The Recording Academy pays tribute to the legendary Bob Marley, with performances from Bruno Mars, Sting, Rihanna and his sons, Ziggy and Damian Marley. One of the more spirited performances of the night, Mars kicked off the set with “Locked Out of Heaven,” while Sting did The Police’s “Walking on the Moon.”

Some argue that the Marley sons and Rihanna saved the performance when the finally performed something from Bob’s extensive catalog, offering up a rousing version of “Could You Be Loved.”

I really liked it, they’re all talented people… I still have to say that if you are paying a tribute to an artist you should sing his songs or at least songs in connection with him…

this was amazing. Theres a lot of “beef” and seriousness within the music industry, but Bob’s music just makes everyone jump off their feet. Amazing!

LOVED it – especially when Damian Marley came out, love him.
I also love Bruno and his band – love their dancing.

  9. Damian Marley was the BEST. This was a lackluster tribute considering people were doing their own POP songs. Typical Grammy awards FLUFF.

Great performance! I have never been disappointed in a Bruno Mars performance, even if I don’t know what song he is singing. He just brings a ton of energy and so did everyone else.

This was the best performance last night. Being from the Caribbean (Virgin Islands to be exact) I would of been moving! That audience aint ready for we carribean people they weren’t even dancing smh. Rihanna should do MORE REGGAE I keep saying this! He voice is perfect for it. Daiman and Ziggy killed it, I mean did you expect anything else? They are only the sons of the Legendary Bob. Tribute should of been WAY longer but I loved it.

We were all saying the same thing, should have been longer. We need more reggae at the grammy. The island vibes really made me more proud to be a Jamaican!

Best performance of the night! I love how they played tribute and took it higher. I thought Bruno’s song was a throwback to the Police’s “Spirits” hit. How fitting to bring Sting out there. Then they took it to Bob Marley, the originator. Loved it! Great tribute, hands down.

With all the hits Bob Marley has, this could have been a better performance. And was Rihanna asked to join simple because she was Caribbean? I don’t see how her presence (and voice) was needed. This tribute would have done better being performed at the BET awards.

Rihanna was asked to do it because she is from the Caribbean and she is the biggest artist to come from our area since Bob, So it only made sense she took part.

I thought the performance was off the chain…I love Stings performance along with Bruno Mars….I dont listen to Bruno but he made me want to hear more….I love Sting, enough said….I found myself cringing when Rihanna started singing…I thought she did great when she sung her song Stay, but on the tribute i was like no ma’am….she just looked out of place for some reason.

  20. Could have been waaaay better. Bob Marley is a freaking legend!! And with all the powerful songs he’s written, that’s the only thing they could come up with?? Ive seen them put much more effort into other artist tributes. I mean c’mon, this was looong over due and this is the best they could come up with?? Im not speaking for all my Jamaican ppl but I know the majority was kind of disappointed. I mean I get that he influenced other artist and sounds of music but they should have just stuck to the roots of what bob was all about. I mean Bruno Mars songs are kool but the one he sang had nothing to do with the essence which is bob marley which is freedom, strength and equality. and rihanna had like 2 lines to sing! smh #wompWOMP!
