Rapper and T.V. personality Lil Mama is slated to play Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in the upcoming VH1 Biopic about singing group TLC. The news came during a red carpet interview with veteran rapper MC Lyte. She confirmed that Lil Mama would play the role and we peeped Lil Mama’s official twitter page and she is re-tweeting congratulations tweets from fans and supporters.
Everyone is not amused though, there is already a petition up protesting her playing the role. I personally think if she gets the acting done she can probably pull this off. We’ll see though. How you feel about Lil Mama playing Left Eye?
She’ll do good playing her.
She was even asked by Lefteye’s team to do a collaboration on Lefteye’s “Eyelegacy”.
Okay people don’t like Lil’ Mama, one of the main reasons being because of that VMA stunt she pulled. Another reason being that her music is just, well horrible. However, we’ve never really seen her act in a film so we cant judge what her acting ability is. It’s like saying somebody can’t sing when you’ve never heard them sing. So all I can really say is, we’ll see…
i think this might turn out to surprise alot of people. Lefteye was very similar to Lil Mama in alot of ways… Lefteye represented being unique and sharing knowledge. If u listen to some of Lil Mama’s music and look at some of her videos you can see the influence of Lefteye, MC, Lyte, Salt N Pepa, and Missy Elliott

I can SORT OF see Keri as old-school T-Boz, but never could Ciara be Chilli. Lol! Let Tatiana Ali (Ashley from “Fresh Prince”) be Chilli.
Ciara no, unlike Lil’ Mama I have seen Ciara in a film and she CANNOT ACT.

Lil Mama has a similar energy to Left Eye. I can see it.
I’ll have to see the outcome before I pass judgement, Anybody that grew up with TLC will tell you that Left-Eye was the seemingly more colorful and outspoken of the trio so I personally think that she has some pretty serious shoes to fill. I’ve never really seen Lil Mama act so I can’t call it.
i remember Chilil and T-boz said they rather cast new unknown talent actors and actresses in their upcoming movie now i know lil mama did maybe guest appearance on some tv show, perhaps i’m wrong but really lil mama is well known all around especially vma stunt. I’m not against or for the idea to see lil mama as left eyez but hey i rather see unknown talent people in the movie than looking at the movie with bias.
This will be interesting I think she wouldve done better playing Lil Bow wow in a Biopic.
