Girl please! Stop being a hater.

Your opinion…cool. My opinion…you have never been so wrong. Fantasia has a voice no one in the business can match. It’s so distinctive and when she’s on a track, it’s hers. The rawness in her voice and the lyrics match her life. I like this girl because she’s not industry, barely marketable which makes it hard for her to be a huge success. Voice alone…she’s platinum, but you know as much as I do, that’s not what sells only….she’s a bit uneducated, she makes mistakes, not always skinny, dark skin and she’s often to vulnerable. To me, all the reason to be more awesome, but i’m not the star. She is. Sorry for running off on a tangent, but Fantasia can sing, she pretty much sings the hell out of any song she’s on. why don’t you like her? Musically, she’s never not did it right?

@NYU INTL LAW – Good point, Fantasia has a great voice, but at the end of the day. The reality is, if North America (or the rest of the world for that matter) wants to market an artist, that artist has to appeal to the *majority buyer* that the industry is wanting to sell and make money from…i.e Let’s look at Eminem (his image and music sold itself, not much work had to be done for the “The Great White Hope”…) do I have to say anything more!!!?? : )

@NYU Intl Law well said. Honestly there are a handful of other artist that can really sing but Fanny is in a class by herself. The girl can straight up and down sing and there’s no if and’s or butts about it. People don’t know real singing anymore because America has been dumbed down and white washed. She doesn’t look how everyone thinks she should look so she’s null and void? FOOHWTS! She’s a beast vocally and I would rather listen to Fanny sing all day then to look at some chick that the industry has hyped up to be a phenom with no talent because of the way she looks. We are supposed to support and get accustomed to mediocrity. I ain’t buying. I will stick to the real singers Whitney, Mariah, Fanny, Christina, Jazmine, Kelly Price, Debroah Cox, Toni Braxton, Fatih Evans, KeKe Wyatt. I know I went back for some but we are talking about real singing here.

What message do you want from an RnB singer? Or just in general, what are you listening for. Question for you, and I hope you get a chance to answer it. Would you like an artist to sing about whats going in there life or sing a song that was written.? Actaully, I’m being a bit young and ignorant on this one. A writer writes for artist in the hopes of the artist making a connection t the song and owning it. Ushers mega platinum hit “BURN” wasn’t about him, but it fit his life and his public situation…so he owned it, and we thought it was on point because that’s why him and Chilli didn’t make it. Anyways, you say that this is old, but you and I know, there are always ups and downs in love and unfortunately the down is what we want to here. If she was saying how in love she is….most would be mad at that. Reference Mary J Blige career and personal testimony onhow her fans got used to her being hurt , sad and lonely.

I would LOVE to hear Fannie sing about Love..and I’m tired of MJB and her “I move on through trials, and drama, ect” self too. THE bottom line is..these artitst stick to these sterotypes song because it is what pays the bills..and that’s all well and good..but throw a lil something in the mix..not the same OLD, stale crap…I don’t know when the last time I bought, downloaded a full albmun..cause its all ridden with the same type of message..not spending my money on that…I’ll rather pay .69 or 1.29 for one song and be good.. not 11.99 for a whole Albumn full of the same crap?..nope not this kid!

@ KYM great point. I agree. I understand what NYU Intl Law is saying but we really do need more love songs out here and if you are happy there is no reason to relive the past. Plus more music about love is what we need in this world right now.

I’m with you 100 on this. At times, I wish I was some of these artist publicist or analyst. I’d show you exactly what the people want and I’d make sure you give it to them. Actually, I wonder how many people are doing just that and the artist just isn’t listening. Lol

NYU…The industry is full with publicist like you…That’s why the industry has turned to shyt… Everyone’s sounding the same. What happen to passion and standing by one’s work? #sheep. I know you are gonna come back swinging,but think about what you said,before you do…I mean really think.

INDIGO, I’m not coming back swinging lol. However lets engage in conversation for minute. Actually no, I’ll take a minute to just frame this conversation. Fantasia is an awesome singer I think, she’s raw and unscripted. No A&R can groom her to perfection because she so imperfect. That’s one thing I love about her and dislike also. Why do I dislike it, here’s my reason and framework. Fantasia has a story and a struggle. we literally watched an uneducated black girl become a woman who has the probability to be a legend. Her voice is amazing yet she’s up and down with drama in her life. Yet, it’s the same thing her songwriters are capitalizing on… She’s making her own music just by living.

Simple. The labels don’t know how to promote BLACK music. Why else do you think they try to portray artists (Rihanna, Beyoncé, Keri Hilson, Jordin Sparks, etc.) as white. Being that most of the African American demographic bootlegs & downloads the music for free, the Caucasian demographic is the one buying the music. I hope this helps.

I agree. I bought her last CD too and it was definitely well produced and she delivered vocally. I just did not understand why her label would not promote it more. I mean there were only two videos for the CD and that was it. Hopefully they will promote her new project better.

by the way, i’m not a publicist. I’m a Marketing Executive, Law Student and a US Marine. As much as I love entertainment, I did something totally different with my life.

Are you a Christian? Because that is completely contrary to what Jesus taught. Do you know anything about Jesus’ followers? The idea isn’t to kick someone when they are down, but to help them up.

I feel sorry for you, if the church you attend teaches anything contrary to that. Besides, hypocrisy is ugly. Just because you nor I have committed adultery doesn’t mean we don’t do things wrong. I’d rather help others who have stumbled so that when I need help during one of the inevitable times that I falter, they’ll return the favor.

@NikNAK I don’t think it even has to do with being a christian or not it’s about the type of person that you are. I’m not christian but I would never want to see something held against a person for the rest of their life because they made a mistake. And even if it was done purposely she has to answer to a higher being and only her. We can not play God and judge people when we are not perfect ourselves. Not one human being on this planet is perfect no matter how much the industry tries to portray them as. There are people who hold hatred in their hearts for things that were done to them. I wish Fantasia the best in her career. Her personal life has no affect on me or my life. The problem is that people get so caught up in these people’s lives acting as if they personally know them when they don’t have a clue. Who know’s what the real story is behind any of these celebrities. It’s just news that you read from some nosey ass person that gets a thrill out of being in other people’s business.
