Author and Hollywood film executive DeVon Franklin and his wife actress Meagan Good credit God for directing their paths to one another.
The newlywed couple shared their love story in front a crowd of hundreds at the One Church International “Kingdom Love” special Valentine’s Day event.
They encouraged the packed audience of mostly single people to “wait upon the Lord” when it comes to Love. They also shared some advice they learned along the way.
“If you settle, you will never be as happy as you could be,” said Good. “When you are obedient you get excited about the wait. Spend time being excited about what your purpose is. Be excited about who you are supposed to be.” Franklin followed with “A man of substance committed to God will find the right heart that God has for him. As a man, you’ll get beyond someone who is just attractive. If you go out with someone who is beautiful but there’s no substance there, you’ll get tired of that. At a certain point God will allow you to keep dating the same type in order to show you that you have to go after what he’s called you to go after.”
MEAGAN GOOD:
“I had a lot of emotional baggage, and damage, and things that I went through,” said Good. “So, I was praying about that and then I started praying about my husband and God told me flat out that DeVon was my husband.
She said she then asked God what she should do and He answered, “Nothing. Just wait. Get yourself together.”
DeVON FRANKLIN:
He said it wasn’t until months later that Good told him that she knew he was her husband.“It’s fascinating because He gave her the revelation. All she had to do was position herself to Him and get her life together. He made it happen. She didn’t call me. She didn’t text me. She didn’t try to get in the office to talk about something.
