eat food from the Asians (shrimp fried rice) and Italian (Friday night pizza) shops. But, they never stop by to patronize our community. If we had every dollar on the planet, it would be back in their hands by sundown. We by their used cars and homes, but they only wants ours in a short-sale or wholesale. Michille is the first to wear a black designer, so I wonder how she would react to this. Soon, they will capitalize on black genius like Motown, BET, Stevie Wonder, Michael, Teddy, Curtis, Donnie, and the list goes on. Just like they bought up Harlem, Watts and Oakland. It’s not the culture or the heritage…its the stigma that goes with being in the minority.
They probably feel like they’re seeing too many blacks take a liking to their products and this is their effort to turn us away and emphasize their target demographic. It happens all the time, but in more subtle ways.
True.
they r just paying hommage thts it relax people
I kinda of feel this way as well. I understand the offense but I really think they are trying to emulate these women (automatic fail since they are all white) but its out of a place of hommage for the most part.
Didn’t know fruit basket hats and bright red lipsticks were a way to give hommage to black people.
lol @ cheers, not sure about a ‘homage’
I chose not to get offended. If some of the images relate to early racism the that is a huge shame.
I usually really like D&G clothing, I must not be ‘creative’ enough to get this look.
No one will have the *$%£” to wear these prints.
LOLL I blame my phone (everybody else does)
They are playing, but I don’t know if it’s homage. They are playing on people emotions. lol I’m not offended at all… I find it beautiful.
**Paying
@ INDIGO
EXACTLY. “Homage” is way too strong a word. They are utilizing images for artistic purposes and artistic license. You must know what you’re looking at in order to know what is being conveyed. They are not going to go out of their way to tell you who you are or where you come from, nor should they.
horrible!
u act like they out shackles on the damn ppl
D&G does similar things with Italian culture. Glorifying and playing up to stereotypes in their ad campaigns. I don’t think its intentional to be offensive but it is in the fact that there are no women of colour wearing the clothes/earrings. I’d wear a shirt like that or dress because it reminds me of the women of Cuba and because I am a Latina. Not a blond runway model.
Just homage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly though…I like it. The pieces are great. I’d rock the hell-fire out of those earrings. The collection is exquisite. I believe the issue is that designers and company aren’t of African descent and that makes people a little nervous but that shouldn’t take away from how genius the concept really is. It’s ok for others to take notice of just how beautiful the African diaspora is.
it specifically says 2013 SPRING COLLECTION… NOT 1842 SPRING!! People we really got to do better. Yes, Racism is still in existence today. However, the designer may have wanted to simply pay homage to the African culture. Besides everyone want to bash someone for putting a black woman’s face on clothing but yet WE KILL OFF each other and degrade one another with simple gestures every day. If the intention is to pay homage to the culture that is fine but please stop taking it overboard & stop attacking everyone by titling it with racism and start making our ethnic background have substance minus the name you all are giving it already!
I like the pieces. I actually love the woman’s face. It extrude beauty and culture. Maybe races maybe not…
When they come out with their “White Girl” line, I’ll base my feelings off that
As a dark-skinned woman with full lips, I find it beautiful and not offensive at all. People need to take responsibility for how they feel so if you look at that beautiful woman and see mammy, aunt jemima or whatever than that is on you not the designer since we dont the designers intent. I’m more offended by rappers and their constant use of the “n” word and little white wannabe thugs emulating that usage than I am of this designer’s “art”.
I meant to write that we dont know the designers intent.
To be honest, I don’t find it offensive at all. It doesn’t represent all blacks. Blacks have different nationalities. It is representing Black Africans and it is not like they look like slaves. I for one hate it when something really is racist, but white people, who stereotype but act like they don’t, say they are tired of little things being considered racist and say it’s petty. For someone like me to not think this is racist, it’s saying a lot. The lady on the clothing is very unattractive and many of the pieces are ugly, but I don’t think it was intentionally offensive or for publicity. D&G would be stupid to do such a thing because many BLACK celebrities, who wear their clothes, would stop supporting them.
