MAG COVERS: KEYSHIA COLE & FAMILY COVER ‘JET’ & TALK LOVE, RELATIONSHIPS & MORE

October 1st, 2012

Singer and TV personality Keyshia Cole, her husband NBA player Daniel Gibson and their son Daniel Jr. cover the latest issue of JET magazine. The duo sat down and chatted about their upcoming reality show and of course their relationship. Check out a couple of snippets below:

DANIEL ON KEYSHIA
“Keyshia’s been through a lot with her mother and her family; so her whole make up is built around being a strong woman. I’m just trying to show her that I can be there for her.”

KEYSHIA ON DANIEL
“He has a beautiful spirit. And he’s not afraid to love publicly. I think our Black men are afraid to love publicly, and I’m not a fan of that..”

In related news, Keyshia Cole’s new album Woman to Woman is in stores in November and her new reality show, Family First airs later this year on BET.

Maybe now that she has a man she’ll make some “I’m finally happy with my life because I have a man” songs to balance out all of the bitter, lonely, “men did me wrong” songs she did to cater to her bitter, lonely, “men did me wrong” audience of black females. She probably won’t because making positive songs about black males has no demographic lol.

She won’t do this… It’s too much like right. And her “fans” will not understand..causing her to lose “money”. I’ve said this many of times and I’ve had females look at me crazy…or say i’m “judging” It goes over their heads. IDK.. Not knowing, what they listen to play an important role. SMDH. Some people just feel comfortable being blue. lol If she starts singing about how happy she is,it will cause a chain reaction, then what will females have to cry about..? lol

      @ INDIGO

That is exactly my point. Thank you. There is profit in singing a certain type of song, the same way that black male rappers are told to rap about killing each other and selling drugs when they have never done anything other than live in their mother’s basement and eat milk and cookies while watching Jerry Springer lol. The record industry intended Keyshia Coles to replace Mary J. Blige in the “bitter, angry, SELF-DESTRUCTIVE” archetype, but she was able (thus far) to controvert that by finding happiness (IN THE ONLY WAY THAT A WOMAN CAN FIND REAL HAPPINESS) by having a man. That change in her life seems to coincide with her slippage in prominence and album sales. We’ll see how long she maintains this “new her”. She will be forced to choose between family life and the industry eventually.

A couple years ago Keyshia was on 106 & Park sounding bitter that her fans were not feeling her happy “I’m in love” music and appreciated her more when she was singing sad love songs. Kind of sad because she can’t express her current situation as her fans don’t seem to like it!

Just in addressing what you stated she lamented about (not addressing you per se) how could she expect her audience to enjoy “I’m in love” music when they became her fans based on her “bitter” representation of “relationships”. Misery loves company. The only way they could possibly appreciate her transition would be if they transitioned as she did and FOUND A MAN lol. Most of these black females have a better chance of finding Nemo than they do of finding (AND KEEPING) a man lol.

      @ Razer

Her skin tone isn’t an issue because her original image was as a “street chic”, which took away from the subliminal, record industry-induced “light-skin” appeal. Most of the top r&b/pop singers are so-called “light-skinned” because they want to crossover to an international audience, therefore they need an international look.

I was just about to say what you said about the top black female singers being light- skinned, but you beat me to it (as usual). She should turn pop because that’s where all the money is. White women buy albums like they’re going out style.

She has many positive songs about love and men. My favorite songs by her are “Take me Away”, “Heaven Sent”, “Love”, “I’ve Changed”, and “Enough of no Love.” All of those songs except for the last one are positive love songs. If there isnt an audience for these songs then that is sad because people are missing out on some good music. The problem with the music industry is that they only want to put out and promote the things they think will sell which often are negative, sexual, or violent songs. They are basically force feeding us trash. Someone said that Keyshia should put out a pop song because thats where the money is at but really it seems like the money is in country music. Those artists are the ones that are still selling records and going platinum.

Judah, I disagree with you when you say that, “the only way that a woman can find real happiness is by having a man.” It is this type of thinking that keeps women in negative, abusive, unhealthy relationships. You have women who move from man to man, getting used up because they think that they need a man to be happy (see Jennifer Lopez). A woman needs to be happy with herself before she can be happy and contribute anything good to a relationship. Otherwise, she’ll make herself and some poor man miserable.

@Kina I agree with everything you just said that money is in country. For example look at Taylor Swift she sells pretty well. I disagree with some of these negative comments because I am not the black female who needs a man to be happy. When I am not dating I do alot of fun productive things on my own. Not every women need a man to be happy lol.

