Fifteen-year-old Hadiya was shot and killed when a gunman opened fire in the park earlier this week while she was hanging out with friends on the warm rainy afternoon under a shelter in the park. The honor student was a majorette in her high school band and recently performed in Washington, D.C. during the Presidential Inauguration. President Obama’s Chicago home is less than a mile from the park where Hadiya was killed. Another person was wounded in the leg during the shooting.
In Chicago alone, 42 people have been murdered since the beginning of the year and in 2012, 506 people were slain in the city.

What’s happening in Chicago with the murder rate is a direct result of gun control. The criminals are running the place, they disarmed the public, and now the citizens are helpless…’FOOD’ to be grazed upon!
This is so very sad, I cant even fathom her what family is feeling. This child had a promising future. She was so beautiful and in one moment, a souless, street rat stole her life. I find comfort in knowing that, if your reward doesnt come in this life, it will certainly come in the after. That street garbage will get their just reward. This is so horrible. I feel for Hadiya’s family. Can’t even hide from the rain w/o a gang member shooting..smh. The violence needs to stop & the gun control laws need to be enforced asap.
This is so sad to hear. Let’s hope gun violence stops so that another family doesn’t have to deal with another sad loss.