PEOPLE WAKE UP!! THIS IS NOT OFFENSIVE. ITS ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL. WHY DO BLACK PEOPLE ALWAYS LIKE TO COMPLAIN. WHEN WE ARE NOT INVOLVED WE COMPLAIN, WE WE DO WE COMPLAIN! PEOPLE ITS FASHION AND ITS DONE BEAUTIFULLY! WAKE UP MY POEPLE!!
@Doubt
When we are not involved, we should complain! I see this “collection” more like Paul Simon’s Graceland than I do the blood Diamonds where we get used and we get little or nothing. Graceland started an era. Simon extracted a part of the culture that the world wasn’t interested in until a popular white artist came along and gave it life. If this collection becomes a catch, black designers can defy the monoply. Mainstream would not embrace these colors or fabrics if Kanye and Diddy produced them. Yes, it beautiful, but it also stereotyped with the headrags, big lips, and gunny sack material…only to be worn by models with little bird lips and noses. So yeah, we should complain like Spike Lee did when Clint Eastwood failed to include a single black soilder in the movie “Guardian”. Eastwood then talked to an empty chair at the GOP convention. He just loves to leave us out! lol Call it oversight, but I think, as in Eastwood’s case, its well thought out. No secret about the world he would like to live in. He told the chair to “Go @#&$ yourself!”
@ MEAT-PACKER
Those are not “head-rags” on the heads of those blackamoors you idiot. Those are what people today would call “turbans”, but what were known in the ancient time as “mitres” (Exodus 28:4). You would put on the mitre, and then sit a crown atop of it (Exodus 29:6). Those were worn by ROYALTY. You, as usual, no nothing about what you’re talking about. Those pictures are taken from actual COAT OF ARMS (if your dumb a$$ knows what that is). You’re here spewing your subjective, phony “pro-blackness” when you’re actually desecrating the royal history of our people. Like I stated to “Boots”, the white man has our records and knows our history, so he will sport it, because we choose to deny it. N!ggers prefer to listen to “Azealia Banks” and “Two Chainz” than to acknowledge something of substance. It is what it is.
POW!!
Really Indigo? lol At least a dog knows to lick his wounds, but you two are limping around like you just won the lotto. Go ahead and pout and get it out of your system. You can’t be that excited about two men discussing headrags and “turbans”. Only a man who is in touch with his effeminant side would call these turbans. The rest of us see “headrags”. lol Furthermore, I’m not trying to discuss headdressings or pumps or earings or panties with your leader. POW! I’ve seen your little “pile-on” tactics before, so save yourself some energy and move on. You’re only the placenta, not the one who actually gives life to all the negative evil. Ops! Did I just blaspheme? I attributed something evil to your leader…who can do no wrong and who knows everything. lol He would say, “no turning back” now! I see he brought out the “N-word, idiot, and dumb” so the earth will probably shake in his prision cell. Get away from him while you still have a chance!
@ MEAT… You have already been put in your please. Now go take a nap.POW!
*place
You’re doing way too much… Getting excited and going over the top should let you know when to give it a rest. He puts you in your place. I don’t live for his negative BS like you do…so, CL is where you get fed. All I try to do is snatch you children from the flames. I bet the people around you can’t stand you since you signed on to his mess. That should tell you something. Walking around like your enlightened! You may be bright, but you stank! lol
@Meat… Why are you worried about who likes me? Get grown…Snatch from the flames?? HA!! SMH.
@Indigo, I’m not worried about a thing!
Two reasons for snatching you: First, I’m sick of looking at all of his brown stuff on your nose! And secondly, “I would that none should perish”. lol
@ MEAT-PACKER
The best thing that happened to you was that “Indigo” commented, because it allowed you to divert yourself from my statement and engage in an argument with another woman as opposed to a debate with a man. You need to have KNOWLEDGE in order to engage in a debate lol. You have no understanding of how buffoonish you look denigrating your own people’s history. D@mn clown. You must think blackamoors wore Rocawear jeans and over-sized white t-shirts while they ruled kingdoms lol. Again, the “MITRE”, or as the white man calls it, the “turban”, was a royal headdress. You only mock the Bible, not anything else, when you make your nonsensical, overly-effeminate remarks.