Miss, there is a difference between a “female” and a “woman”, just like there’s a difference between a “male” and a “man”. An animal is described as “male” or “female”, but never “man” or “woman”. Those titles are reserved for civilized human beings. Females are in “negative relationships” with males because neither one of them are in order. I reiterate, the only way a woman will find happiness is with a MAN, because the man is her head. Females have no idea how to “be happy” with themselves, which is why they’re so bitter now. It takes an inexhaustible amount of energy for them to maintain the facade that “independence” makes them “happy”, and they believe that they can create a composite husband with a $ex toy, a good job, a big screen television, and “chuch” lol. Behind the facade, most of you females cry yourselves to sleep with an over-used, burnt out v!brator in one cramped up hand, an empty bottle of vodka in the other hand, a matted-up, bird’s nest looking weave, and a Tyler Perry DVD playing lol. The only thing you hate more than your own pathetic lives is seeing a black woman flourishing in order with her man. Spare me please….

Also, I am a woman with no kids and is in college and sometimes I feel my men come with baggage such as baby mama drama or never satisfied. Just as you can look down on us vice versua. YES WOMEN CAN BE HAPPY WITHOUT A MAN AND A MAN CAN BE HAPPY WITHOUT A WOMAN. You should get your stuff straight

Miss, why do you keep volunteering what race of men you’re wh0ring for, as if I asked you or care lol? As I’ve stated, there are 10 females for every male out here. You’re expendable. A female cannot “look down” on a male, only the Lord and His Son can. That is why the black male is in the predicament that he’s in now.

      @ MICHELLE

That’s good. I hope your mind stays sharp.

      @ REALLY?

In order for you to use the word “woman”, you must know what one is. Having a vag!na does not make you a “woman” miss. When you know what that word actually means, then we can have a conversation. No one has as big a chip on their shoulders as the average black female, and no one hates WOMEN more than the average black female lol. As a matter of fact, the only thing black females tend to agree with each other on is how much they hate men and women lol.

These are the last days bruh. The sisters, for the most part, are set up as a distraction. They’re confused due to the black man not following the order, so they do not respect the black man. The woman is mischievous by nature even when the men are in order. When the men are not in order, the women will become an even bigger problem, which is what we see now. The black man is supposed to be investing in himself, so that he will be profitable to himself and to whatever he creates, not chasing after these wh0res in their confused state. If the black man gets himself right, and conducts himself with prudence, the females will come to him. Value is based on rarity. The black man is much rarer than the black female, who is literally everywhere. The black female knows this which is why they have a fit whenever they see an affluent black man with a non-black woman. They talk about “dating” men of the other nations to create and maintain the illusion that they have options. They don’t, and for the most part they have no answers either. Females like to test their boundaries with men like children do, and they like to throw tantrums like children do also. Look at what “Beyonce Stan” stated as exhibit A, just to glean a sliver of the reasoning process behind the black female’s insanity lol. She “dates white men” because they “treat her better” (allegedly). Well, logic makes us quickly arrive at the conclusion, if the white man treated her better, she would have only DATED ONE and they’d still be together lol.

You’re trying to downplay the conversation because you don’t have a logical argument to bring forth. You clearly stated that you date outside your race because the men of other nationalities treat you better, that automatically contradicts your lie about you not needing a man to make you happy. If the white man makes you more happier than the black man then why should it matter since you’re always happy any way? And quit lying you know good and well white men don’t want your lazy ass

@ NUBIAN – I am ctfu up over here too! These conversations are hilarious! Jealousy and bitter music. I’m NOT a K. Coles fan by any stretch, but the one song that sticks out is “Love” where she sings about finding love. Mary J sings about her life, she went through a lot, came out the other side and now she’s “Just Fine” and ready to “Stay Down.” But I do agree there’s more of an appetite for angry R&B and Hip Hop. Hey, that’s what sells just like a woman who keeps her clothes on probably won’t sell like the woman ready to give a strip tease. Ah well!

“God” has nothing to do with their “union” i.e. contractual agreement. The god of their marriage is the state in which they were married, and two or three years from now, when she chooses her career over him, neither “God” nor “love” will have anything to do with the divorce proceedings. Black men are not signing that contract because they don’t trust black females, nor should they. Females in general are whimsical by nature and the right to divorce is supposed to be determined strictly by the man.
