SYNOPSIS
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures are teaming up with director Brian Helgeland for “42,” the powerful story of Jackie Robinson, the legendary baseball player who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier when he joined the roster of the Brooklyn Dodgers. “42″ will star Academy Award(R) nominee Harrison Ford (“Witness”) as the innovative Dodger’s general manager Branch Rickey, the MLB executive who first signed Robinson to the minors and then helped to bring him up to the show, and Chadwick Boseman (“The Express”) as Robinson, the heroic African American who was the first man to break the color line in the big leagues.

I’m on the fence whether I want to see this movie or not, because I’m tired of seeing another romanticized historical film on the trials of the black man, especially the first black anything. It gets redundant after a while. Then again, the trailer reminds me of ‘The Express’ the film about Ernie Davis (And I have to admit, that film in particular was pretty good). I dig the song choice too (Jay-Z’s “Brooklyn (Go Hard” feat. Santigold)

I agree. All that Jay-Z double entendre crack dealer talk ia actually demeaning to what Jackie Robinson is alleged to represent. As Jackie Robinson is “breaking the color barrier”, you have this sea horse face negro in the background rapping about how he “jacks, he robs, he sins”, and that’s supposed to be witty lol? The Robinson family should object to that song being associated with Jackie Robinson. Jay-Z hasn’t been relevant since the Black Album, but he’s being used by the elite so he has been allowed to affiliate himself with everything “Brooklyn”.
Seems like it’ll be a good movie. Can’t wait!

This might be an interesting film but the first 27 seconds of the trailer is actually an allusion to the Second Coming of Christ, with Robinson standing in as him. Most of these films are written with 2-3 layers of understanding. The film itself will without a doubt be another attempt to placate the black “community” and encourage them more into mainstream America as this society crumbles. Some things must be understood about Jackie Robinson though…..he was a 33rd degree mas0n, as was Branch Rickey. That was the connection. The sole purpose of “integrating” baseball was as a precursor to the government sponsored civil rights movement. Jackie was for all intents and purposes, an agent. He may not have been FULLY aware of what he was being used for, but that’s what he was. The title of the film is “42″ and the significance of that number is that it represents TRANSFORMATION through enlightenment i.e. Saturn and the trickster. Jackie, metaphysically speaking, acted as “Horus”, the bearer of secrets and mischief. He was the harbinger of change and evolution. He was put through the Horus ritual, as are all high level blacks in sports and entertainment. The apartment number on the show “Martin” was also “42″ because he was being put through the ritual as well. He spazzed out in the midst of the mk-ultra disney programming which is why he had the episode where he ran out in street naked waving a pistol.