“The best thing that happened to you was that “Indigo” commented, because it allowed you to divert yourself from my statement and engage in an argument with another woman as opposed to a debate with a man.” You see Indigo… He just exerted his dominance over you. One has to “divert” from him to argue with a woman to avoid a debate with him….a man…who thinks a headrag is a turban. I know I can’t debate fashion with him. He’s cleaver that way! lol Headdress and pumps are his speciality. One thing I do know is, those are rags tied around those womens heads. I know a dooRag when I see one. lol
@ MEAT-PACKER
Those earrings are depicting MALES, not females you idiot lol.
lol You just don’t get it… I am not discussing women fashions with you. Not the earing, the dresses, or the pumps. You can do kaffeeklatsch with Indigo or Anonymous, but I’m not the one. lol You’re really stuck on this one.
@ MEAT-PACKER
You’re not discussing “women’s fashions”? Since when lmao? Lemme find out it’s your face on the earrings and you’re mad lmaooo….
It’s done tastefully. It is not similar at all to the derogatory black face images that show over exaggerated features of black Americans. Also the clothing itself is very appealing. However I would like to know the designer’s justification behind this line and if it is to pay homage to African Americans or blacks in general why were models of color left out of the show?
@ RD
What is a “model of color” lol?
Google it and feel stupid, lol?
@ RD
Google what? I asked you a basic question. What is a “model of color”???? You used the phrase so you should know what it means right?
No you were trying to be funny but actually it is a term. Since you know everything why don’t you google it and find out what it means for yourself. Thanks dummy.
@ RD
You mad lmao? No, actually I’m not trying to be “funny”. I asked you a question. I found it odd and humorous that in one comment you used three different terms to describe a race of people, which seems to denote that you were trying to be “sensitive” or to sound intelligent. It’s also funny that normally you have so much to say to me. At least you’re smart enough to grasp that this conversation is way above your intellectual strata and you don’t want to look as stupid as you are. I have no idea what a “model of color” is. Do you know the meaning of the statement that you used or no?
Just admit you sound stupid. You tried to make a joke and it didn’t work. Point blank. You mad? Dumbass
@RD, lol He’s a pharisaical person who insist on validating his own evil obsessions. The pharisees would ask Chri$t questions that they knew the answers too. Christ didn’t cooperate and neither should you. You can’t trust them, so, don’t play his game… You prove that you have the dominant position when you resist the dev!l. That drives him mad. Now, get ready for his name calling! lol
@ RD
You have an anger management problem lmaoooo.
@ MEAT-PACKER
You make up more words than Jesse Jackson lmao. What’s “pharisaical”? You and “RD” are two peas in a pod. The only difference is that she knows when she’s made an a$$ of herself…..
Google it and feel stupid, lol?
LOL @ Meat exactly Judah feels like a dumbass and is trying to find every way possible to not look dumb lmao!!!! This is Hillarious!!!!
@RD,
He’s such a fashionista. He can’t let this one go! lol He’s probably done runway and just has a passion for the business. Such a Diva!
@ RD & MEAT-PACKER
Nah, actually I had to teach, and still have to clearly. What are you both so mad about lmao? Two fools together only amplifies foolery. I asked you both basic questions repeatedly, and all I got was a reference to “Google” because neither one of you understand the terms and words that you use. You’re scared to make a statement that will make you vulnerable to a retort because you’re intimidated by how I may respond. There is no such term as “pharisaical”, just like there is no such thing as a “person of color”. Those are strawman terms that have no basis in word etymology. That’s going to go way over both of your heads lmao. Your “color” has nothing to do with your nation i.e. race, which is why I asked you what a “model of color” is, when you were clearly implying a so-called “black” model. All nations are of “color”. The word “Pharisee” means “to separate” in the HEBREW. It has nothing to do with so-called “over-righteousness”, as Christ had “Pharisees” who followed him (Acts 15:5, Acts 23:6,7). When you READ THE BIBLE, the Pharisees were not “over-righteous” at all. They taught and enforced TRADITIONS OF MEN as law, which is what occurs today in the Christian church i.e. Easter, Christmas, Lent, etc. Meat-Packer, you, according to your strawman term, are “pharisaical” lol.
Um yea sure Judah, LMAO. With all that said you still are wrong and made yourself look stupid ROTFL!!!
@ RD
Did I not tell you that it was going to go way over your head lmao? You have “words” and you have “terms”. You have “definitions” and you have “etymologies”. An entirely different CONNOTATION can be added to a word (or term), whether that word be real or fabricated, that can give it an entirely different meaning. That is what is known as a “strawman”. You adhere to strawman conventionality, which is why you cannot explain anything, and you forward me to “google” lmao. You and “Meat-Packer” are excellent platforms from which I can bring forth whatever point I choose to bring forth. You’re like Wile E. Coyote lol. You get blown up by the dynamite every episode but you never learn.
Again. You’re wrong and still sound stupid. LMAO!!!
@ RD
Let’s lower the conversation to a level you can grasp….honey, what’s for dinner tonight?
Hell yeah! It is totally offensive. And it was intended to be. The line is going to gain huge publicity for the controversial line. And every foolish, wealthy Black person. Is going to buy it and wear it . While White America smiles. All the way to the bank.
I agree, the only other thing I have to say is oh wow!
Who the hell would wear this shit?
Interesting enough…when we feel “others” are offending us we voice our opinion (great comments by all)…fair enough… but let’s start at home when it comes to representing us and who we want the world to see us as…especially with some of the black women I see who come out the house with “bonnets” and “scarves” on their head to the supermarket and to run errands…let’s challenge ourselves to show up and look presentable…if you can color coordinate your earrings with your hair bonnet…you can comb down your hair from a wrap!
so u saying u have never seen a white woman with ‘scarves’ on their head? just asking… cause I’ve seen it
D&G: “Hmm, let’s see how we can piss off/ make fun of black people today, everybody else is doing it. I GOT IT! Let’s design some Mammy Wear!” Who in there right mind is gonna wear this s***???
I don’t see anything wrong with this collection. What’s the difference when black people have decorations of this in their homes? I think most people are only upset about because D&G are not black designers.
no
Where’s judah??????
I’m here, why? This exhibit is not a big deal, and it’s more of a reflection of black people’s ignorance than the white man’s racism. Like I’ve stated on this website numerous times, so-called blacks ruled Europe during the Middle Ages. “Blackamoor” is a medieval term. We fell out of power due to the bubonic i.e. “BLACK” plague, and in-fighting amongst the ruling (black) classes i.e. War of the Roses, Hundred Year’s War, Thirty Year’s War, etc. That is what allowed the white man, who was known during the Middle Ages as a “serf”, a “peasant”, a “wild man”, or a “villain” to come into power and usurp the monarchies. When he did that, he white-washed many of the images with the fake depictions that are seen in textbooks today, which is why people think that people who were actually black i.e. Robin Hood, Richard the Lionheart, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, King James I, Charlemagne, Vlad the Impaler, Ivan the Terrible, Beethoven, etc. were caucasian. Beethoven was known as the “BLACK SPANIARD”. Look it up. The modern-day images that are shown of people like Beethoven are FAKE. The images that are on those clothes in the exhibit are actually images from the coats of arms of the ruling families of Europe. We had whites (who are the descendants of the Greco-Romans) in hard bondage. They were not even allowed to look a black person in the face. That is why when they came into power, they flipped those laws in what is known as “Jim Crow”. Black people of this captivity (who are the descendants of the blacks that ruled Europe) refuse to accept their real history and wish to be “African” (because that is what the white man wants them to think), so the white man has basically said “Fine negro, since you don’t want this rich history, I’m claiming it.”. Over in Europe THEY KNOW that blacks ruled all the way up until the 1700′s in certain parts of that continent.
Thanks man. This was a great response and had some key information in there I was feeling. I knew about the Beethoven situation and even the Spaniards/Moors. But, there was some other information in there that was KEY and ESSENTIAL I had no clue about.
@ REHABKID
Yes, the blacks allowed the so-called “white man”, who was known then as the “red man” to inter-marry with them in the latter part of the Middle Ages. Those families that they couldn’t inter-marry with, they attempted to force out of power. That was what the “Gunpowder Plot” to remove King James was about. King James’s grandson, Charles I, was known as the “black boy”. Not to digress, but that is why I laugh when people call the Bible the “white man’s book”. The white man is condemned in the Bible, and their elite and their scholars know it. That is why they promote the lie that “Christ never existed”. Back on topic though, blacks ruled Europe in what was known as the “Holy Roman Empire” and other dynasties. The Crusades were actually fought to take back the land of Israel because the blacks that ruled Europe knew that they were the holy people of the Bible, the Israelites. In his movies i.e. “Kingdom of Heaven”, the white man depicts the crusaders as caucasians fighting against “Arabs”. In reality, it was the black rulers of Europe fighting against the caucasian Muslims known as the Ottoman Turks.
Thanks Judah. This knowledge is such a blessing to me & our people. I hope you will continue to teach on here & abroad.
Not only is this offensive, I suspect it’s intentional.
I’m not offended. History does not embarrass me. That is a symbol of my history not anyone. I don’t know about you.
YESSSS!
Personally I do not mind it. Would I wear it? No because its ugly/over the top like most high fashion pieces. However, if they want to emulate the black culture I take it as a compliment regardless of the intent. I did not see it is a mockery at all.
It never ceases to amaze how much white people and pretty much all non black people wish they were black. It kills them. They can have these rags and whatever else they need to feel important, black, powerful whatever. Thank you CL for bringing this issue to the forefront. As for D&G, who who cares what they do, what they wear, and what they think in the end death awaits us all. Do good on this earth, don’t live for people, follow your dreams, live everyday with a purpose, and heck just be a good person. Following those same principles, these cookie monsters can eat my dust!
The funny thing is they are stealing from African designers, and African colours in our materials, yes i am African.
But i just don’t know why one will sit there and create this, ‘shrugs’ . Get people talking thats all people want, the ideas (style layouts) just look stolen to me, with that so called american mammy symbol placed everywhere, on different types of material. Whatever, am i offended no, Just think its tacky.
I reviewed the entire collection on YouTube, before coming to a judgment. There are also white men imprinted on the dresses and earrings. I am not offended, more so inspired that the designers loved this textile so much! Fashion is about what inspires you for the season. I understand that the designers are from Italy and that slavery/African American history is not on their radar. Plus, she looks more Spanish/Dominican/Brazilian to me.
I think it’s cute I don’t find it offensive the clothing and the colors is beautiful and I love the earrings and head scraf’s I do wish they had a couple of black models in there to wear these african inspired outfits.
its art #period
how in the world is this offensive? Is that people have nothing else to talk about so they bring up this?
JUDAH, you have to realize that there are people out there that are not ready for this information. I applaud your efforts in trying to educate those that see and believe only the things that are in front of them.
You better not give Judah any credit… They will label you a worshiper. LOL And you are right, many are not ready… And this post shows the many who aren’t.
@ Indigo
Give him credit??? You miss the point. Artloverone was applauding some things that pertain to little more than an opinion on black history. That stuff is harmless. It’s all the Illuminate BS and degrading women that you keep throwing your applauds behind. Go back and read what he is applauding. That’s nothing. Artloverone could have left off all the talk about “people out there that are not ready for this…” You and he only show your arrogance and haughtiness when you say that others are not ready for information and you are. Evil politics!
It’s not offensive at all.If you ever been to europe, they always have moorish art, some black people need to do research on moors(black ppl) You be surprised how much we accomplished
At least if D&G is going to be that bold and disrespectful AT LEAST have some black models! That’s all I’m saying
Judah who pissed in your Cheerios?! *such anger*
Your mother did, before I potty trained her son lol.
Not offended by the clothes at all. If people wanna wear clothing with Beautiful Black Women on them….SO Be It!!!
@ CHICK FILA (09/27 COMMENT @ 1:35PM)
*****BRING IT****** PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
I just don’t like the fact that their is no black models but yet black people are the most consumers and spend a lot of money supporting these European designers
They aren’t in the wrong… The black fools who support them are.. The ones who are always dropping their name(s)..talkin bout WERK! LOL The clothing line could have had slaves on them, eating water melon while frying chicken and negros will still be the ones spending the most money while complaining…There’s a common motto i see used by today’s negro;”They’re making money, so?” This is why things like this go on..
These comments are making me physically ill. Be blessed everyone. Have a great weekend.
I’m not offended. But this stuff is ugly.
I’m not offended. I just think it looks dumb. If a black designer had created these looks, it would still look dumb. D&G could have gone with the colorful African influence without the figure.
I’m offended by the absence of black models!!!! And confused as hell on the collection as a whole #EpicFail
please look at the whole collection.

Black designers, and more accurately, Africans, have been dressing this way forever (sans the earrings). Everything doesn’t have to be a big deal.
Moving on…
@Judah Just a couple of words for you….. SHUT THE F**K UP
A couple is “two” words lol.
this world just sucks. time for a new one…
The new one is coming, but a le$bian like yourself will like it much less than you like this one, so enjoy your time here while you can…..and remember to floss.
negro your blacka$$ is going straight to he!! too so who who are you talking down too ? Higher then thou ? please, I can imagine the dirt you have under your nails.
came just to read Judahs posts. delightful
im more offended by how much this collection sucks
I didnt even notice the racist prints & accesories
I miss the old days when they would make headlines for beign over sexual
when will they bring sexy back???
I’ve said that least 3177761 times. SKC was here…
I dont find this offensive in the slightest, in fact I think its a compliment, its as if they’re celebrating our culture and heritage and are associating it with art. As for not using black models that was probably for the contrasting look they wanted to go for in terms of visuals, so to say D+G are racist is just silly and ignorant, they have used black models plenty a time for campaigns and shows. A lot of us need to know what to be offended by tbh. If we should be offended its by the many black people that portray this sort of ignorance and fulfill our ‘stereotype’.
The fact that it doesn’t bother sum folks is alarming.. WTH?! Helll YEAH its offensive!!, wearing a Black face as earrings, and a top is ridiculous and NOT ONE black model, Come on Now, Wake up. This aint COOL. .. This is not ART, this is not Fashion, this is what you come up with when you have no Creative Bone in your body! come up with someone thing else…
Judah and others need to talk to their grandparents about the history of slavary amongst their own people anf maybe they’d stop being so arrogant toward the Black American experienc in OUR OWN COUNTRY. Just to remind you, the Italians aided Hilter in exterminating Your people. Oh, how the stupid soon forget. Why do they think jews are scattered all over the world, as refugees in America and around the world, when no body wanted to take them in, and the average Amerivan at the time given the chance would have agreed with Germany! So get off your FAKE high horse because many of your people are not rich, educated, ot smart. And gad Hitler won, we’d be wearing shirts and dresses with your faces on them!
offensive? not if anything celebratory!!
hello I think D & G should read the history of the Moors who were the raids as pirates in the era of the Serenissima. The victory of the Venetians on the latter inspired by the goldsmiths and thus were born the famous Venetian moretti earrings, brooches and other jewelry from 1500 to today continue to be worn by lovers of jewelery particular niche
It’s not as offensive, as it is UGLY.
